I know it's a lot of work to even make this video but thanks for the hard work . I'm paralyzed on my right side meaning hand arm and leg but hopefully I can recover some and be able to drive. God bless you bro
Hey! So I've reached out to you before and you've always have been super helpful! First, what is the device that helps power your wheels? We bought a smart drive power assist for my fiance and it's pooped out within a year. Second, my fiance is a c5 c6, looks to be about as mobile as you, but he hasn't driven since his accident. What would be first steps to try. I thought about getting hand controls for my car so he can practice but I don't know if it's practical. With help he can transfer into the passanger side but I'm not sure if the steering wheel on the drivers side would be problematic. Thanks for your help through the years!
Hey! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys but I've had a busier week and missed your comment. My wheels are called e-motion Wheels made by alber. They are a power assist wheel versus the smart drive which is just a power drive and you don't have to push. With my wheels I still have to push the wheels continually to move forward. Are the smart drives not under warranty? Seems like they should last a little longer than that but I don't know too much about them. I have several friends that use them but usually only when they have to be pushing a lot. I know insurance even medical now will pay for smart drives for people so you may be able to get a new one through insurance or something like that. For driving, if he can get in the driver side and his legs comfortably under there then you can maybe try practicing but you are actually supposed to practice with a certified instructor. They usually have adaptive driving classes at rehab hospitals but what area were you guys in again?
@@LiveToRoll thank you for responding! We need to check on the warranty but we've been fighting insurance over catheters, sci life amirite! Lol. So I've been forgetting. But we're in Denver so maybe we should call Craig. He's due for a re-eval so we'll look into it! Thank you for everything!
I have a Dodge grand caravan with a lift. that van is a freaking godsend. my grandfather was kind enough to buy it when my car shit the bed. it doesn't have a turning seat yet, I am still able to maneuver myself from my chair to driver's seat. also I still have movement in my right leg so I haven't needed hand controls yet... I saw an inexpensive portable set on allegromedical.com for less than 200. I'm going to buy them and train myself to drive with them out in the country where I first learned to drive- that way the day I really need them I'll have them. can't afford driver rehab, so I have to figure it out the old fashioned way.
+Arturo de la Cerda Yes that is a track or race mirror.. I like having a wider rearview since turning my head all the way back doesn't work well for me.
When I first went through diver rehab, they recommended I get a tack mirror. Now that I own a Braun Entertain I will give driver rehab a second shot. Thanks!
That transfer was legit!
