Nedumudi venu, Mohanlal, Yesudoss and all others have combined together so well to produce such an immortal song. Well, the lyricist himself is the bearded person and composer himself give voice for him in this song (not MG Sreekumar).The composition is a raagamaalika (Hindolam, Thodi, Panthuvarali, Abhogi, Mohanam, Shanmukhapriya, Sankarabharanam, Kalyani, Chakravakam, Revati).
There is no shankarabharanam.

Ooof ! What song ! This can easily be called as one of the best songs in the world. See the jugalbandi or Dr Balamuralikrishna and Yesudas, the two legends of Indian music. What a composition and lyrics. Nobody who wants to know what music is can miss out on this song. Never probably in Indian cinema has such a song be picturised with so much authenticity. And what a super acting by Mohanlal, anybody who listens and sees this song will automatically get into the soul of Mohanlal and enjoy as if they are singing this song.
Truly yesudas's rendering and Raveendran mash's masterly composition made this song divine and undisputedly they are avatars, which perhaps occurs one in a millenium. The lyrics is written by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri. He is ah accomplished singer too. He is the one who acted opposite lal sir. The lyrics talks about each of the 7 musical notes and how it’s inspired from animals and birds.

Hindolam, Thodi, Panthuvarali, Abhogi, Mohanam, Sankarabharanam,

The song starts with Hindolam raagam by Sharath Sir ( Kaithapram Damodaram Namboodiri in the movie).
Then the song switches to Thoni raagam by Mohanlal (Yesudas).
Then the competition starts.
സ Sa - Shadjam. In Panthuvarali raagam. Mayoora Nadham - This stanza describes about Peacock's voice.
രി Ri - Rishabham - Abhovi raagam. This stanza describes about Shiva's vehicle Nandhi.
After that there is a chitha swaram in Mohana raagam which switches from Ri to Ga
ഗ Ga - Gaandharam - Mohana raagam . This stanza describes about Goat's voice.
Then there is chitha swaram to switch over from Mohana raagam to Shanmukhapriya raagam.
മ Ma- Madhyamam - Shanmukhapriya raagam . This stanza describes about krounjam ( a particular bird's voice)
പ Pa- Panchamam. Kalyani raagam. This stanza describes about sweet sound of kuil Bird (The Indian Cuckoo).
