Woohoo! Tina you did it! I'm so happy I got to go on this journey with you and I am so excited to watch many more in the years to come! Go take a break! You deserve a vacation more than anyone I know!
its really a good work you are already doing on one channel no need of being over burdened ...and lots of work in last week ,...best of luck to you may u have more relaxing time and productive time for the family ...n yourself too...stay happy
Thank you for your well wishes. I have already started making some changes. Better meal planning, more fresh foods, and a little bible reading. Already feeling better! 😊
I hope when you get into meal planning you will make a video about it. Not just the recipes you pick but the thought processes you go through planning it all out. I need some inspiration on this. Thanks!
A Cozy Classroom I meant to write more... but apparently I never went back to finish. I wanted to say that I am also focusing on myself and getting things done that I have wanted to do for a long time during this summer. =) Sometimes we need summer to help us get back to what is important!
Something that helps me prepare my firsties for daily five is strategic buddy reading. After about 2 weeks of teaching students how to sound out words and assessing to see who can and cannot read I paired each student up. I placed my really high kids with medium kids and some of my medium kids with the struggling kids. I labeled them peanut butter and jelly knowing that the peanut butter kids were readers and the jellies struggled. They started with one book from the reading program. On Mondays and Tuesdays the peanut butters read the book to their buddies first then the jellies reread the book to the peanut butters then they would go through page by page and retell. On Wednesday and Thursdays the Jellies read the book first and followed the same procedures. They would read the same book all four days at first and would be allowed to get another little book if they finished fast. I would do this until I felt my class was ready for daily five (everyone could read something independently). It really did help them set up some of the daily five routines and some stamina.
You are so great, I really enjoy watching your vlogs. I am a first grade teacher, and mother of three. I too need to work on my health. Today was my last day of school! I cant wait to meal plan and start exercising again this upcoming week. Time to get my family back in shape! I hope you have a wonderful summer Tina!
I like the back wall the best for the plywood paper. Also, what do the teachers do who don't have air conditioners? Do they have any tips for keeping cool?
Love that paper especially the idea about putting it on the back wall. Are you still going to get them standing lights in your room ? And have you thought about getting cable ties to help with cable management around your desk area I've found it really helps and avoids the little ones pulling on them ?
Congratulations on finishing another school year! Seeing how quickly you have to get everything done to shut down your room for the summer makes me thankful for the flexibility I have at my school. I look forward to seeing your summer videos once you've had plenty of time to rest and relax. My summer plans also involve plenty of improvements/resets on the homefront.
I am seriously LOVING your new room decor/theme!! It really does seem to match your personality and is going to work so well for those little kiddos! It is so soothing!
I am super excited to see what your room looks like completely put together. It is looking amazing so far. Have a great summer and will be looking forward to your summer vlogs!
Love your pink and white trim and the "not so busy decorations. I chose to use gray bulletin board paper with the pink and white and I like is. Do you know where I can get pink letters? Creating a "Newbery/Nutmeg Nook" in my library.
Hey Tina, from Australia. Ive been watching you for a few months now, catching up on all your videos. Sad now im going to have to wait for the next one. I love, love, love your new classroom colours. Looking forward to seeing you back in the classroom to design your room. Have a great holiday!
Happy summer break! I'm jealous you get to keep everything up on your walls and know where your room is next year. We have to take everything down and I'm not sure which room I'll end up in next year.
Would you consider doing a summer makeup routine? I'm guessing it stays the same, but I'd love to see what foundation you wear during the hot summer months when we are all sweating- ha ha! Your makeup always looks fantastic.
Last year, as a first grade teacher I had tables and was able to use five of those three drawer containers. Top drawer was for all the folders, the second and third drawers were for journals. I placed a basket on top for their loose papers that were not finished or ready to turn in. It worked just fine. Welcome to summer break!
I couldn't work out whether I should laugh or cry with you. You poor thing! I thought I had pink-eye (we call it conjunctivitis here in Australia - I think it's the same thing) last term, but doctor checked and it turned out to be an allergic conjunctivitis, which was set off by normal allergens like pollens and wasn't contagious. Phew! It still felt sore and looked atrocious but at least I didn't have to throw everything out and it went away in a few days. Hope you and your family are free of it soon.
Okay, I'm totally stealing your theme! I love it! I cannot wait to start preparing my room later this summer. The colors are so gorgeous! Sure hope you do not mind!
I don't mind at all!! I am flattered. Check out my Amazon store if you want quick links to the products I used for decor! astore.amazon.com/tinabiet-20
I am new to grade one next year and will be implementing the Daily 5. I would love to see a whole video on how you are going to organize the kids, teach them them the routines, activities, set up, resources etc. Looking forward to following you next year!
This may well have been my favorite vlog ever because of the rant. I''m sorry you were (are?) sick, but that was still amazing! Thanks for keeping it in the video. Sometimes you just have to power through as a teacher!
i love your videos. i work as a preschool/daycare teacher. also going to school hoping to teach 2nd grade. will be different then teaching 2-3 year olds
Congratulations on making it until the end and for taking a personal mental break. I have questions about Donors choose projects. Please contact me as soon as you can. Thank you!
I really enjoy watching your videos. You have a nice creative eye for organizing and decorating your classroom. However, the pink seems like a better accent for an all girls classroom. Yes, society does need to move away from gender colors, but until that time arrives, neutral colors are better. Good luck to you and your 1st grade academic year. Sorry to hear about your pink eye. Best wishes. Joel

Not sure if you answered this question already but why are you going to be in the same classroom when you move to 1st grade? Are the other 1st grade classes near your room?
My Son AJ could stand to lose some weight"----ahhhh no Tina! Keep him out of your vlogs!!! He is a teen and does not need that crap from his mom posted on media!!

I know the posting has slowed down. Sorry about that. Life has been crazy lately but now that it is summer hopefully life will calm down some!
Your bulletin boards look fantastic! the wood definitely brings something to the room!
It does. I don't know why I was so hesitant to use it at first. Now I love it!
I love your vídeos. Please a revamping of homelife vídeo.
I probably will do one, just not yet. I need a few days to relax before I kick it into high gear again! 😉
i flipping loved the pink eye rant in the car!! so real! love your videos!! x

Thank you. I know her name but for the life of me that day I could not recall it.
The room matches your complexion and hair! It's awesome :) Hope the pink eye is gone now, relax and unwind! I loved watching your school year :)
Ahhhh Tina! Well done. You are a real warrior. Enjoy that first week off. You deserve it so much!

I am a teacher and I sooooooooooooooo agree about the awards. Awards lose their importance when 50 awards are given out.
Happy summer break! I'm jealous you get to keep everything up on your walls and know where your room is next year. We have to take everything down and I'm not sure which room I'll end up in next year.
I've been in your boat many times and it is a major pain!
Love the new decor!! The fire place is adorable, I'm sure your first graders are going to love it. Time to rest, have a great summer.
I am moving from fifth grade to first grade. So excited to follow your journey. Any advice would be great.
Would you consider doing a summer makeup routine? I'm guessing it stays the same, but I'd love to see what foundation you wear during the hot summer months when we are all sweating- ha ha! Your makeup always looks fantastic.
It's on my Summer To Do List!

Hi Tina
Also remember you can't pour from an empty cup. We have to look after ourselves before we can look after others.
teaching, a family.....been there. I have no idea how you even vlog one channel!! Do what is best for you! I really enjoy your vids!!!
I am new to grade one next year and will be implementing the Daily 5. I would love to see a whole video on how you are going to organize the kids, teach them them the routines, activities, set up, resources etc. Looking forward to following you next year!
I love all of the variety of your videos… From make up to planners to teaching!!😃
I can't believe how much teachers in the us seem to be expected to provide? Is it like this every where?
You are very wise to stick with just one channel, Tina. You have enough to do already !
If I add one more task to my list of must dos my he'd would probably explode. 😱
This may well have been my favorite vlog ever because of the rant. I''m sorry you were (are?) sick, but that was still amazing! Thanks for keeping it in the video. Sometimes you just have to power through as a teacher!
