Sorry to hear about your family member. May they rest in peace. 2016-2017 will be my first year teaching, so I'm now anxiously awaiting your shopping list video!
I am not a teacher, but I just love your videos! They are great. I love your energy and personality! just your energy gives me a reason to be positive! Thank you so much! :)
You can purchase the large plastic wrap at moving stores/hardware stores that sell moving supplies like uhaul, homedepot, lowes, etc! It's a lifesaver!
I just want to say a big thank you for all the time and effort you put in these videos. I am starting college in the fall to be a middle childhood teacher. Even though this isn't the grade levels you teach I find your videos very informative and enjoy watching what its like for a real teacher. Hope you have a wonderful summer God Bless!
Congrats on another yr down. We have 2 more days here in nyc. When I pack up I use plastic garbage bags. I also cover my bulletin bds with black garbage bags to limit dust & sun bleaching over the summer. Enjoy your well deserved summer break :) thanks for all your great videos. I'm going into my 22 yr but still learn new ideas Thank you
1) I'm sorry about your loss. 2) large roll of plastic wrap can be purchased at hardware store 3) Congratulations on your new tables (and thank you to those who made it possible) 4) I love the shower curtain idea (agree about Amazon prime )
Thank you for making such great videos! I learn something new every time I watch! I really appreciate your willingness to share what you do in your classroom! Happy Summer Break!!!
I love your channel!! I have been watching it for a while. I have learned a lot of tips for teaching. I start my first year this fall. Thanks so much for all your helpful advice!
Hi Tina, great video, I have loved following you this year it has been really inspirational for me. I'm not a teacher, but I do manage clubs for children aged 6 to 11 so I find your videos really helpful. I was just wondering if you had thought about creating an amazon wishlist so that people can log in and send you things you need for the classroom throughout the year? Also here in the UK we had a thing called easy fundraising, what happens is you set up an account with them and then ask people to shop through them and so if they do a lot of online shopping they can buy their goods as normal and the retailer sends a percentage donation to your cause. every little helps. Enjoy your summer break, I am on the countdown too, but sadly I don't get time off until August.
Wow! your room looks great! We don't get out student list til three days before school starts. :( I was wondering if you had the time, if you could make a video on what you do the first week of school. I know everyone has their own activities. I'm having burn out and I need a few new/ and or tried and true ideas.
Yes! I use left over bulletin board paper and also old sheets. Fitted sheets work really well and most of mine came from Goodwill. I can't imagine using Saran Wrap. What a waste of both money and plastic!
I found your UA-cam channel last year in July and I watched you this full school year. I think you are a terrific teacher! Thank you so much for sharing your life it really brightens my day and keeps me inspired in teaching when I have bad days! I would love to now how you level your book? Will you keep doing the daily 5 or will you have to stop it completely? Do you have any say on this at all? Also I am so sorry for your loss sending healing energy to your family during these difficult times. Have a wonderful summer and enjoy!
It's so sad that as teachers we always have to come up with ways to make money to get the things we need for our students but those are the sacrifices we make as teachers. I don't think it'll ever change.
Hi, Tina! Love your videos! This is the wrong time of year to be watching this particular one (haha), but I was searching all your videos looking for the abc's of 4th grade document that you use. Could you share the link for the Googledoc u mentioned? Thanks!
The only teacher UA-cam channels I am really familiar with are TooCoolFotMiddleSchool, The Lettered Classroom, Sheila Jane, and myself. Teacher UA-camrs are still relatively new.
You can find the big boxes of saran wrap at Home Depot or Lowe's. Can you explain where you go to level your books? I buy all my own books and they need to be leveled. Thank you!
Remind is an awesome App. You create your own account and add your classroom to it. Then Remind gives you a user name which you then share with your parents. Your parents then register and submit your user name. It sounds complicated but it is actually quite easy. This way you can send as many text massages as you need to your parents and they can reply to you using the App yet your cell number is always private as is the parents.
Do you use butcher paper for your bulletin boards? How do you keep them from not fading over the summer? I love your channel you give me many ideas for my class.
I painted all my bulletin boards. This was my 5th year in my classroom and I just noticed when I was packing up that a few need touched up. I used black and in the past 5 years I've just chosen themes that compliment the black bulletin boards.
The environmentalist in me says stick with butcher paper. Plastic wrap will fill the landfills. Great, great tips in this video! We don't finish until June 30th!
Actually, I quite agree with you. I hate plastics. I wish the world would go back to glass milk and juice bottles and ban the sale of plastic water bottles all together. I try to use reusable materials as much as possible and encourage my students to do the same.
You think of everything! The only thing I will say when teachers leave the district please please as a new teacher remove your name. I have learned the hard way thinking the teacher had left it for me and it was the schools. Please just remove your name or let them know it's the district's.
Do you have the Google docs link for the documents you mentioned? I am going to be teaching 4th grade for first time this coming year --- need all the help I can get!
I haven't had a chance to upload it yet. I will I promise but probably next week. I have a wake and a funeral to attend today and tomorrow, I have yet to see my father to celebrate Father's Day, I have another surgery on Friday on the heel of my bad foot. Yikes! Next week I will be off my feet for a few days which means I will FINALLY have time on my hands.
Hi , I was wondering is it possible for someone who didn't have the best of grades in high school (B's and C's and the occasional D's) to become a elementary school teacher?
Of course! You might want to enroll in a community college first to get a little extra help for the first couple of years if the book work is difficult for you, then transfer to a larger college. I suggest you play to your strengths. If math was never your thing then focus on reading and social studies. If English was your biggest struggle focus on math, etc.
Yes! I had horrible grades in high school and now in college I have been on the deans list! I found my passion in education and it has made a huge difference in my learning. For sure try out a community college to get ur base classes out of the way so you aren't spending a ton if you decide teaching isn't for you. Also reach out to teachers in ur area and ask if you can shadow them for a day or take a teaching class in college just to see if you would even be interested. But to answer your question...absolutely! I've found that those who may struggled in school sometimes make the best teachers because they understand the struggle! Good luck!!!!
We use Think Books. They are very nice but I wish they were a little more durable. The touch mouse on several of them have stopped working and now the children have to use the red dot mouse which is sometimes difficult to control. I am going to look into getting cheap mice that plug into the mini laptop to make things a little easier. I meant to look at the ports before I left school but forgot to do it so that will have to wait until September.
Every time you mention sending out copies I'm jealous we don't have somewhere to send out copies to. 😂 Do you know the new reading and science series you're using?
For reading we are getting Success For All district wide. I am not totally familiar with it but there will be a lot of training over the summer. I have no clue what science series we will be getting.
+Tina Bietler We just adopted Journeys for reading in my district last year. I'm still not in love, but you know how that goes. We are adopting FOSS for science this year. I'm apprehensive but optimistic. Enjoy your summer!
I use fitted sheets to cover my bookcase and I love the convenience and protection it provides my books.
I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for you and your family. God bless.
I am going to be a first year teacher and I truly love watching all these videos they are so informative!

Your Awesome! Such an inspiration to us upcoming teachers; looking forward to the upcoming vids...:)

Hope your summer vacation is great! Can't wait to see more teaching videos from you!
Saran Wrap is a great idea! I use tablecloths from the dollar store and just tape it around things. it works well and is cheap!
I am so happy that you were blessed!!! Your students are very lucky to have you as a teacher!
Congrats on a successful year! :-)

I'm sorry Tina that someone died in your family
Happy summer
Love this video
Video request: How to level your library books. Thank you 🍎

Do you or anyone else have any recommendations for PreK teacher vlogs? I love this channel, and I would just like to add another to watch. Thanks.

She uses Fadeless... paper.
Purchase at the teacher's store (Lakeshore Learning sells it too, fyi).

+NuB82 thank you!
+Whitney Canada I like that idea. Thank you
+KD Monique You're welcome! Depending on the space you have, it can be a lot of work. However, it sure beats putting up paper every year!
Is your google doc available? How would I access? Thanks

What kind of laptops do you all use? We use Windows 7 think books.
We use MacBook.
