I am addicted to elder scrolls lore content to relax and I have worked my way through camelworks and fudgemuppet so many times thank god a new hand touches the beacon
This is such a great comment. You complimented the creator with a reference and you noted other creators for scrollers to check out. You’re doing the good work and I wish you well. Helping our creators this way is wonderful and should be normalized. Have a kind week, y’all.
Fun fact: The quest where you escort Elante of Alinor is an easteregg to Morrowind. There is a fighters guild quest to escort a high elve scholar to a deadric shrine. With the name of Elante of Alinor. Another easteregg is Arvena Thelas which has a sister named Drarayne Thelas in Vardenfell (Morrowind). Which also hires the fighters guild, but to get rid of the rats that destroy her precious pillows. Shes obsessed with pillows.
Not only that, but the first mission where you are sent to help out a dunmer with rats in her basement is referencing the first fighters guild quest in Morrowind, where you need to go into the basement and kill the rats. Its a little subversion of expectation for the people who remembered that quest from Morrowind
Not only not only that (looking @MrMyers758) but Drarayne Thelas quest in Vardenfell can lead to an Extra-Comfy Pillow easter-egg. This has nothing to do with Oblivion. Just thought the rabbit hole of easter-eggs is kind of funny
This is great seeing detailed Oblivion content like this on youtube. It’s like touching on long forgotten memories of this wonderful childhood game. Thank you!
I’m playing oblivion again for the first time in years, can’t decide which guild to start off first (I’m doing the mages guild last) but considering starting the fighters guild first!!
Same! I played this game religiously as a sad poorly socialized middle schooler and it got me through some really tough times. I love that I can put this on in the background while I do other things. The narration is perfect and soothing and I get to indulge in a little bit of nostalgia.
Modryn Oreyn has more than earned his role as second-in-command. He might not be the one who went out and did the action, but he did spark the investigation into the Blackwood Company, and didn't run in blindly, showing a restrained temper. Something important for the leader of a faction of warriors. He is also experienced enough to be a wise assistant to the new leader, who joined the guild only recently.
In the Masters Son quest, if you take the broken shield with you, and have it in your inventory, if I remember correctly, Modryn will have different dialogue when discussing Galtus’ death
I found you a few weeks ago and now I cannot stop listening to these in the evening😂 I LOVED Oblivion as a kid, I played ALL the quests and this channel is a treasure chest. I also do fall asleep MOST DAYS listening to you, so thank you for my many adventure-filled dreams 😅😅😅❤
Back whem oblivion was just released, I was so hyped for this game, and loved playing it. So much so, that I bought the official guide book too. I guess part of my love for the game spilled into reading about it, but I loved reading through the quests and everything else in that book. Your videos bring some of that magic back for me, so thank you truly!
I think lore videos was a good choice man. I'm loving your content, its great to see oblivion still getting love. Of course I won't be opposed to lore videos on other universes either, but this was a good choice.
You and dark lore dash decided its gonna be oblivion for 2024. I aint upset, its about time for me to play it again lol. Awesome video though, i can tell youve put a lot of work into these. Looking forward to the rest of whats to come!
@ABardsBallad dude youre awesome too brother. Thank you for giving me something to make it through the work day lol. Im looking forward to seeing shivering isles covered in detail eventually
I looooove videos like these. I hope to see more! Personally, longer is better, though I know how exhausting it can be to make them. You have my gratitude for existing and making content 😁
I love to listen to these till I fall asleep (no disrespect meant, I can fall asleep to everything) I just love the ambience in combination with your voice
1:02:52 You don't have to wipe out the village. You can just get away from the village far enough, and the next stage of the quest will trigger as normal.
Funnily enough, my most recent playthrough (last summer, for the first time in almost 7 years) was a Fighters Guild-focused playthrough! I always wanted to do one (even my previous most-recent playthrough was a start of one) since Oblivion's main Alternate Start mod lets you start right in Anvil, so it was a really great way to experience the game all over again. It's nice to see you revisiting it as well!
Poor Martin is going is going to have some major PTSD issues. Been trapped in the Chapel over in Kvatch with Daedra pounding on the doors for weeks/months now.
This was really great and I hope you'll continue this design of a video. You covered the details well while not getting bogged down, so the pacing and video length were good, which can really be the bane of a more "let's play" style video. It really causes that itch to want to play through it yourself without ruining doing so, a hard but great balance to have. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you liked it! I’m happy to hear the feedback on the style as well! It wasn’t one that I normally do but I think it paid off!
I hope you don't mind going on my falling asleep to playlist. Comfy Oblivion story and lore. Nicely narrated and good sound balance between voice, game sounds and music.
Keep up the great work! Oblivion was my childhood game, I remember my old friend and I would stay up all night and wake up early before school to get in as much time as we could. I miss having that feeling of exploration and mystery, games (atleast for me) don't hit the heart like they used to.
Cheers! Thank you for the continued support! The guilds have been on my to do list! I’m glad I finally decided to hunker down and make some long form content!
I’m sure someone has already mentioned it, but for the quest Amelion’s Debt, there is a way to keep the sword and cuirass. When you first meet Biene, there is an option to ask her how much her father’s debt is. If you have at least 1,000 Septims on your character, you can just give her the Gold to pay off the debt. If you do that, then she will tell you to go get the items from the tomb anyways and you can keep them. P.S I love your videos. I haven’t had time to play Oblivion since becoming a mum. So I listen to your videos while going about my day! ❤
8:40 Pro tip: if you want high-level gear, this is one of the quests to delay until you get to level 20-25. Another is the quest "Caught in the hunt" which you can get in Bravil.
I do miss how rough and tumble some of the fighters guild quest feel. Some are these grande conspiracies like the black heart company, and others are just going to a bar to check on some grumpy guildmates making a fuss. Another is escorting a important person, another is going on a hunt to quell dangerous beasts that might hurt the populace and their animals. It really makes you feel like a small to intermediate time protector, which the fighter guild really is, filling that niche in the empire. Heroes and the imperial magistrate fill the higher protectors roll in the empire, while the guard is there to impose its laws and keep the general operations of the core empire up and running day-to-day without criminals and miscreants making a mess of everything. It's the closest thing you can really get to feeling like a folk hero instead of like some God hero in the elder scrolls. 😅
Lord Rugdumph is my favorite Orc from all Elder Scrolls games for the specific reason of him attempting to sound “high class” when talking to you 😂 what a guy
You going into the aylied ruin and thoroughly clearing the whole thing only to talk to the guy and him tell you coming here was pointless is comedy gold lol
Fantastic! I almost completely forget this questline and can't be bothered to do it again so thanks for taking the hit for us. Fighters Guild was always a little boring to play for me Now Idk why I never remembered it as that wasn't bad.
After doing absolutely everything in it as a teenager then going off to college in 2011 I reinstalled it on my Xbox one two years ago. It definitely hasn't aged well but the stories are better than anything in Skyrim by far.
You can pay Biene Amelion father’s debt with coin immediately after she mentions going to the cave to retrieve her families armor. I forgot exactly how much you can give her, but she immediately tells you to keep the armor. You can do this before, even getting to the location to get the armor. It completelyskips that side of the quest if you wanted. After the quest is complete, you can go pick up her family’s armor without it being stolen because she mentions that you can go and take it and have it.
Excited to see this video, but im gonna watch to watch it later! I'm playing through Oblivion and actually doing the Fighter's Guild storyline fort he first time in about a decade! It's a great story, but I think the early quests for it always demotivated me finishing it Definitely the slowest starting questline in my opinion.
Cheers! That totally makes sense! Best to have the first hand experience and then if you’d like, come back to this video! I hear you, some of the quests drag on!
I think the Fighter's Guild Questline is one of the best parts of Oblivion. Oreyn might be the best NPC out there (sorry to Brother Martin). The really good thing is, the pacing, how random every day tasks are mixed up with the slowly developing story about Blackwood company. Only difference for me compared to the video was, that I covered for Maglir after the first default and would have wished he had not been willing to fight to the death.
I forgot how lengthy the Fighter's Guild questline was, but still pretty entertaining. It gets pretty interesting if you're playing as an argonian, as normally they would be immune to the sap's effect, yet the character still ends up having that bad trip. Modryn will even comment on it afterward, surprised by the results and somewhat horrified.
It is quite terrifying when you play as an argonian on that. Depending on how you set up your character's backstory, if you were native born to black marsh you would have been given sap when born and even incubated in it as an egg. You would have naturally been used to th effects of the sap. But even if you made it so you were a none native argonian born somewhere else naturally still is horrifying since you aren't the only one suffering from these effects of th sap
I’ve been watching all your videos lately and idk how I forgot to subscribe 😭 Subscribed now, love your content! Also I know this is an unpopular opinion but the fighter’s guild is my favorite questline of all the guilds in elder scrolls games! It’s just a great way to make money early, level up skills and I like Modryn and Azzan. I also usually like to play lawful good characters so as much as I appreciate the DB and Thieves’s guild, I can’t help but not enjoy it cause I feel like a bad person doing it lol
Cheers! I really appreciate the support! :) I really enjoyed doing the Fighters Guild! I’ve always heard it’s the weaker storyline of the guilds but I enjoyed my time doing it!
@@ABardsBallad not at all. Nor does an excellent choice. You cannot really go wrong. I have always been fascinated with other peoples choices for characters and class options.
The quest involving the Goblins I usually have problems with. Now there's a type of player who does a quest where non essential NPCs play a role and if one dies and it doesn't impact getting achievements or completing the quest no harm done. But due to my brothers insistence when playing these games. I learned that if an NPC dies it's considered mission failure. So even if the quest is completed if a single guard dies then I reload. But I have two ways of doing this. Play the quest early and get weaker weapons as a reward and hope friendly NPCs don't die. Or I play the quest late game to get higher level quest items but risk the chance of said NPCs dying allot faster due to higher level enemies. With goblin mission it's rather easy but because of the log trap almost always the NPCs rush through the level killing goblins go past the logs but tripping the trap and get stopped before they can clear the room by a goblin and dies because of the logs so if I'm fast enough I either kill all the goblins myself or I go to the trap trip it and move the logs to the sides that way the foolish NPCs charging ahead don't get killed. To be honest they should have put a little dev update at the end of most quests that read something like this, "Hey you've made it all this way nice to see you've enjoyed the game. And I've noticed that you've protected every NPC and kept them alive through the quests given. And while we didn't make an achievement for this, we appreciate that you took the time to protect and defend the characters in the world we've created. We are glad to have such dedicated players going beyond what's expected of them. You've done well. Thanks for playing Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Sincerely yours Todd Howard at Bethesda Game Studios." But sadly they didn't think of that. However there is a bit of dialogue that's typically never seen. Due to quests like the Dark Brotherhood there is no ending quest. So even though you've beaten the quest line it never ends. You go collect your earnings wait a week or two and do it again. It never ends as far as I remember. And there might be a couple others like that as well. It could have been a bug or just an oversight error. But if you use console commands on the only platform not considered a Console which is a PC which infuriates me why call them console commands and yet the ones actually called gaming consoles don't have an console command option, stupid. Anyways if you use a command or what I call a cheat code. It will complete all quests and you'll get a line of which I can't recall at the moment. But if you have a PC use the command I'm sure you'll find it on one of those Oblivion web pages and find out for yourself. Anyways love these videos dude you should do more. Although other UA-camrs have done videos like these before but it would be refreshing to hear it from someone who isn't Australian or someone from England or someone from Scandinavia who constantly mispronounces names wrong even though the spoken dialog of the game clearly says how things are supposed to be pronounced. It's like when one of talks about Kotor 1 or 2 they pronounce Ebon Hawk as E Bon Hawk but the O is silent and is replaced with an E, Eben Hawk. Why they didn't just spell it that way is beyond me.
If Oblivion had this ranking system that unlocks the guild halls, think abt the ranks for certain guild halls Fighters Guild Halls: unlocks at lvl 5 Mages guild halls: unlocks at Lvl 10
I just wanted to let you know, I'm binging your Oblivion videos right now. I'm a little obsessed with Oblivion again, but I have to wait to be paid to buy it on Steam, so these videos are scratching the itch. I really just want to kill everyone and steal stuff at the end of the day, but this is bringing up great memories of doing quests and alchemy.
Funny enough there's a bug that if you complete The Desolate Mine and spend time in jail from any city,The fighter guild members who survived during the raid will wait in front of the prison or castle
Dont think i ever completed this.. but then again i cant remember what i ate last week..haha Loved the vid, watched from start to finish.. Just watched your last 2 vids and punched that follow button! Do you plan on doing similar vids for the other guilds?
Well.. its been so long since i played.. i cant even remember half the story lines.. Either one would be great.. Maybe the Assassins guild, or Dark Brotherhood.. cant remember what they called themselves in Oblivion.. I have been playing far to much Skyrim.. haha
Probably already mentioned, but if you played as an argonian modryn will mention that if the hist effected you this badly then it must be tainted in some way in order to badly afflict you despite your heritage from argonia.
I am addicted to elder scrolls lore content to relax and I have worked my way through camelworks and fudgemuppet so many times thank god a new hand touches the beacon

I’m the same I can’t get enough lore
I recommend "Dark Lore Dash"
Hands down the most thorough lore channel I know when it comes to gameplay.

Agreed. I come back to Oblivion at least once a year just because it's so nostalgic for me.
I’m playing oblivion again for the first time in years, can’t decide which guild to start off first (I’m doing the mages guild last) but considering starting the fighters guild first!!

Dude is pure consistency, uploads often, makes great content , you definitely deserve a lot more viewers bro, great work and video 🔥
Thank you man I really appreciate the continued support! :)
For real, one of the best out there.
Great content!!

Big ups for this one man. Love to see oblivion content like this made in the current day. Been watching your stuff like crazy recently.
Thank you for the support! I really appreciate it! Still one of my fav games to this day!
22:46 That's the mouse shake of a genuine jumpscare
I have consistently played this game since i was a teenager, im 27 now. It's so great to see new content coming out for this awesome game

I looooove videos like these. I hope to see more! Personally, longer is better, though I know how exhausting it can be to make them. You have my gratitude for existing and making content 😁
Cheers! Thank you for the kind words! I’ve been really enjoying making longer videos so it could be the new standard!
I've only come across your chanel recently but I have to say it is such a joy to see Oblivion being shown in depth in 2023/2024, fantastic work!😊
Thank you for the support! I love this game a lot and I’m really happy there’s still an audience for it!
Wow, buckle up and enjoy the ride. What a very long and very wonderful video. Thank you so much.
Thank you for watching! :) it’s definitely longer than the videos I normally make 😂
@@ABardsBallad I can watch it all day. Thank you for making such wonderful content.
I love to listen to these till I fall asleep (no disrespect meant, I can fall asleep to everything) I just love the ambience in combination with your voice
Glad I found you bro , Oblivion has and will always have a special place in my heart. Spent hours and hours as a kid on my 360.
I’m 34 and played fighters guild like one time. I don’t remember anything about the fighters guild. So im thankful for this video
If only Skyrim's Companions had 5% of this quest line...
and also doesn't force you to be a werewolf
Oblivion is my favourite game and i'm so happy i discovered this channel!!
Thank you for the support! :) it’s such a good game even after all these years! :)

This was really great and I hope you'll continue this design of a video. You covered the details well while not getting bogged down, so the pacing and video length were good, which can really be the bane of a more "let's play" style video.

The Fine Steel sword is just soo clean it looks like an actual Knights sword
51:10 I love Rugdumph and his malapropisms. One of my favorite interactions
I never loved the fighters guild, but the fact that you've not done much of the thieves guild is crazy! It's probably the best story in the game
The thieves guild might just have to be the next long video!
I’ve wanted a video like this for so long!!! Thank you!!
Cheers! I’m really glad you enjoyed it!
Stoked for the long form videos. Great work with this one, think I'll finally start the fighters guild now.
this was a really good video :D always nice to see people give oblivion the love it deserves
I hope you don't mind going on my falling asleep to playlist. Comfy Oblivion story and lore. Nicely narrated and good sound balance between voice, game sounds and music.
Going into a cave and then immediately coming face to face with a frost troll at 2am as a 14 year old was TERRIFYING.
Its been so long since I played this questline, good to have a recap! Great video!

can we appreciate the painting modryn did at the end? the detail!
Love your videos man. Would you ever be interested in showcasing a build video for max difficulty oblivion? Anyway keep up the great videos! ❤

The fact that the video about the WHOLE Fighters Guild video is only 1.5 h long is really telling
Such great videos, I'm so happy you made them and thanks for all your hard work.
My man Newheim is having an anaphylaxis. He is SWOLEN!
This is really great, love the channel! Top tier oblivion content.
The blades armor of oblivion is peak aesthetic.
I think the Fighter's Guild Questline is one of the best parts of Oblivion. Oreyn might be the best NPC out there (sorry to Brother Martin).
The really good thing is, the pacing, how random every day tasks are mixed up with the slowly developing story about Blackwood company.

I always liked the fighters' guild stories.
I cant wait until you cover the Dark Brotherhood
You know me, I would’ve chose a Breton. Lol only because I always do.😊
😂 I hear ya! I don’t regret choosing a nord per se, but maybe I should’ve thought it over more lol
@@ABardsBallad not at all. Nor does an excellent choice. You cannot really go wrong. I have always been fascinated with other peoples choices for characters and class options.
@@ABardsBallad I have a nine-year-old daughter, who recently just started playing Skyrim. I am absolutely enthralled with her choices.
It’s wild how through all my play throughs I have NEVER done the fighters guild
That’s crazy, on my first playthrough I did all of the. 😂 I did this one first and I loved it, it still holds a special place in my heart
For you younguns out there. The rat quest was a nod to the first fighters guild quest in morrowind where you kill rats in a dark elf ladies basement
If Oblivion had this ranking system that unlocks the guild halls, think abt the ranks for certain guild halls
Fighters Guild Halls: unlocks at lvl 5
Mages guild halls: unlocks at Lvl 10
Awesome channel dude 👌
Hey man quick question, do you record your videos in advance? It’s crazy how quick you are getting them out! Great video though.
Really appreciate it! I actually don’t record them way in advance. I just stay up later than I probably should to make them 😂
My only complaint how you say “southern” lol 😂 good content I subbed
Burz has that "Ben Affleck smoking in an alley" meme energy when you find his hiding place
Love your content!
Thank you very much for the support my friend! It means a lot! :)
Subscribed, i love listening to oblivion's lore.
Thank you for the support! :) cheers!
How about the Mages Guild storyline next. Just a suggestion...
I can definitely do it!
Funny enough there's a bug that if you complete The Desolate Mine and spend time in jail from any city,The fighter guild members who survived during the raid will wait in front of the prison or castle
I only did this guild once but the hist tree induced murder hit me in the gut lol
Me too! I really enjoyed that plot point!
"He's here somewhere, I know it."
😂😂😂 happened too many times
Dont think i ever completed this.. but then again i cant remember what i ate last week..haha
Loved the vid, watched from start to finish.. Just watched your last 2 vids and punched that follow button!
Do you plan on doing similar vids for the other guilds?
Thank you for the support! I really appreciate it! I do plan on it! Not sure which guild to do next🤔 any suggestions?
Well.. its been so long since i played.. i cant even remember half the story lines.. Either one would be great.. Maybe the Assassins guild, or Dark Brotherhood.. cant remember what they called themselves in Oblivion.. I have been playing far to much Skyrim.. haha
I've done a similar video in Polish like a week prior. Playing for a video is twice the fun :D !
What about another oblivion video about explaining the shivering isles?
It’s on my to do list! I promise! :)
Underrated content
Another Masterpiece!!!!!!!
Thank you for the support! :)
Probably already mentioned, but if you played as an argonian modryn will mention that if the hist effected you this badly then it must be tainted in some way in order to badly afflict you despite your heritage from argonia.
