I've just noticed over the last few years people always seem to be complaining about algae this time a year
You and Murphy have so totally encouraged me to get a fresh water puffer fish. Lol I can not have a large tank so a pea puffer was the best fit for me. Lol but still. I see why ppl love puffers. They really are just like dogs.

I am very lucky i live locally and I am able to see Murphy up close. He is such a wonderful fish, he greets everyone that comes close to his tank. Its amusing how he will rub his lips against the window hoping for a treat. He is very impressive up close. Murphy Rules!!

I was surprised to hear that Ladybird was from the same batch as Murphy. Haven't seen her in a while, but Murphy was soooo much larger from what I remember. Mbu puffers are so amazing. One of those dream fish that'll never happen for me if I'm being honest with myself. The tank requirements to house one for life will always be out of reach. Even a Fahaka puffer might be out of reach, because I would want to spoil it with the tank size. Wish there was a Mbu puffer I could visit locally like people who live near Aquarium Co-Op can visit Murphy.
I used to pet my most dominant discus a few years back, he was the only one in the school gentle and trusting enough to let me pet him. He was also the most long-lived among the group. Swim in peace Tsuyoshi
i was inspired by murphy to get my own mbu. i named him charlie and i think he is almost the same size as murphy now pushing 22' in a year in a half. its crazy how big and fast they grow, lol
Murphy is a classic example of a gentle giant 💗💗💗 This video gives me a clear idea that I can work on escaping my 50-gallon tank even with the colony of whiptails I have inside. Other than if you suggest for me to take them out but I do not want to stress in catching them I just need to put sand and work on removing potted plants and grow them directly to the substrate I am putting in the tank.
Wear those 80s-esque terrycloth wristbands when you’re working with tanks where the water may run down your arms. Works well to soak up the water and stop the drip. 😉 (To clarify: wear them on your arm where they stay dry. Depending on the size of your arm, you might need to custom make some, or use leg warmer products or head bands instead of wrist warmers, but they do work well to stop drip. I know one person who keeps one hand dry with the band for overhead and down lifting, and the other hand is the “wet” arm that stays in the tank, but most folks I know just shove them further up the arm. 🤷♀️)
Murphy!! Any video with Murphy is automatically a great video. Jimmy, love the Batman moment. :-) Those plants are huge! Murphy poo grows gorgeous plants. Who got the garbage bag full of plants?!?! All I could think was "mine, mine, mine, mine, mine!"
I went to visit the store last week and got to meet Murphy with my 2 year old son. Murphy has a gentle curious spirit. I am so happy we got to meet him.
First time being able to visit the CO-OP I was so excited to see Murphy and the giant planted tank. To my surprise there was Murphy in a pretty barren tank. Now I know why... such a great store Mascot.
great video, I try to watch all of your videos and this was my favorite in a long time. something about your narration in this one that seemed better than most and the interaction of Jimmy. I'm not sure what else it was, maybe just the awesomeness of the tank, fish, and plants. Thank you for this one
My sons are going gaga for a new Murphy video. He’s our mascot too. I keep the Murphy pics from all my Aquarium Co-Op boxes. We’ll have to scape a little area for our cardboard Murphys. Make sure they have enough room😃
The gardner’s killifish I raised for eggs are just like this, and I just love them so much for it! It really is special when I fish wants to actively interact with you and shows such a level of trust. My fish are constantly nipping and biting my hands and trying to swim between my fingers even if the gap between them has like a millimeter of water to swim through. Even when I try to scare them off when I’m holding an algae wafer or something and flick my fingers at them or touch/poke/swipe their bodies to get them to go away, they swim back immediately without any fear. The most friendly ones I can easily just pick them up and take them out of the water within a couple seconds and they’ll still be swimming right back after lol. Love the little guys, I feel so bad when I have to treat them for disease or anything since I feel like I’m betraying their trust by catching and confining them... but I want them to be as healthy and happy as can be
Murphy is truly magnificent! Such a beautiful creature! I'd never seen a mbu puffer before I started watching the Co-Op videos and I am totally fan now!
Just traveled up there from Portland just this last Saturday to pick up some of Dean's angels. Tank looks amazing and the chain swords already have runners. You all need to see this guy in person, video/webcam just doesn't do it justice on how beautiful this fish is.
Haven't watched most of the summer because I was doing educational research for another new hobby, but I will easily say I can tell a HUGE difference in production quality! Great job Corey and the gang, keep up the amazing work.
Murphy is the best fish ever. I couldn't ever get a mbu, but I really want one of his smaller distant cousins one day. Maybe a figure 8 or green spotted.

A couple of years back , i had a pair of angelfish that would let me touch them and would eat from my hand.
One of my Oscars was the same way any time I was doing maintenance - and in a 55 that was often. He really was a water puppy.
