The ES screw frequently crops up in the EICR course regarding its centre connection to the line conductor. Being an old fogey I still call it Live.

For me, the heat coming off the older incandescent isn’t ‘wasted energy’, because I enjoy the warmth it produces, especially in winter 🥶

Filament lamps still has applications. I doubt they will be eliminated. I'm all for efficiency. I love effeciency.

I have to disagree that the halogen lamp is more efficient than the incandescent lamp simply because the halogen lamp gets a lot hotter than an incandescent lamp,
Fantastic presentation Gaz and Joe as always 👍

Its more efficent because its hotter. Do more research about black body radiation.

Hey I have a lamp and I really don't know which bulb I need. The bulb holder looks very odd. Is there a way that I can show it to you and get your advise? 😛

I have a small filament bulb but I don't know what it is ,if I have to describe it the then according to Google it's shape is called t10 inside it there is a resistor I can't see the 4 colour bands properly but it think it is green, blue, orange and gold and the filament is a little different the poles are not connected to each other inside the bulb.on one pole there is a slightly tilted ring the upper side of the ring is silver color and below it is green and on the other pole there is a kind of a plate of the same type of silver and green colour. Outside on the metal part of the bulb body there is written N-220V / S
So please tell me what is it?

I have seen bayonet LED lights. How do these work, do they still have no polarity, even though they use Diodes?

It is a AC circuit so it does not matter as EMF goes both ways

What’s a Type A lightbulb? That’s what it says on the sticker on the lamp. Give me an example, if you can. I don’t know what to buy.

LED lights are actually bad for your eyes. So "progress" comes with a price. The incandescent lamps are closer to the light spectrum of the sun, which was what our eyes were designed for.
