naturalselector85 paul has 179 more homeruns than derek jeter, but bats .279 which is 31 points lower. derek jeters batting average is a lot better, but his power is much less. it’s hard to say who’s better. some team may need a powerful homerun hitter (paul konerko) and some teams may need someone who gets more hits but less homeruns (derek jeter). but for a very powerful batter to hit .279 lifetime, that’s very good. derek jeter certainly isn’t 50x better, and if he even is better, he wouldn’t even be 2x better than paulie
My grandfather is a lifelong Sox fan and was at this game. He was able to witness Paulie's grand slam and then Scotty Podd's walk-off. He is 84 now and has said then and still does to this day that this was the greatest night of his life.

This was a bittersweet time for me. It was so awesome the White Sox kicked butt in the 2005 World Series and won, but at the same time my father was going through chemotherapy treatment for cancer. My father held on for another year after this, but by April 2007 he passed away. Miss him.

I am not a White Sox fan however I felt bad that the sufferings and torments that the White Sox fans went through for 88 years was not put in the same light as the Red Sox the year before and how the Cubs fans were analyzed this year. There are many people who died without seeing the Sox ever win it all and I wish the media did a better job of covering all of that.

That moment when White Sox fans could collectively say "OMG We're gonna win the World Series!" There were so many heroes for the Sox that Series, but this moment almost cemented a 2-0 lead(and destined) eventual sweep of the Series.

He made them play a home game in Milwaukee after a hurricane (Zambrano no hitter), and forceably held up the sale of the team in 2012 until they went to the AL...even though Selig's former team (Milwaukee) should have moved, being that they had been in the junior circuit. Jeter and Konerko both retired in 14 and if Derek was the face of baseball during that time then Paul was its heart.

Awesome moment. Too bad Joe Buck's call was disinterested and boring. I was at the game. I've never seen a crowd go as crazy as this moment - even more than Podsednik's walk-off HR later that game.

@@spadeplaladin5 Buck was okay on this call but the Podsednik call was terrible. He seemed like he did not like the Sox at all. The AJ call too - he just seemed so bitter on them.

Paulie was one of the most stoic and composed ballplayers of his time. raising one fist after hitting the biggest homer of his career was the closest we’d ever get to him pimping it. that might be the moment I love the most about this. I get chills every single time and I’ve seen this clip probably 10,000 times

You know.... I went to game 1 & watched every pitch of this World Series, but today's the 1st time I watched this & realized that Qualls was just trying to throw a "get me over" fastball & steal strike 1 in this spot. Konerko had other plans lol

God I remember watching this game with my family. We went nuts from the thrill. 12 years later, I still remember many of the big plays that year as clear as yesterday. Also, 8 cubs fans have disliked this video.
