    Thank you for this video. I am a teacher that has spent my own money to buy things for my kids and my classroom, and my district is no where near as impoverished as yours. I cannot imagine being in that environment on a daily basis and having to put that kind of money back into your job. I don't know another profession that does that! Bless you for all that you do for those kids. I pray that your FIL improves and gets the help he needs. It is very sad to see the veterans treated the way they are. I work part-time in healthcare and it is despicable how some of them are thrown around and denied care. Here's hoping for a summer that includes some relaxation and down time!

    Tina, the end of the school year is always the worst time as you know. It will be better and you are right, some days are just like that. Hang in there, you are such a blessing to other teachers. As far as balance, as you said being a teacher is like being a mom and there is no balance. Being a teacher is all consuming.

    I have got to say I am so happy that you made this video. I have only been teaching for 2 days and I always get in the pits when I have bad days at work and I see other veteran teachers and they always seem like they have it together all of the time. Even on videos on UA-cam all you see is their best days. However, after watching you have a bad day and be human it makes me feel stronger as a teacher. Thank you for posting this video.

    Your room looks great! The new decor colors are so welcoming. The furniture arrangements have really opened up a lot of space. You've made it look so inviting! Prayers for a good resolution for your father-in-laws health issues. And I've found that one is generally "rewarded" with a lovely class after a challenging one (I believe this is your 3rd year with these youngsters 😳). Please know that I look forward to your videos which have been inspirational to this 32 year public school teacher. Take care of yourself. Seven more days!! 😊

    I love watching you, because you are so real. Yes, the health system so sucks! I know how you feel with the teen saying hurtful things. I have a grown daughter who has said the worst things just yesterday and completely broke my heart. So yes I am there and we will get through it. It's just the life of a mom and a teacher. I will be praying for you

    Sorry that you're going through such a tricky patch. Kids can be little beasts at the end of the school year! I hope your father-in-law is OK. I feel so fortunate to live somewhere where health care is free and to an excellent standard. I can't imagine how scary it is if you can't afford insurance or if your insurance runs out. I hope your enjoy your summer vacation and have some 'me time'. Your videoes are so inspiring - I always think it's like a friend sitting down and having a lovely chat!

    Aw Tina, I'm so sorry! I know how you feel. Our last day of school before all-week state testing was last Monday, and a student was so difficult she brought my co-teacher nearly to tears during an award ceremony we worked very hard on. I'm so sorry it's been difficult for you. I'm sure you are much appreciated in all aspects of your life - family, school, and UA-cam - even when you don't feel it. Much love!

    Thank you for this video. I am chugging along and have 3 days left, and some of my classes (middle school) are in check-out mode.
    I am going to take your advice and try rearranging my desks to maximize my space. Your videos help me and give me lots of great tips and encouragements. I started teaching full time in my early 40's after being around the block a little and raising three children as and it definitely helped me have a short new-teacher learning curve but I still get very exhausted physically and even more emotionally after dealing with pre-teen kids all day long. Having a couple classfuls of very well behaved and sweet kids are my Godsend as they give me energy to last the whole day.
    Hang in there and I will try snd do the same!

    That is why summer is soooo important! Can you imagine? If we didn't have the summer to recharge, not many of us would stay in teaching! Some days are just brutal! I hope that the rest of your year goes better... What's left of it! :) And... After 20 years of teaching I got rid of my teacher desk. It was nerve wracking... But I'm so happy without it now!!

It really helps me to know what I may encounter in the future as well as help me to make a more educated decision about a possible degree in primary education (English qualification of teaching age 5-11)

    Love your vlogs and it's refreshing to see that I'm not the only one who has bad days with children losing the plot. I had something similar 1 month ago in a new relief class. One of the children tried to punch me on the face. It was very distressing because he was only a year 3 child. As a sub you tend to take so much on sometimes and be so hard on yourself. I am trying to find a balance with it at the moment. I loved how you organised your room. It was funny during your video I was like " why doesn't she move the horse shoe table near the computer?", then you did eventually 😄. It looks great. I hope you have a better week. I'm so sorry to hear about your father in law. When we used to live in the US I was very shocked too by your health system especially in regards to your elderly. You are right the system is all wrong. We'll have a great week. Thanks for sharing 😉

    God bless you and your family. I truly appreciate your vlogs because sometimes being a teacher can be a lonely experience, and knowing that you go through some of the same things other teachers do, no matter how far away they are, is really comforting. I think you made awesome choices to reclaim space in your room. Just make sure the bookcases by the coatrack do not become a hiding place. Children are very sneaky.

    As the wife of a physical therapist, I understand the struggles your FIL is facing. It breaks my heart when my husband comes home from work with tears in his eyes because an elderly patient's insurance will no longer cover them and he KNOWS they would improve leaps and bounds with only 4-8 additional weeks of therapy. Unfortunately, the health care/insurance industry in this country only sees the dollars and cents, not individual patient needs, and health care providers' hands end up bound.
    I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts.

    Good morning! I have been a Para for nearly 7 years and I know what you are going through. I LOVE you videos! I am always so inspired! My future hope is to become an elementary school teacher. What are your tips for getting through the first year of teaching?

    • @tinabietler
      @tinabietler  8 років тому +1

      Just realize that the first year you might not be the best teacher in the world, but your enthusiasm and joy of finally having your own class will get you and your students through it. Be prepared to work long hours, feel completely lost sometimes, but know that come year two it starts to get easier. Also, make nice with the secretary. That's the person who is really running the school and will be your best source of info for those tough times!!!

    • @tinabietler
      @tinabietler  8 років тому +3

      Student comments I tend to take in stride. If it is a reoccurring problem I might contact a parent but the rule for bullying pretty much applies for us just like the kids. If we let the student know they hurt us we give them ammo to use against us for the rest of the year. If we shrug it off and say, "Yeah, my butts big, just more of me to love," that shuts them down. They have no come back for that.
