- Note: this was a practice run, not the actual Big 20 #5 race. The actual race video doesn't feature a webcam nor microphone and ended up being 12 minutes slower, so I found this practice run to be more entertaining.

Metroid was the first NES game I played. My babysitter had the game and brought it over whenever he was looking over my brother and I. He taught me the Justin Bailey code and I explored the hell out of that game without Nintendo Power. I remember I asked for the game for my birthday and mom said it was sold out from Toys R Us. Then on my bday, I got it. She was good at that ha ha ha. I'll never forget when I finally beat Mother Brain, I was cheering and jumping for joy, my Dad was reading the paper and mom was in the kitchen looking over and said, way to go! Then I hear the iconic escape music start, I turn around and I shouted, oh crap! Mom's eyes widened and Dad just started to laugh (I was almost 7 at the time and heard the word from my babysitter lmfao). I made it through and thought I was gonna get punished, but mom said, I won't spoil your victory, but if you say that word again, it's vinegar in your mouth. Good times ha ha ha.
Whenever I see these NES games I can remember exactly how old I was and where I first played the games.

Man, I started gaming on the 2600, and it's amazing how that simplistic type stuff was so entertaining. It kinda sucks that games have gotten so sophisticated that it's hard to go back to those old one screen, high score type games and be thoroughly entertained after the 20 seconds of nostalgia wears off, with the exception of a very few games, such as Haunted House, the fishing game by Activision, Yars Revenge, Pitfall, and Berzerk. It's nice to look back and see how simple things used to be. How about a big middle finger to aging, everybody?
same here, started way back on the 2600, I remember getting mega Man 2 on my NES and thinking how can it get any better! I just got Star Wars the Force Unleashed on switch and the character models are so funny, but back it 2008 I was in awe of that game.

games Now adays are not games to be played and remembered any more like these past games from the 80's .
now they are over polished over complicated messes that have no meaning and no personality to them. The programmers are just payed to throw stuff into a big box of over complexity sell it and make money
@@HappyMealBieber I grew up in the 80’s, but how can a game be “over polished?” Wtf? Games today are amazing, hence why it’s boring to play most of these games longer than 10 min or so. There are some stand out classics though.

I kinda get what he meant by 'over polished'. I think there was a study even, that overly superb graphics can distract you from the gameplay (put the focus out of the character but on the background). I think you inadvertently pointed out the problem as well, 'games today are amazing'. Amazing in what way though? Graphics looks fantastic, sure, but the actual gameplay?
I think there is/was a tendency among the devs as well. They shift focus too much on graphics because that gives the 'wow' factor, draws in attention, publicity. As in, manpower is wasted on non-gameplay related matters. There was a problem in the animation/cartoon department. Old animators/cartoonist knew how to draw and make stuff. Today ones, less so. There was an animator who only worked on animating waves stuff. In game developing department, devs who worked only on wave/ripple of Batman's cape in Arkham games come to mind.
Also, in terms of online/multiplayer games, company's focus is less about creating a good game, but that will keep the playerbase hooked up, to hold them on to keep play the game. This doesn't necessarily mean good gameplay but to get addictive, even if it's from repetitive task, for the thrill of lootbox or whatever.

S Pit fall has to be in the top 10 Worst games ever for the NES. it looks like they ripped mario bros for the character and the rest of the game looks completely random like they just wipped it together to sell to people for 50$ and make a quick money grab
