Verizon 5G Home Internet Reviewed! More Options, More Consumer Power

- Опубліковано 15 чер 2024
- #Verizon5GHomeInternet Let’s face it! Home internet options are terrible when it comes to consumer choice. Generally, you have two options when you move into a new neighborhood and some folks, in some places, even have just one. Well, Verizon has a service which may be just what you’re looking for. At the very least, it creates more competition. Tshaka says though that it may do much more than just open up more competition, he thinks it may be a solid option for many internet users. He dives into the service and the hardware and how they both perform.

I have had this for over two months now and have been so satisfied. No problem with cloudy weather. I have had my tv, 4 phones and an iPad running at same time and no problem. Would recommend this to anyone that can get it.
Man I hate cloudy/rainy days, my Fios acts up. I need to see if they offer 5G in my area now.
Nah man it aint that good, i get 100-200 ping avg with the occasional under 50 ping and sometimes its just complete garbage
@@KingOrangutan01 do u have Verizon LTE or 5g home internet?
I am interested in getting this do I Need good credit for Orkin anyone sign up

I have 16 smart devices running on the WiFi and have had zero issues. Getting a solid 150-200 mbs download speeds on the WiFi and 20-40 mbs unload speeds with unlimited data all for 50 bucks! I was paying Cox 50 bucks just to have unlimited data plus the price of the internet. Needless to say I cut Cox and I am very satisfied with Verizon. My son and I both do heavy multiplayer gaming and have had no issues.
It honestly just depends on your area where you live and where you put the router
Thank you for answering my question lol
Do you have a router or just this 1 device?
@@brandonnguyen1486 that’s what I want to know because I’m getting major lag spikes. It goes from 30ms to 300ms on a regular cycle.
@@GrimTravels I got the 2 routers from Linksys and they wouldn't mesh. The child node
Thank you very much for this review and everyone that commented. You all convinced me and picked one up today and am very satisfied. I went from an atrocious 3mb with frontier to over 200mb with Verizon. For those wondering why only 3mb. We just moved to a 3 bedroom mobile home. Everything is great about the home and the area but this is the gotcha part. Frontier made a deal with the management to be the sole provider for this mobile home park. They haven't updated to fiber in this area yet, so they're running on ancient dsl phone lines and are charging residents 50 bucks for 3mb. And no, it can't be upgraded. Yet. I was like hell to the nah. We're gonna figure something out and came across this video. Thank you again!
Was paying $70 per month with Spectrum. Since I use Verizon for my phone plan, I get the Home Internet for only $25 per month. I don't have heavy internet usage (At most, moderate laptop use, phone, if I watch a streaming service on my Playstation) in a small apartment. Great deal.
Just ordered it. I have two laptops for work, game consoles, and tablets. I got the $45 a month plan and it's sounding like a good deal.
Spectrum is a joke, they’ll make it very hard for u to switch or downgrade that I got fed up hence I’m switching as well and mobile as well
I have spectrum now and I'm thinking of this. I can't work at home with the spectrum connection issues.
@@Grr8jon Bradah i'd say switch, i just got mine today and took me no more than 5 min to set up plug and play, just make sure you disconnect all the spectrum stuff and you'll be good to go, u can try it for a month for free which shows how confident Verizon of their product. u can pay as low as $25 which is mind blowing, i opted for the 5G plus for $80 a month but i signed up for the autopay which drops it to $70 a month, im saving $600+ a year plus free disney channel and a soundbar or a home security system which i already have that's why i chose the soundbar. I just got tired of the monopoly type that cable companies have and what not for the past decade or so. btw ones u install the unit let it cycle through your wifi on all your devices and your download speed will increase at time goes.
Spectrum just raised basic to 300mbs. They know they can’t keep customer, so Let’s keep raising the baseline speeds?
$75 a month for 300 MB? Meh, You might as well just have an unlimited data plan through a service provider on your cell phone.
Thank you for this report and review. I have had this Verizon 5G home internet for about a week now. It is working incredibly well compared to my Orbitel service. They raised my monthly service from $82 to $102. So I am thankful like you said for competition. When I called to cancel they of course we’re going to give me all kinds of deals. Still though not as good as Verizon. I have a Casita where my son lives and he is getting no interruptions for speed with his gaming. Sometimes it can be slower if we have a lot of streams going on. Thank you for the tips on rectifying any issues early on with this service.
@reviews
Org. Awesome content! Thanks for sharing. BTW, I’m an Enterprise Wireless Solution Architect and I must congratulate you on how you presented and spoke to the nerd knobs and features on RF/Spectrum and throughput for folks that don’t quiet understand or care to. Great job and thanks again. 👊🏽
This was the first video I found that actually explains what this is and how it performs. Thank you for providing this clarity!!!
My pleasure Jerry.
I just got this installed today, I was the 6th person in the entire state to have this setup. And I must say, I am truly BLOWN away. There is literally NO buffering or latency while being connected to 9 devices. This is going to be huge. Internet providers are going to be shaking in their boots 😂 and can we talk about the fact that I have my phone, devices, and services all under one umbrella. This is the future. Bye bye Xfinity 👋🏼😂😂😂
What about for a big family w/ surplus devices?!
Good I hope stuff like this destroys xfinity. Fuck them. Worst customer service ever and they bend you over and don't even have the courtesy to use lube.
I have Xfinity now and my bill went up $30 a month, so now it’s about $110 for JUST internet. I don’t watch TV, all use is YT and some streaming network, and barely game anymore. I’m really considering it
@@MindYaBizz_Whiz same
@@MindYaBizz_Whiz did you give it a try? I just ordered mine, btw they also gave me a 30 days trial, so I can return it and would get full refund.
Nice video and excellent explanation. I do have a question in respect to weather conditions, does it work the same during snowstorms? I live in NYC and between January and February there are some snowstorms.
Thanks for adding info about your testing and sons experiences. We have the AT&T, dropped to lowest tier because price hikes, but can't their customer service.
This was one of the best reviews I've ever seen. Thank you! Currently we have internet coming into our shop with a bridge to another router in our home. Do you know if we can have a bridge with this?
This is one of the best reviews I have ever seen thank you so much!
Sure it is asslick
@@rockymilano2071 That’s not very nice.
Thank you so much for your review. You explained everything very well.
Really appreciate your review. My exact use case scenario.
Thanks for a great video. Can you connect your own router to extend the signal?
Thanks for the quality content. You've earned my sub.
This is a really great review. Make me think about getting this now. Big thumbs up!
I appreciate the excellent and concise review, it is much appreciated! You definitely make complex things easier to understand :-)
Thank you Steven!🙏🏿
Great review, thank you for info you provided. I am happy with my switch so far too.
I was paying $140 a month for just my internet with Cox. Now with this I pay for my cellphone and internet combined through Verizon for that price. Huge savings!!!
I have coz as well. How's the service with Verizon? Like what's the average speeds you get? Which plan? I'm thinking of switching to save $$$
@@Mr3jdj I get 111 down and 20 up in my area (downtown Vegas).
@@Mr3jdj I always wanted to mention that I haven’t had any lag as of yet. I work from home, so I am always on my desktop computer and cellphone. My TV, iPad, Xbox and laptop are also connected and I haven’t had any lag on any of them as of yet either. Of course service levels **may** vary based upon your geographical location, but for me personally it’s been a lifesaver for my wallet!!!
Great video answered all my questions!!
I'm happy I found your excellent review. I received a Verizon brochure in the mail for their 5G service the other day. So I had to do some research to see what's up. Currently I'm using Spectrum (230 Mbs down/10 Mbs up) and have been happy with the service. Questions I have are....is there any interference between the Verizon router and your gaming router? Did you notice any difference
with locating the Verizon router close to a window vs. not? Thanks.
I have been using this for over a year and it works really well. I haven't had any issues so far.
Solid review my dude!
You gave the best review I have seen. Thanks.
Good review. Loved it
I just got mine sunday and it took 5 minutes to set up and is working great
Thanks for the setup hints. Big help
Very well done video. Comprehensive about the information I needed to make a good decision.
It is nice to see someone who is able to break down the science, I have subscribed to your presentation
Excellent review! Thank You!!
This is such a good review bud thank you
Dude, thank you so much for going through the router setup, the buffering issue is what would have kept me from using this option and leaving me stuck with Spectrum. Verizon should clip that portion of this video to their sign up page!
How do we access this setting to make the change?
@@mrbudget4534 he literally shows you in the video.
@@forgettablelisa it’s different now and I honest to god do not know what to do lol.
@@GrimTravels hey man no joke I recently had months of issues with my speeds too, and finally did get it worked out but you HAVE to get elevated to tier 2 support. The support you initially contact is totally worthless. Just argue with them them and refuse all their useless suggestions, just say you already did it and didn’t work. Force them to open a support ticket and get the number. Once tier 2 is helping they literally call you every 72 hours until they fix the problem, now our speed is legit better than ever. I have to say again though, Verizon support is TRASH if you cannot get bumped up to actual tech support. The 1-800 and chat features are USELESS.
Wow, Shaqa, Great review I stumbled onto your site on UA-cam after my Google filter showed I purchased a VZ Gateway 5G home Internet.
Even though out here in the semi-farm rural Eastern Long Island North Fork I we have 4G LTE it’s still a great product go big the red! And thanks for insight I’ll be subscribing to you.
Great review bruh...thank you sir
Thank you for the video. I'm giving Verizon 5G a try to replace my 20+ year service with Cox Communications, which has been like having a crazy girlfriend (lots of highs and lows) for the customer experience. Really hoping I'll get more stable service and performance from Verizon. I have a tower like 100 yards from my house, line of sight, no obstructions, so hopefully that will be very good. Oh yeah, going from $90 per month to $25 is gonna be nice too.
Good review, thank you!
Great details on how attenuation plays a factor in various ways. I just bought my first home and nearly fell out of my chair when I learned that Xfinity did not lay any cable in the neighborhood, nor do they plan to. The fastest fiber speeds available go up to 100Mbps/5Mbps. Based on many searches it appears that Verizon 5G home could be my saving grace - I'm hoping it fairs out well especially with talk about them turning on the ultrawide band in the future for the tower that covers my area. 🙏
thank you I am moving to Maine and this will be much better than the local company.
Thanks for the amazing review man!
wow. wow. Great review, very thorough. Thank you. I'm getting 25mbps with AT&T and seeing your review has made up my mind to make the switch!
this was a very solid review i liked it and the honesty in it and informational thank you
🙏🏾
Thanks for review man!
What speed test website do you use? I feel like my computer mainly performs well but not my mobile devices so this Verizon review is helping me a lot in deciding if I should switch!
This is a great video. So informative!
That spawn poster in the background tho!! Just copped two spawn comic books yesterday as my first comic book purchase. Spawn was always my fav and this review helped me out so now i wait for verizon to hmu !
This was a great video, thanks for the explanation
First time stumbling across your channel. Now I’m considering moving from Cox Communications (300mbp plan $70/m) to VZ 5G. Although, I’ll need to further research coverage in my area. Great unbiased and technical overview. Subbed
Same here. Going to switch from Cox gigablast to this. Paying $168 a month for unlimited and the router just isn’t worth it. Especially when I never get the 1 gb speeds
@@Freemantrue you're a sucker if you ever pay that much
Sweet.... glad to hear this review!
I have the service after watching your video. I ordered it went really smooth. I cancelled comcast.
Great review!
Would love to see an update review.
Terrrific, highly informative! I learned a whole lot!
Excellent review.
Appreciate the review, got a card in the mail offering this for half the price of spectrum (the only provider at complex) will make the jump.
Great video. Thanks!
Nice review 👌 thanks 😊 👍 🙏
Excellent review, Tshaka. I was curious on how this faired. I have 5G in my area, unfortunately only 4G in my neighborhood/house. So I'll have to stay with my GB cable internet.
Thank you Bob! I'm envious of your GB connection. I'd love to have fiber here, but, you know.... lack of options.
“unfortunately” …. cable internet will always be better that 5g home internet
Thanks! Very informative !
I've been using this for six months or so. It is great!
Like you I have the Spectrum service at 400 Mbps for $90/mo. I tried the T-mobile home 5g service for a couple days and got 110 Mbps tops, so I sent it back. Since I'm supporting 28 wifi devices, that wasn't gonna cut it. The Verizon service isn't available here yet, though I'm only 15 miles from LA. Have you considered using your current router with the Verizon service for greater coverage?
How do you get into the Admin panel ? I have several smart devices that only work on 2.4G.....can I change them with the Admin Panel....Thanks.......Great VIDEO
Thank you so much for your information very helpful
Very insightful review, thank you. new sub here, looking forward to more content.
i just ordered this i was real skeptical. glad to see someone satisfied with it.. gonna use it at our campground since theres no other option out there for internet.
This was a great review! I really appreciate the depth! Is there a follow up?
Not yet.
Great review! We just got offered this and I am researching the product.
Thorough review and info, but a bit too technical for some of us.
How do severe storms affect this 5G service? I live in tornado alley!
Thank you for this thorough review. I need to save some money. I really do.
Super informative.
Was looking for an alternative to Spectrum since my promo price was about to expire. Placed my order for this service, thank you for this review.
Mine too it’s at $115 now smh
Love this channel!
Good video. Can you take the sim out of the device? If so, would love to drop it into my cat16 modem with 4x4 outdoor mimo's and see how it does
Thank you for the review. We just switched and are trying to connect the mini extender to the 5G Home Internet but we are unable to find directions for doing that. Will you explain the directions. Also, I will add that when we received our 5G box, it wasn't plug and play. Apparetnly, Verizon didn't associate the 5G number with our account. Took a little bit to figure out but it has worked fine since then. Now, if we could get the extender setup. :-)
Great review. Thx 👍🏽
I currently have the Verizon LTE Home Gateway. I have a router that combines it with my CenturyLink service. This keeps the Internet from going down if one of the services goes down. I have an 1,800 sqft house, so I use the mesh system for WIFI, so I have turned off the WIFI on the Verizon gateway, which I prefer anyway. I've gotten the message that I can upgrade to 5G, so I need to check it out.
very curious can to connect 2 tv's and fire stick and watch different shows at the same time and use the computer and iphone
that way i can completely get rid of my cable tv
Hi I have 5G in Indianapolis, I have the white box that goes on the window. Did they offer you to have the window box or the other device that you showed in your video.
I can't find a video comparing this router to the other model they provide. Have not had the best connection speeds so far and am wondering if it's because I received the older model of router and not this one. Signed up this week and in downtown Tucson.
I have my own router fed from a modem from WOW. If I get the Verizon router, can I use a lan cable to connect my own router, (thus not having to change any devices that were hooked up?
Excellent review Bruh!👍🏾 I’ve been waiting for Verizon’s 5g Home Service for a while because DSL and Comcast are the only options in my city( Baltimore)
Now with Verizon coming to town, Comcast will have to be competitive with their prices.
🙏🏿✊🏿
In Baltimore too. Is Verizon being wired in the city now? Did you get the 5G yet?
@@melizzamelizza yes in zip code 21213 I know for a fact they are. I had a Verizon rep come to my house and walkmme through the options.
(I hate comcast) they charge and ATM and a leg and at least once a week the internet goes down
I'm in Baltimore too and just started using T-Mobile Home 5G (Averaging 150-250mbps down 40-50mbps up). Works pretty well so far even living in an apartment with windows that face away from the closest 5G tower and surrounded by a ton of obstructions. Verizon Home 5G is supposed to have better latency, however. Latency is not super important for me right at the moment since I don't really do any online multiplayer gaming, however it might be an issue when I try to set up a remote workstation that I can access when I'm away from home. The Comcast upload speeds were killing me working from home. At 5-10mbps up, when I used Dropbox for work, it throttled it down to 700 kbps! Now on T-Mobile 5G I'm getting around 60mpbs up total which is then around 40mbps to Dropbox. Also Fios is finally being deployed to residences now in Baltimore. Mainly to large apartment buildings first. It's awesome to finally have options--I really enjoyed calling comcast to end my service.
@@chaley56
They haven’t come to my area yet!😡 My zip is 21224!😤
Can you hard wire your PS5 directly into the router? I’m asking because I’ve always had better connection for online gaming with a hard wire connection.
Does this need to be at a home or can I use it in my camper van to get wifi while I travel?
very well done brother!
The fact I can get this package for $25 a month on top of my phone... That alone can erase every flaw the system has so it'll force the cable providers to innovate/drop their prices.
After a month or 2 it goes up to 50/month, with autopay. 60$/month without autopay
Your speed will go down once your tower is congested. It sounds good, but actual world usage is not that great. Since most likely, you're going to use the internet in the evening and night, which is when the tower gets congested. I had had it for a year since I moved into my rural home that does not have ISP yet.
@@kyle19882 Prices for the low option is locked for 2 years. Prices for the upper option are locked for 3 years.
Agreed. Mine is coming tomorrow. I’m dying to ditch Spectrum.
Can I still use my wireless bridge to get to the metal building in my backyard. I use it to get Wi-Fi in my shop with Cox Cable
i live in a pretty populated city and i only bring like 10mbs and i’m not sure if it’s interference from some physical source but i get a lot of connection issues daily. is there something i’m doing wrong?
Awesome review! Thanks!
i have a wifi printer and smart light bulbs that only work with 2.4 GHz. so, will this Verizon service work?
Thank you for doing this video.
Now I just need this in my area!
Any testing done on the wired ethernet ports?
So is this service internet better than Spectrum? 3 smart TVs, laptop and playstation
Can you take it with you - say traveling to the next town over and still use it (like a hotspot)?
I have some questions, how do I connect a camera to it? Can I connect my xfinity camera to it? In the app I don’t see anything on connecting a camera.
Great video! I have Cox Cable and we have basic cable and internet and pay $290 a month. I’m sold and going to give it a try. Thanks for the review.
I’ve had the Verizon 5G home internet for almost a month and it has been fantastic! Screw Cox Cable! We watch movies and absolutely no buffering and while watching movies, my wife and our kids are online doing what we do, and no problems whatsoever! We love Verizon! We live a quarter mile from the new tower that Verizon built and that may be why we have no problems! Try it, you’ll love it! Have a great Saturday!
I have 8 cameras 3 firesticks 2 cell phones 2 Alexa plus my smart tv.. will this be enof band without any of my equipment going down
My big house uses a mesh system now, will this system handle this in its own?.
Thanks for sharing, in my area it was just offer to me and I’m on board we will see how the speed be the rep promise that it will be between 300 to 1gb. Soon as I get my unit delivered we will give it a try.
I used my old router and used the 5g router as a modem for a seamless transition. Only other thing you may need to do is enable port forwarding on the 5g admin portal and open it up for your old router (i did full range) to get stuff like PS remote play away from home working again.
Obviously turned off the wifi on the 5g router too.
What was the black box with all the holes in the shot next to the router?
Thanks for the review. I feel like some performance issues are tolerable given the price in comparison to cable internet. Some are not. Can't wait to find out.
