It's even better because their "millennial metaphor" is not only aimed at millennials, but very young children who are now being blamed for being young?

They are actually creating a generation that at this point can’t wait for their parents and grandparents to die so they can be free of this judgment and anger and actually move on. I have seen so many kids now saying something to the effect of “I can’t wait u til these old people die!”
The movie is basically Creed, where Lightning McQueen is Rocky and a younger car is Creed.

Honestly - the worst part this is a KIDS MOVIE. Who the fuck thought making a a KIDS MOVIE about aging and how young people are baad is a GOOD IDEA?!
I'm pretty sure Grave of the Fireflies did the same thing. People call it an anti-war movie but the director explicitly stated it was a "Japanese young people in the go-go 1980s are stupid and entitled and don't know how good they have it compared to their parents who got firebombed all the time in WW2" movie, with the main character even GLARING ANGRILY AT THE AUDIENCE in the final scene when he and his three-year-old sister are ghosts overlooking the bright lights of modern-day Kobe.
The kicker? It was shown as a double feature with My Neighbor Totoro.
ToruKun1 so the director was... angry that post-war japanese kids weren't getting firebombed to death??? like if i went thru some traumatic war & my kids were lucky enough to be born in an era of peace i would be thankful, not angry. old peoples' priorities are weird, man.
I think it's a Japanese "you need to respect your elders" filial piety thing, there were a lot of shows and movies in Japan in the 80s that were inspired by teenagers acting "out of control" (i.e., being loud, wearing garish clothes, and littering) and taking things for granted due to all their newfound economic freedom (usually in the form of joining bosozoku gangs; there's a reason the main characters in Akira are all biker punks)

I'm so glad you included that photo of Joel McHale from that shitty sitcom. The first time I saw a commercial for that, I was like "Well, you'll sure be happy you left The Soup in 10 episodes."

Griffin went through, like, all 5 stages of grief over the course of 3 minutes.
This is fucking spectacular oh my god. All of the expressions are golden, your design for nick is fantastic, and on a slightly irrelevant note i love the way you draw hands????? I love this
GUYS. cars 3 zagged on us. the plot of the movie is about a millenial latina girl struggling to achieve her dreams because of her race + gender. it portrays mcqueen as an asshole for judging her for being younger than him. the character cruz is literally based on her latina voice actor who struggled to get into the industry because of her background. this is amazing

I mean I was already down on this movie because of Carmie Hammer, but I am absolutely ready to watch this movie thirty times and live the rest of my life in regret.

Now, one of my favourite moments in the entirety of animatic history is seeing mischievous Griffin shaking hands with the Pixar lamp as he holds his fingers crossed behind his back. I never would have guessed that I'd love this so much!
I'm so thankful this exists. I didn't know they talked about this (too many McElroy things, not enough time to listen) so not only do I appreciate that, but the fact you animated four and a half minutes of dialogue! Good job. Your art style here is nice and simple and you get across important feelings very well. I like the snappy cuts and the expressions particularly well. If this was fun to do, please do more! I sure would love to see more stuff from you.

Wow, Griffin's revenge plan here is so revolutionary. "Let's make a video game based on a movie, only this time, we're gonna make one that sucks. It's nice to get a glimpse of the sort of outside the box thinking befitting a true 30 under 30 media luminary.

did not expect to find such biting political commentary in the archives of these good carboys. (or the one good carboy and the other one.)
But.. the cars.. do go in cars.. that was the whole catalyst for the first movie, the car was in the back of a truck that was taking the car to another place and the car fell out of the big car..

I love this animation! It's a great little moment. The hands are so expressive and the style is endearing. One thing: the two frames at 2:31-2:36 have Griffin's right hand facing the wrong way out. If you ever revisit this, it's the only thing you'd really need to change.

I'm at least glad that millennials because all the older generations are complaining on how "narcissistic" and "entitled" we are. Millennials as individuals mostly try not to fall into those negative qualities or at the very least are aware of them so we might not be as pissy when we are the old generation after experiencing that the young ones
Those same old people used to have an older generation that saw them as narcissistic and entitled, and used to be seen as foolish and radical in their own time.
Honestly, young people just should stop caring about what older people think and just live life. Older people will always be afraid of being left behind or dying and will project that fear onto young people. Young people will make mistakes no matter how much "advice" they get because they're young and dumb and the world is constantly changing.
So basically, fuck it. Just live life and try to be happy. Don't bust your ass for insecure people who will always find reasons to dislike you.

In the first cars movie (I think) they are inside a semi-truck (it of course is sentient like the rest) because it was a faster means of transportation and they could sleep while travelling, it would be like giving your friend a piggy-back ride. A really weird, ackward piggy-back ride.
