Hi, my name is Jose. I live in NYC and I am also a quadriplegic since the age of 18. Thank you for all you do. I feel inspired to lose some weight and go back to my manual wheelchair and do the many things I used to do back when I was younger. I am no 50 years old and although I have given up on so many things, you demonstrate that I should not. I truly miss my manual chair.
I've never used a manual chair other than a few tries in therapy, let's do this Jose! I'm with you I need to loose weight and push my body, I just imagine if I can self transfer as a C6/C7 at my weight of 265 imagine if I can get to 200?? I agree I'm grateful for all the SCI UA-camRS ir there inspiring us.
Great video thanks for sharing! I am a c5-6 complete and like you learned to transfer using the 3 point pivot on my leading elbow...I've been doing it since I learned 38 years ago and although i'm heavier now, still transfer in and out of most places although can't go as low or high as i once did! One thing I found that helps me (keeps the chair from escaping) is I have caster pin locks to keep the casters from turning ...keeps the chair more stable for me! Keep on rolling sir, after almost 40 years in a chair I still have not gone to a power chair although i do use a smart drive now!...shoulders still good!
Bravo! I took some good tips from you, especially the breathing part. You’ve got a much stronger arms than I do, and I do have the advantage of good torso control. During this downtime i have accomplished new maneuvers and made some gains
You make that look easy. I'm a T6 incomplete with crazy spasms. I'm a bigger guy, so I can't bend how you do. I rarely get on the couch 😩 lol Good job man!
Yeah spasms can be really tricky to deal with. And I've gotten surprised by a few myself but usually I can feel them building up so I know when to move and when not to move lol. Sorry about taking so long to respond and hope all is well! 🤙
@@LiveToRoll you're good man, yeah I can feel the buildup.. I have to like pause and everyone is like - why did you stop? and I know if i move any, a leg is gonna go haywire and i'll end up on the floor lol
No I don't have triceps, when they do the tests on me I can extend my arm at 0 gravity so completely level. As soon as I try to fight any gravity at all, I can't extend my arms.
Hey, I'm Josh, C6 quad. That's pretty impressive. I suffer from severe spasms. The little leg hops you get seam pretty tame. When I try to transfer my back tends to spasm and I open up causing me to slide forward in my chair losing all ability to control myself. Do you have spasms like that? I'd really like to be more independents.

You can both do it! A manual chair will definitely help lose some weight and I lighter frame is easier to push and transfer 💪👊

Inspiring! What is your weight and height? I would think that a quad has to be very lightweight to do what you did.
Man you are really strong!! Excellent work!! Don't you have triceps at all?

@@LiveToRoll ok I see your videos, you are really strong!! Keep doing everything you do! Nice!
Thanks for the support! :)

Do you have a lot of core tone? Seems your core is stable for the most part
I do have a lot of tone in my whole body and yes definitely in my core. It does help with keeping me stable but it's a pain in the ass sometimes lol.
Thanks for your videos I’m a C5 and you help me have goals
Fist bump
You make it look so easy :(
That transfer definitely wasn't easy lol but yeah it's just a lot of practice doing it for almost 15 years now
Johnny Knoxville is that you? I really enjoy your movies.
how tall are you?
I'm 6'1"
