bro....ive been a deep-house head since the 90's, your on point. im jealous of your simplicity (you know what i mean im sure) raw-original etc. "deep" ....i havnt been able to finish a track for years. But ya man, love your deepness, keep it coming!
The absolute joy and enthusiasm that you have in your videos is so contagious and encouraging! I don't even use any Elektron devices but love watching you work your flow! Favorite channel on UA-cam by far
Appreciate you, Ricky--always rewarding to hear you think aloud with us, and I love how comfortable you are sharing the mistakes, happy accidents, and sketches... Just shows how powerful a little vulnerability can truly be! Have a lovely New Year, sir!
For sure. Especially talking thru the oopsie-poopsies, instead of trying to sweep them under the rug. And trying things out, loving it when it works. Keeping it real.
I spend most of my time playing guitar but I watch more of your videos than guitar videos. As always, the vibe is immaculate. We're lucky to have you in LA
Wow good busy man, sounds very nice, well balanced and it got me dancing through my house lol. You are using these machines to their full potential, awesome to see! Cheers!!
ricky man i’ve been up and down this niche music rabbit hole and damn dude. so much respect. thanks for always being a real one love to see these machines in full action
Such a great vibe, brother! The explanation of your process gives me confidence to aspire to this level. All the equipment can seem overwhelming but it’s clear what everything’s purpose is in your setup. 🙏🌞
That was a great watch. Love this format of thinking out loud while you practice. Better than a polished finished product in many ways, it's like we're jamming with you
And I thought you only could do this on a dj controller. Very inspirational. A personal goal for me in 2023! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Appreciate the good vibes you present us with!
Second track was saucy af. Love your work man, thank you for sharing such useful knowledge. While I don't understand a lot of what you're doing, it's great to see the final product 👌
truly an artist wow ive been into electronic for many years and have never enjoyed a live set until i watched this. this is amazing! all the best on your live shows!
Realy nice vibes man. I love your commentary through it all too. It's cool to get a bit of an understanding of what the different bits of hardware are doing.
Your videos always manage to bring forward the fun of live performing. This one, for instance, really makes me regret selling my Elektron gear! Happy Holidays from Montréal
For me, this is one of the most helpful vids you've ever made Ricky. Not only that... this sounds like it's gonna be a banging set! Would love to see more of these live set thought process vids! Not enough of this kinda content I think.
Best Christmas gift ever! Thanks for sharing your music and your unmatched energy and good vibes! All the best and can’t wait to see what get up to in 2023 brother!
So dope Ricky! Always appreciate how open and down to earth you are with breaking down your process, embracing the little mixups and not taking yourself too seriously : ) If you have a chance to bring this live set to Berlin I'll be there!
I remember your “Digitakt vs TR-8s” for live video, it was one of the reasons I got one. Dude, I know you love your Digitakt but looking at your live rig, a Tr-8s (with SD card full of your user samples) would fit soooo sweet into your set! And no disrespect to Elektron but, sorry! For live performance Roland TR-8s. All the way!!!
Love your channel Ricky! Just a suggestion. Looking at the way you've laid out the gear, I couldn't help thinking you could have the Elektrons side by side. Then have the Peak either fitted with the Novation Peak stand, or sitting on something like KVGear adapt L1 rack, sitting behind the Elektrons with the cables going underneath. I've used both and they're solid options.
Love the "UNDERGROUND" 💪vibe. Goes to show that it doesn't have to be commercial, to get your GROOVE on💖 Could you imagine a live set "Collab" between Richie Hawtin & Ricky, pure MADNESS😜👍
Novation "components" software made it super easy to change up the perameters on my LCXL, thanks for the tips, i have Cue send vol. and LFO mappings on my second page, watch out for value jumping!
You're a good musician. I don't make this style (I am not interested in sampling outside of my own work or friend group except for dialogue bits) but you've really got your head around it. I know you are in LA but there's a real NYC/Masters At Work vibe to this stuff and I hope you take that as a compliment. On Thanksgiving Eve I played a gig with the Force instead of that big mess of stuff you've seen at Knobcon. Still had the keys etc, but all the sequenced stuff was prepared ahead of time and my interaction with the material was only via macros and row selection/mutes. It changed my life. Now I have to rip that big thing apart and construct something smaller, probably the "final form" of my Hot Mix Five case (Juno, x0xb0x, ESX-1, TR-909, TR-808) that you might have seen at one time. it'll probably be Force, two TR-8s, MB-33, and a "juno 6 substitute" of some kind. After I get that built, I know exactly what kind of house sets i could play with _just_ that and it's pretty exciting. I would need to figure out how to find gigs though lol
For the first track the pitch of the vocal sample was maybe a bit bothering, maybe a third up would let the long notes sit better with the backing :) nice to see you having the courage to play the elektrons live. Always enjoyed your music, you inspired me buying cycles+digitakt as well and theyve been such a nice addon for music production! Whether i need a kick to daw or a transisition or some nice percs to color tracks they can do so many things
bro....ive been a deep-house head since the 90's, your on point. im jealous of your simplicity (you know what i mean im sure) raw-original etc. "deep" ....i havnt been able to finish a track for years. But ya man, love your deepness, keep it coming!
I've stopped producing studio stuff. Live production is just so much more enjoyable. Sometimes I'll record the set.
Watching Ricky have fun, kill it, make mistakes and talk about his process is the best thing on YT. Keep it coming
The absolute joy and enthusiasm that you have in your videos is so contagious and encouraging! I don't even use any Elektron devices but love watching you work your flow! Favorite channel on UA-cam by far
"promise not to get too Rebilet" - killing me, man! Setup sounds awesome!
Appreciate you, Ricky--always rewarding to hear you think aloud with us, and I love how comfortable you are sharing the mistakes, happy accidents, and sketches... Just shows how powerful a little vulnerability can truly be! Have a lovely New Year, sir!
Cool hearing Him talking through what He is doing, I prefer that to just music.
For sure. Especially talking thru the oopsie-poopsies, instead of trying to sweep them under the rug. And trying things out, loving it when it works. Keeping it real.
@@GizzyDillespee That's the thing about live, you make a mistake you just roll with it and theres a chance that most people would not notice it.
It's the !little mistakes and happy accidents that make every performance a one-off and give it that organic human feel. Love it.
So sick, each tune is a banger. Now all we need is a Ricky Tinez world tour!
haha! maybe one day! who knows
@@RickyTinez I'd see ya in the UK!
@@RickyTinez Yea, just don't be greedy and come to New Orleans.
@@RickyTinez thats the spirit brother! x
That's not a bad idea. Come to Melbourne @RickyTinez you'll do so well here.
I hope you make it over to the UK sometime soon because I'd love to see this live
Yesss please! And the rest of Europe - you could start in Ireland, ferry from Swansea... Just sayin'!
Same here would definitely travel to whatever city he plays in. This channels been such an inspiration for time now
I'd definitely go see Ricky in London if He comes over plenty of bars and clubs would give Him a gig.
@@HOLLASOUNDS he’s played in London before hasn’t he?
@@ChrispyDubstep I have no idea but I assume He has been to the UK for Novation as alot of the people who work for Novation are in the UK.
Dude I love your vibe. The mood lighting, the intro.. The way you make your videos and convey your though process. This channel is awesome!
Thanks a zillion for sharing this! For all of us mortals, it's good to see the process, the imperfections... gives me hope!
Love how classic your house sounds.
Yes! This kind of house music we want to listen to, unlike pop&rnb-ish trash
Same
Thanks Dawless! The stuff you got on your channel is sick too! Thanks for sharing
Hell yeah Ricky! Sounds great! 😊
I left at 1:45. I was expecting the shirt to come off... Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas!
This is totally amazing, I have been following your channel for the past four years and this is your absolute PEAK
It is so nice to see a master at work like this. Sick tunes, tons of inspiration.
This ain't my genre of music, but I can still appreciate talent and groove. Rick Prime killin it as per usual.
It amazing how after all these years the octatrack still holds its own.
would love to see more performances vids like this where you talk through everything, i love watching people play hardware setups like this!!
I really appreciate the peek behind the curtain. Your videos are always helpful and instructive in some way.
I spend most of my time playing guitar but I watch more of your videos than guitar videos. As always, the vibe is immaculate. We're lucky to have you in LA
Dude you are my HERO!!! Thanks for show casing your process! Getting the chance to go on your sonic journey was...!
I might become a hermit if i had this talent and power. No one ever seeing me again, just sending tracks out of my den for the world.
That 3rd track is such a banger, thx as always for sharing Rick! Good luck w your set and enjoy it 🙏
Wow good busy man, sounds very nice, well balanced and it got me dancing through my house lol. You are using these machines to their full potential, awesome to see! Cheers!!
Great set, and also very inspirational. Thanks so much for walking us through the process!
Slick transitions. You're going to kill it on the dance floor 🕺💃
I don't understand the half of the stuff you are doing but your enthusiasm, sincerity, great sounds and professionalism makes it so entertaining! 😂
ricky man i’ve been up and down this niche music rabbit hole and damn dude. so much respect. thanks for always being a real one
love to see these machines in full action
Such a great vibe, brother! The explanation of your process gives me confidence to aspire to this level. All the equipment can seem overwhelming but it’s clear what everything’s purpose is in your setup. 🙏🌞
groovy baby love the setup, always inspired after watching your vids.
That was a great watch. Love this format of thinking out loud while you practice. Better than a polished finished product in many ways, it's like we're jamming with you
noticed the Leon Bridges-Sample from the first chord. What a funky flip, Ricky! 🔥
And I thought you only could do this on a dj controller. Very inspirational. A personal goal for me in 2023! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Appreciate the good vibes you present us with!
Man! Huge respect for „share the knowledge“
All the best to you and your family Ricky …brilliant video as always..hope you have a great 2023
Very good grooves and moods. Makes me smile man. Thanks for sharing all that valuable content!!!
Track 3 is awesome, keep the good work and thanks for sharing!!
Second track was saucy af. Love your work man, thank you for sharing such useful knowledge. While I don't understand a lot of what you're doing, it's great to see the final product 👌
This is amazing! Thanks brother for all that you share. Your experiments in developing the optimal setup has helped me learn a lot.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you.
Same to you Jason! Thanks for coming by
@@RickyTinez my cat is totally digging your groove tonight.
truly an artist wow ive been into electronic for many years and have never enjoyed a live set until i watched this. this is amazing! all the best on your live shows!
that second trick is perfect, love that chord change and sample. Nice work as always.
Realy nice vibes man. I love your commentary through it all too. It's cool to get a bit of an understanding of what the different bits of hardware are doing.

this is amazing and sounds so wonderfully groovy and vibey ugh!

Dude this is absolute fire. You are a huge inspiration! Please let me know if you ever come to Portland, OR!
Great to see it coming together for you - hope you are happy with it
Killer stuff! the Octatracks reverb does indeed sound a bit tired but also no one at a live show is gonna care. Your little euro fx box is great.
Super cool of you to share this process
that was sick! loved the ending track and all the hype along the way
Such a great classic deep house sound to your stuff Ricky. Hard to believe these are not finished polished tracks.
Good grooves and hanks for taking us through it. Love more info on the setup and u have things laid out
I love it!
probably the sickest live setup ive seen my dude. That modular effect unit is insane.
We need more live streams like this. Thank you for being clothed. 😀
Such a dope set. It really inspires me to try putting together my own stuff one day!
So dope Ricky! Always appreciate how open and down to earth you are with breaking down your process, embracing the little mixups and not taking yourself too seriously : ) If you have a chance to bring this live set to Berlin I'll be there!

Damn, this is some classic house sounds if I ever heard any. Set has a really good flow already.
Nice setup Ricky, good to see your rig comming together.
We need a 1hour DAWless live set from you on you!
I want, and I think a lot of other people here, want to watch you, how you are playing ♥
So good Ricky!
Amazing vibes to start the day for both of us 💯

Love it. Sweet sounds and your whole vibe. Everytime. 🙌

Love the "UNDERGROUND" 💪vibe.

Could you imagine a live set "Collab" between Richie Hawtin & Ricky, pure MADNESS😜👍
You are a great mixer on the fly! I want to train like this. Wish I could somewhere else than in an apartment building.
DAMN!!! Kind of an early christmas present! What a vibe more of that!!
Thanks Janis! Glad you enjoyed it
To be honest it’s nice to hear those little imperfections you talk about, if I was to hear them live I’d say to myself . Oh this is Live.
Thnx for sharing! Very inspiring! ❤️
This is how it looks like, when you know your equipment and got groove. 🔥🔈🌊🌊🌊
Dude. DUDE. Set's gonna rock. Nice 1.
This was very fun to watch and learn. Thanks and God bless! Happy new year to you and your family! 🙂🙏🏻❤
Love this - a healthy dose of insight and inspiration... You have great style... 👌
you got that genre down, great tracks
Yeah man, not only are your videos informative and entertaining, but you're dope af too. Thanks for the drop!
Novation "components" software made it super easy to change up the perameters on my LCXL, thanks for the tips, i have Cue send vol. and LFO mappings on my second page, watch out for value jumping!
I haven't got round to downloading the components but I need to update My Peak.
have a great holiday Ricky!
You too! Thank you
Pure sounds of House Music👍🏻👍🏼👍👍👍😃
Nice set. Didn’t realise how big the peak is till I see it next to the octa.
Super chill man , love the sound, proper old skool. 😎

Track 3 is groovy as hell! Very nice flip
gotta see this live!
Brilliant stuff!! So inspiring, man!! Hope you smash the live set and have a Merry Christmas !!
Tunes remind me of this old live pa from the 90s Stickmen. Used to rinse their records when I first started spinning.
these beats really got me man
What an experience this was.
this explanation is great
This is what we've all been waiting for bro.
The crow sample is sick!
hahah! im glad someone recognized it
Love this.
Great live set ! Especially loved the 3rt track ! Groove !!!
Amazing video
Loving it!! I wouldn't be able to keep track of so much gear tbh :D
You can see there are moments where I can't either hahah
