As a local resident & owner of The Bike Station in Damascus, MANY THANKS for your time and making people aware that we’re all still here, trying to hang on till next season. We would love to see you & as many riders as possible enjoy this beautiful trail ! DAMASCUS STRONG!! ❤
Hey, dude, when did you bike the green briar rail trail. Was it recently, and if so was the trail in decent shape. And it's got to be really cold out there
My husband was all packed up and ready to spend 3 days bikepacking the Creeper ready to leave the Saturday morning the hurricane hit. I’m sure he would love to attend a group ride, and support the local economy there. We are about 3 hours southeast of Damascus here in NC. Please keep us posted. Thank you!
Keep us posted on that spring ride, never rode the trail, but looking forward to riding it. Got a few friends interested to ride, so keep your channel posted, just subscribe to your channel. Thanks for sharing
We're in!!!! Keep us informed of your plans for a support-ride in Damascus in March/April (hopefully April!). Damascus and the Creeper trail have been on our bucket list for several years and we've procrastinated on getting there, like many, thinking it will always be there! Of course, as usual, we were wrong! But now it is on our to-do-list. In additional to this ride, we'll be headed to OBX in NC (from Ohio) in June and are always looking for a 1/2-way stopping point. Damascus is just the place. We're old-folks and will be bringing our e-bikes for the ride!
My wife & I have been to Damascus a few times on our adventures, and we love that little town! We have ridden the Creeper from Whitetop down to Damascus a couple of times and were just talking this past summer about returning to ride the lower portion. Seems like this might be a good time. As we already have several trips planned for the upcoming year, I can't promise that we could show up for your ride, but we sure would like to! I believe that our Spring Break is the first week of April this year. Thanks for sharing this info, we had been wondering about the state of the trails and the overall area. Hate to see this much damage but love to see the resolve of the community to rebuild. Hopefully the biking community, and just the outdoor community in general will rally behind their efforts and help them as much as possible.
James, in a short time you have become one of our strongest advocates. It is greatly appreciated. I will help at the local level with your group ride in the spring. We will be in touch.
Thanks for spreading the word about the Virginia Creeper trail update. It's been about five years since i've been on the trail. I feel fortunate that I was able to do it at least five times from White Top to Damascus and twice from Damascus to Abington.

Count me in on the group ride plans !! Thank you for another fantastic video and for helping to spread the awareness of the damage done by Hurricane Helene this past September. I’m good with anytime for the group ride and will be there to show my support and to of course personally meet the UA-camrs that inspire me to bikepack and ride the trails.
Great drone footage! We've done the Whitetop to Damascus ride several times and are heartbroken about the damage. Count us in for a group ride in the spring.

Been following sense the cranberry snow trip thanks so much for what you are doing , I shared you last video to all my followers on FB and IG close to 20K , I’m some what local to Damascus bout 30min , it’s so devastating the damage , I just got done a week or so ago riding from the Maine border to southern va rising money for the Appalachia community’s teamed with ALDHA 2,000 total which was so amazing. I would be down for the group ride if I’m in the area , also let me know if you end up on the New river trail in the area it’s part of the Grayson gravel long haul it also has tons of damage but I’m 2miles from it in Draper VA
@@mischiefonthetrail8961 I biked the new river trail earlier this year when all I had to do was bipass the bridges they’ve don’t maintenance on. I just found out recently that it was damaged too. We had reservations to ride last summer, before my wife took a tumble and broke her wrist. So we plan on trying it again this summer. And then while we are out there day trip some of the AT high points.
I thought the hurricane damage was pretty much just North Carolina. I had no idea the Creeper Trail had been damaged.. Unfortunately it looks like a long process if it ever gets opened back up. No idea that part is open. Was set to come to Damascus back in October with my son but a medical issue got in the way. You let us know what time in the Spring and we will be there!
If I’m not mistaken, the Town of Abingdon maintains the trail from Abingdon to Alvarado. The little park there with the Gazebo in Alvarado is a Town of Abingdon park and allows camping. Then the town of Damascus maintains the trail from Alvarado into Damascus. So shout out to the town of Abingdon as well. The half you rode is usually the half I ride when I’m able to get away for the afternoon. That part has its history too when the tornado took out the trestle at the farm. Oh and the gates, I’ve come to learn how to stay on the bike when going through them. :)
