She’s got something that vibrating. Guessing it’s the inducer. Sometimes those old breakers get weak on one side and drop out. Reset will hold for awhile, glad you’re coming back to replace it.👍👍🇨🇦
Always seems like these houses never have lights on or windows open 😂 at any rate, as an hvac student, I love these videos. You’re a good technician and person. Thanks for the constant stream of content!!!
Saw you tapped disconnect to check for shock, you should always use the back of your hand for that so if it is live it won't contract the finger muscles & cause you to not be able to let go.
Just performed a repair on a neighbor's package unit that serves a large assembly area at his business. The inducer motor was bad and the wiring going to the motor was burned up. I initially figured it as just a short until I replaced the motor and fired off the unit. Rollout caused the wiring to burn but the motor was also bad. I vacuumed out the tubes and saw some pretty good sized holes. So, gas off and the had him sign my ticket stating that he knew the danger of operating the unit without the exchanger being replaced. Same exact thing on that one. Someone had D/C'd the rollout sensor. I have to share this one. Customer calls and says that his wiring inside the air handler was burned up along with one disconnect. He had another service company out and they repaired the wiring but couldn't make it run. No heat. I know the guy that owns the company and he's pretty reputable so I think, oh great, this is gonna suck. I go out to find a 20 year old 2 stage, 5 ton R22 York unit. Heat pump is dead. Both boards in the condenser are not showing any sign of life despite having power. At least we know why the electric strips were running so much. So, I move back to the air handler. Board was bad and I replaced. Heat strips fire off and I'm pulling 92 amps! The disconnects on the handler are 60's. My guess is that the strips have never fully sequenced. Maybe one bank or so over the years so no big deal. The air handler has 4 strips total. Two are pulling 21.3 amps and the other two 24.7 amps. You just never know what you're gonna find. Life is like a box of chocolates and sometimes they taste really bad!
i dont buhh leeve it!! i saw you put them gloves on!... not the cheapos i use, but at least they on!, now you can go mess with the disconnect and not worry about hotness..... SFMF
When you check that disconnect, check it with the back of your hand, if it is energized through the box you’re hand will automatically close taking your hand away instead of pushing it harder into the box
Looks like a Crouse Hinds disconnect. They seem to rust very bad like that one is. Glad it was a relatively simple fix!! Need one if those every now and then 😊
That's a Zinsco/Sylvania breaker in the disconnect. Those breakers are notorious for failing with one leg open, both legs welded on and/or burned buss connections. Definitely a replace for sure.
Hi, I`m watching from Serbia. I don`t know why but we don`t have that kind a systems for heating and cooling and its interesting for me. I love to fixing stuff but not HVAC :) We use Mini split systems for heating and cooling Fujitsu 12btu for 40m2 and 2 others rooms 9btu. Good job and repairs!
For any techs reading this I need help/advice. In Arkansas during severe winter weather. My downstairs heating decided to take a dump this morning. A Trane package unit with natural gas heat. This morning I noticed a bit chilly and in checking the system I noticed the blower was working but the registers seemed cooler than normal. After some time the blower would shut off but my thermostat(Nest) was still showing a Heat Call(glowing orange) and temperature was not up to temp setting. I found that if I shut off the system and let it sit for a little bit and then turned it on again the thermostat would indicate heating followed shortly by the blower working. Repeat. I called my son, who's in the business but a little ways out of town and he told me what to look for. Burners were lighting but would only burn for roughly 10-15 seconds then cycle off followed by inducer motor shutting off. As soon as inducer motor shuts off it would immediately start again followed by burner light. And it would cycle this way multiple times. I pulled the flame sensor and cleaned it with emory cloth but that didn't seem to help. No failure indications on the circuit board LED. Currently roads will be too bad for travel for at least another day or two. So not sure when I can get someone out to check. It's like 12 degrees outside now but luckily I have some portable heaters keeping the chill off. I also have an upstairs unit that works fine.
That draft motor sounded particularly grumpy. Hopefully it will not seize up any time soon. Nice work though; checked everything that might cause a callback. I'm curious about the dropped leg though; did toggling the disconnect "fix" it for the time being?
Well I like the way you tell us what you are doing and what each piece of equipment is as you go. I would like to hear a little bit more like what you use to clean those items and do you need to gap that igniter or does it come preset. Gives you a little more talk time on the video.
Haven’t seen a Lock on the Outdoor Disconnect Breaker. NO batteries in the Thermostat ? Did one of the Kids Steal the Batteries for a Toy that uses Batteries ? 😬
Also boath Milwaukee and Dewalt make some nice right-angle attachments that help with hard to get to screws would be lost without mine expasialy on old Goodmans and Jana junks
It's actually a condenser coil brush but they come in handy in many ways. Fantastic for cleaning debris off of a condenser coil before you hit it with cleaner or water, bristles won't harm the fins.
Can u dm me the song at the end of ur. Video? I've heard it before but I can remember who the artist is I have an idea but it's not the same one i thought .. thanks in advance
With amount of rust on primary cover and ur shield above burners rusted out emagain heat exchanger tubes developing pin holes already and inducer noise wow drain should have trap on it before cooling season
Well then don't need trap don't want double trap retired tech carier dealer lot of things I don't miss but still like watching and somethings I do miss 28 years ud think I wouldn't want to see another unit
So, what was the original complaint? Did someone mess with his disconnect? Or did it just lose a leg because it failed? I wasn’t clear about the cause, but it sounds like you plan to replace it on another visit. Thanks for all the great videos!
Don’t scrape too much Rust away because it’s Holding the outdoor unit together. 🤪😬👍

You sir are very humble about your work, and a HVAC GENIUS.
I noticed you cleaned the flame sensor. My local HVAC tech cleaning doesn’t help if the sensor is bad. Any thoughts?
@@paulholland3232that's kind of obvious, no?

We're hiring 😂

Nice that you can talk to different people/ customers

Owner was smart keeping a lock on his outside electric service panel.
Great work curtis 👍
Very thorough servicing of that package unit. 👍Not a fan of spark igniters! Just a trouble waiting to happen❗️Great video 👍
Curtis Another job will done thanks so much for the video
NP
Another one working and tidied up Curtis 👍 Au
Thanks 👍
Happy new year all. Good work HVAC guy.
Happy new year!

I see you switched the tool bag again lol

Yeah that happens a lot
I see it’s not just a West Virginia thing. Why does no one run the drain out on that style rheem? I don’t understand it drives me crazy.
I think the dogs scored enough points against Florida state
Ted uses a $100.00 to clean the flame sensor and you weren’t even using a dollar bill. 😂😂😂😂
Ted says a $100 dollar bill works 100 times better than a $1 bill!!
With the rates he charges, he wipes his ass with $100's.
Im still repeating "orange, brown, black, blue, red"

Got it!
Haven’t seen a Lock on the Outdoor Disconnect Breaker. NO batteries in the Thermostat ? Did one of the Kids Steal the Batteries for a Toy that uses Batteries ? 😬
Most likely has a common from transformer so no batteries needed.
Sounds like a dead bird in the inducer motor cage. Lolol holy cow, you gonna leave it like that????😮
Also boath Milwaukee and Dewalt make some nice right-angle attachments that help with hard to get to screws would be lost without mine expasialy on old Goodmans and Jana junks
Any products for dust in the home? Besides duct cleaning and upgrading to a 4-5” filter at the return box…
The system does not produce dust.
hows that inducer motor sounding
What brush is that? I’d like to pick one up for myself. Thanks!
Todd
It's actually a condenser coil brush but they come in handy in many ways. Fantastic for cleaning debris off of a condenser coil before you hit it with cleaner or water, bristles won't harm the fins.
Sounds like you need a draft motor and a disconnect both of them are in bad shap
needs a drain for the cooling season also
😊😊👍👍

Rheem has a small p-trap inside under where condenser fan needs is
Well then don't need trap don't want double trap retired tech carier dealer lot of things I don't miss but still like watching and somethings I do miss 28 years ud think I wouldn't want to see another unit
👍👍👍
Do you prefer the home owner to watch you work or leave you alone?
Inducer is on its way out
No batteries. Don't need noooo stinky batteries. lol
lol. As long as you have common you don’t.
Another fine production ... Ted cleans his flame sensors with a $100 bill ... Just saying Thx
I did not see your comment before I posted mine. 🤷🏻
Enjoy your video’s. Are you going back to the TX Trane Unit/ like to see the results.
That inducer sounded sketch !
You shure that inducer diddnt have a dirt daubber nest on the blade? Sounded out of balance.
So, what was the original complaint? Did someone mess with his disconnect? Or did it just lose a leg because it failed? I wasn’t clear about the cause, but it sounds like you plan to replace it on another visit. Thanks for all the great videos!
I think someone messed with disconnect. It was off, yet showing one leg of power when turned off.
Where is the Spanish version?😎🤣
Seems like a lot of folks have gas packs in your area. Is there. Reason for that?
Gas co gives kickbacks to the builders.
These outdoor package units ALWAYS have severe rust issues. Another reason not to like them‼️
