Gran Turismo 7 is not any better in this regard. Say you're coming into a braking zone 3 cars deep, and you're the car in the middle. If the guy behind you misses his braking point and punts you, you're going straight into the guy ahead of you and punting him off. And YOU get the penalty for it...
It's better in the sense that at least the first example in this video wouldn't have been a penalty in GT7. But yeah there are also a lot of problems with GT7's penalty calculation (I wonder if wall hits in GT7 still gives you a penalty no matter how you hit it)
They do test. but they probably have around 1,000 beta testers compared to the million people who play. It gets real difficult to account for every type of bump or ram
@Venji818 the guy who tried to kill ISAD blatantly killed 2 other people within the first 45 seconds of the race and only had a 1.1 second penalty. This is just being super lazy and assuming that the faster car is always the aggressor and instigator of contact and the slower car is always on the defensive.

I would say that this is double bad, because it causes their safety rating to go up, and yours down, but we all know that Turn 10 ignores safety rating anyway.😆
That 2nd race in that yellow car, yourrear suspension is what caused you to hit the wall there, too stiff while also having too much rebound. Needs to have less dampening/compression and a little slower Rebound but also have the Rebound be a little higher than your compression rate, need it to settle faster than it compresses but not too much otherwise it still acts stiff and will still cause you to lose your rear end on bumps and turns.
Most penalties you recieved in this video were honestly due to other players playin' rough and reckless but overall it was a good video. Nice work. Stay safe out there. Peace✌🏾

Honestly I think it would be next to impossible to tune in the penalty system to work perfectly first time. It’s something that will need a lot of tweaks over time to hit the sweet spot. To the devs credit they are at least trying to tune it in properly. Hopefully they will get the system working to at least a playable degree soon
I'm having this issue at the moment, if I accidently bump them I receive almost no penalty but my issue is most of them ram the hell out of me with intension to take me off the track and I receive high penalties. I assume the Dev working on the penalties hasn't ever driven a car or raced before (Possibly just a diversity Dev)
This is why I dont give a sht about realistic driving games.They are boring anyway.We have tons of realistic driving games these days.What we need is a good arcade racing games that is fun to play.

I'll say it again: this whole FRR shenanigans could have been avoided if they adopted a pre-existing model, say, iRacing's penalty model. I know I'm generalizing the problem here, but I think it would have avoided a lot of the penalty issues we see here.
It seems the game is still considering you are crashing the other car at a very high speed, for the game you "t-boned" the other guy, honestly i don't see how they will solve this.

Honestly, I think people driving with bumper cam have little to no situational awareness on track. I would like to see the penalty system updated to more accurate gentleman-racer rules, such as the nose of the car must be even with the driver for the overtaking driver to have right of way, etc.
The penalty system really needs some rework, maybe even change to the way GT7 does, slowing you down on the track, it's way more impactful to be slowed down on the track and going to last place them to just receive a penalty on the final score, that's why a lot of people don't care about getting penalties. There's also the gamepass factor, the game would have way less bad drivers or people who don't care about fair racing if it was a full on $70 game.
Last clip, Ford GT dude should have had more than 20 seconds of Penalties lmfao. You got 3 seconds of penalties, one you braked for to negate it but it still penalized you, the other because YOU got hit but apparently saving it instead of crashing is a bad thing. Pays to be a bad driver I guess?
