i just got verizon home 5g and are savings like 60 a month from comcast it works instantly no buffering its awesome this is coming from a guy who had a gigaspeed service
Which service did you sign up ? Speed wise
Comcast was awful for me had gig service as well. Would get kicked from zombies matches all the time. I switched to att 200mbps fiber plan and never got kicked once. since my promo is over with att looking at Verizon 5G home.
I’m currently with Comcast myself and it’s aweful. Service drops every 10 mins. I’m thinking of making the switch to Verizon home internet
@@mrpokerchip26 Something is wrong with your service. I have used Comcast for 5+ years and it is rock solid.
This is great to hear because I did the same thing. Some lady came to my door from Verizon and told me internet will be $25/35 a month depending on the 2 plans and I was spending like $160 with Comcast and barely watched live TV. Glad the Verizon home is working great. Got it in the mail yesterday and I’ll set it up today
Have had the magic white box for a few months now. Was originally LTE only but I knew, from a friend, 5G was coming soon. Just had to reboot existing box when Verizon let me know 5G was up and running. Live in South Orange County CA. Download varies between 122 to 230 Mbps at different times of day. Upload averages 15 Mbps and latency 28ms. Had to experiment with location of box for best signal, upstairs near a window facing the nearest tower was the sweet spot. I have 35 smart things to support in a large home. The built in router will only support ten 2.4 GHz devices but I already had a mesh system with wired backhaul installed.
Behfor has lots of great videos to help you set up a router system. It's a one time expense that is worth doing. Get a tri-band model! Been testing/using as only source of internet for about two months. Results are very good. No dropped light switches, speakers, cameras and multiple TV's running are no issue either except an occasional brief buffer on a 4K TV. My grandson visits often and his Nintendo switch works as expected. "hey grandpa your internet is not laggy, good job!" A week ago, I cancelled Cox and signed up for UA-cam TV. (shout out!) Net savings $200.00. The square gadget is worth a try since you can cancel with no penalties.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience in detail! 👍👍
Is he really playing Nintendo or are you like my wife and call every gaming system Nintendo 😂. Any ways I'm asking because Nintendo isn't really working with a whole lot of power, fortunately. But I'm wondering how well it's doing for a Playstation or Xbox because they're much stronger consoles and what I have. Just trying to make sure this thing will be worth getting before I pull the trigger on it. I'm in the city just outside of Detroit Michigan so I'm assuming signal shouldn't be an issue and my wife has a Verizon phone already and it's seem to always run well for her. But she's also not a gamer and well just uses her phone internet for some Facebook things and that's really about it.
@@watkinsjames82 Nintendo Switch. We also have an Xbox.
Great video. Do you have a video on comparing the different QoS options like Adaptive, Traditional and Bandwidth Limiter to see which one would work best?
Thanks, I have a video on how to configure each of those modes, you just need to search "qos" in my channel page to find it. I mean each one I think has its own use case, so I don't think if I can say one is working better than the other one. It very much depends on what you want to use the QoS for. Hope that makes sense, thanks.
So I just tried Verizon 5G home internet today. It's useless for gaming. Seems good for everything else though. Upload and DL speeds were pretty good. Around 200 DL and 15 to 20 upload. But latency was atrocious. Hovered around 500 ping. Completely unplayable. If you're a gamer, stick with cable or fiber.
I just got set up with Verizon 5G home and my ping is around 30ms. It probably depends a lot on how close you are to the antenna and how clear the path is.
@@googleislame I guess it's worth a shot if you have no other choices or it saves you money. I wanted it because they had a deal locking in the price at 50 bux for ten years.
Glad it worked out for you.
My hotspot when i game on my laptop is around 40-70ms when im away at work and my internet speeds were around 250dl and 45ul … at home I tested my 5g speeds from my phone and I was getting 900+ mbs DL and 138 UL speeds . I think I am switching from xfinity to Verizon 5g internet soon
@@jakebavilacqua9229 do u dat shit is shitty fa gaming i tired. dat and tmobile 5g dat shi shitty
I thought I was the only one we switch to 5G it tucking suck it unplayable
Do you have a video on setting up Access Point to both the main router and a switch also connected to the router? is that possible to wire a mesh this way? (Asus routers)
Just picked one of these up. Can't wait to try it out! (I live in Phoenix as well)
i hope it works well 4 you, i live in phx too & just got one 😭😭
Did it work? and whats your average ping?
Any update?
@@iAmpedrosilva I actually got one recently and it’s amazing. My ping went to 20-30, no lag whatsoever at any time of the day, also it was perfect during a recent storm in CA.
Verizon also gives you a 20-30 days trial, so you can try it for free. Also, it has 2 ports for wired connection which I use for my gaming PC.
Terrible in Phoenix in my opinion
Thank you for these informative videos. I have been on a journey to find a decent router and I found your UA-cam as I was looking at the ASUS RT-ax 86u or the RT-ax86s version.
I just for the first time have been able to get internet where I live and it is T-Mobile 5G home internet. I get around 85dowm and 2.5up ping is around 60-110ms.
I was wondering if you knew if the RT-ax86 has MTU settings? I have found out that the packet size is different with these 5G connections and T-Mobile is 1420. By changing packet size I've heard that the latency improves and in general stability. Thank you!
Glad you liked the videos! I believe you can change the MTU in the ASUSWRT-Merlin firmware and not the factory firmware! It would be in the WAN settings under the "Special Requirement from ISP" section. Thanks.
@@Behfor ok thank you for the information.
You're welcome!
great video!!!
Glad you liked it :-)
It works vary well
The quality and strength of the signal from the Verizon tower determines how well 5G Home Internet works. I have a weak signal from Verizon and my service drops occasionally and has high latency. I will stick with Spectrum where my latency is below 20 ms and has solid reliability and speeds around 350 mbps.
Thanks for sharing!
Don't get your hopes up to high until you actually install & test this Verizon unit out, I was told for my address I should get 900 mb dl after installed I got 25 mb dl after many hrs with tech support they advised returning the unit & staying with my current cox broadband of 300 mb dl , I so wanted Verizon 5g to work, disappointing
I have the Verizon 5G home internet I'm getting 350Mbps down and 25Mbps up jitter is low latency is around 25-45ms I love it!
Glad to hear and thanks for sharing :-)
Anything change after a month?
@@fiercebon14 Still getting good service nothing has changed.
@@Brian7khow we looking now . I’m bouta buy the 5g Verizon joint
Yup rock solid after 3 months of service
In Charleston, SC I get 300 down, 20 up, 30 ms ping. Perfectly fine for gaming. It’s 10x faster than the speeds Time Warner use to have when I played PS3 online 10 years ago.
Thanks for sharing! That's really good 👍
Upstate SC here and have Time Warner. It's pretty good, 350+ down speed and 11 up with 20 ping.
I just moved to another house but it's like 2km from the old one. I got 25 ping in my old house with out ethernet but in the new house my dad boght a 5g router but now I get 50-80 ping. is it the router that is bad and whould it be better if I boght another kind of router or how can I fix this
It works pretty well for me guess it just depends on your area
T-Mobile Home Internet. Only play two games and works fine. Ping is Left Coast to Netherlands but fine "for me". Best Regards/Best Wishes!
I have T-Mobile home internet and have had it for a few months. It worked fine at first but now it’s acting up. So I picked up Verizon 5G ultra home internet today. Hoping that it works great for my Series X, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
As for right now, I have T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon internet in my Semi.
I’m getting 20m/s ping and 300 down in rural Alabama. Big upgrade
That's great! Thanks for sharing!
How can I be the first comment, I just realized that your videos are not showing in the feed. Stupid UA-cam. I turned on Notifications, don't want to miss these.
I don't know what is UA-cam doing but I know I have almost 30k subscribers and 24 hours after I upload any video, the number of views is usually around 500 !! Which is weird !!
Thanks for turning the notification on, that definitely helps. Cheers!
@@Behfor that certainly can dissapoint someone. Don't loose faith.
Please can you make a videos on Duel WAN with briefly , every single option.
Hi, I already have made that video, you just need to go to my channel and search "dual wan". Thanks
@@Behfor i have seen that video sir, but i want to know, like i have A, B, C devices, and i want to connect A device for primary and Secondary WAN and B & C only for primary WAN , is it possible ?
I’m kinda asking the same thing I’m trying to use both my altice one and this new Verizon box I got today how would I be able to use both until I make

so should i turn on QOS?
I'm getting 60 ms ping with packet loss on my own Cod host using this box. Need help plz
I get 250Mbps and 21upload 25 to 30ms but i get packet burst on mw2 only, do you know why that would be?? every other game runs fine.
I'm on Spectrum's ELP Internet. Pings were running around 42ms and Jitter of 4ms. I don't game, use Zoom, or have VOIP (does VoWiFi count)? 720p video streams great at 23Mbps, the max for my service.
Wow 4ms jitter is great! It looks like your internet is very stable! Thanks for sharing :-)
@@Behfor 4ms jitter is pretty average for a proper internet connection. (cable, fiber, even DSL.)
hi when im gaming my ping tends to spike but when i do speed tests i normally haved around 20/30 is their a fix ?
Nope they trash can’t game on it
Wow ty for explaining these things so a old fart like myself can understand. I just ordered mine today. I used to have Xfinity and 600 plus mbs and was happy. But where I moved I need this for my situation and believe it will do fine.
Glad you liked it 🙂👍
Stable connection is better than low ping.
100ms is acceptable to most game except shooting game.
Shooting game you want less than 30ms most of the time
I agree, thanks for sharing!
He says this in the video
I disagree fighting games also require less than 30 ms, even games like Dead Rising or dead island crash if ur over 100 ms and ur trying to play online especially if the people ur trying to play with also have high ms
what I wanna know which Verizon doesnt make very clear is how do you get the router that gives speeds of 300mbps to 1,000 mbps download?
Purchasing the 5g home plus comes with the router (I asked a 5G service expert at Verizon to confirm)
I know that this is over a month old but to answer your question: You can only get the equipment that supports the 300 to 1000 download speeds if you're in an area that has 5G UltraWideband available AND if Verizon has opened up the 5G UWB network for home internet use. I know that they recently opened up availability in New York, NY and Hoboken, NJ. But, unless you're in one of the very few special cities in the US that has the UWB network available for home internet, you're not going to be able to get that service or equipment for the time being.
@@zeroblackzx Thanks for the thorough response.
Don't bother getting this for gaming it's trash nothing but lag
You have to be in an ultra-wide band area and have a direct line of sight to the tower.
Thanks for making the video. I will give Verizon 5G Home internet a hard pass for now.
You're very welcome!
same especially as it doesn't use a gig, I have spectrum internet gig rn and was just looking for a better price since 125$/month is a lot in california
@@AliKat831 You can get Spectrum for a lot less than that. Honestly, 200 Mbps is more than enough for 99% of home users.
@@TurboSpeedWiFi no 200 gb is not enough for a house with 2 gaming pcs laptops, firesticks, ipads and multiple other devices on top of that streaming video games on twitch
Not for gaming currently have soon I will take it back
You have to connect it to a router if you want it to be good for gaming right
Yes, if your wireless router is better than the built-in router in the Verizon cube box
I live just outside of Calgary Alberta and use Telus who is our incumbent telco. It’s FTTH connection with 1Gb service. On my desktop that’s hard wired, I average 950 up/down and usually no more than 2ms ping to its Telus Mobility server in Calgary. It’s about CAD$120/mth but it comes as a bundle with other stuff. Works perfectly for me. On a side note they can’t figure out why my subdivision has poor wireless coverage so have a landline though them as well.
Thanks for sharing!
HOORAY CAN YOU DO T MOBILE TEST?
Hello not sure if you’re able to answer this, but recently a couple of weeks ago my Verizon internet gateway suddenly had super high latency like 500 ms+ and before this it was working fine. I’ve tried everything to fix this, but to no avail. Is there any solution to this?
Find anything?
Can you test the latency and jitter when it's raining?
YES I WANT TO KNOW THIS TOO....LIKE WHEN BAD WEATHER COMES
It's nowhere near as stable as a physical connection (I had it for a couple of months). Wireless never is. It's going to be effected by interference, collisions from other users, weather...
I use it and the only problem I have is when I stream it always says internet connection error only broadcasting audio
Is this happening on every device? TV, laptop, cellphone ...?
I thought this would be a good replacement for my over priced Comcast. I live in a basement apartment, and this thing is worthless for me. I like to game and my latency is so high I can no longer play my favorite online games. I’m very disappointed.
To be fair it is modeled to be put against a window or on a higher story floor
احسنت 👌
Merci :-)
I'm lagging so bad Horrible ping but download speed says 250-320
what city u in?
So is it good for gaming or not?
It sucks for gaming honestly. I tested it for 30 days and day ping spikes of over 800ms every 30 seconds or less. Completely unusable. It also will give you a strict NAT type in most games.
What he said ^ trash
5g gateway cycles between 50ms and 1000 ms every 15 seconds. Gaming is impossible, do not recommend.
I have the 5G home internet and the speed is amazing. Gaming is no issue what so ever.
@@julianwinters5868guarantee you recanting this statement 😂
Nope, It still works amazing. No idea why you'd say that.@@Overlybroke
jitter above 10 is horrible for gaming
Bruh just say yes it is good or no it isn’t and show gaming with the verizon internet 😂
Not good for gaming 💯
Garbage internet
It’s useless for gaming can’t even play warzone without lagging every game
