Add board and batten to any room, it's very simple to do! I also show you a budget friendly way to do it by using underlayment instead of regular pine board. I used a combination of TotalTech adhesive/sealant and a brad nailer to apply the molding and trim. The top horizontal trim in 3.5" wide and the vertical trim pieces are 2.5" wide. I spaced mine with a 9" gab between each vertical board. I also used a simple white latex paint in a satin sheen and a gray latex paint for the top in the color Light French Gray. TotalTech came in handy at the end where we used it as caulk for all the edges of trim, board and batten, marble vanity and even the ceiling trim.

Great job. Can you tell me the thickness of the underlayment sheets you purchased? Anyone, please help 🙏
Tip: put some masking tape on either side of the joints before applying the filler. This reduces the amount of speckle needed and less of a surface area to sand. Apply speckle filler, remove tape and rub flat before it's dry. Hope this helps..
Love this we want to do this in our two bathrooms. Thought it would cost to much. Thank you for the great saving idea.
Not at all! If you use 1x’s the price would definitely go way up. The underlayment saves you a ton!!
Ooh...I really like that wall! It's amazing what a difference the little details make. Beautiful, Shannon!!
it turned out awesome, country farm housey😁. So nice, u did a fantastic job with your husband, clean and fresh👍
Wow! What a great result! Thanks so much for sharing your process.
I LOVE the thin board! Going to do this myself 👏🏻 Great job!
Absolutely beautiful - I bet it surprises you guys every time you walk in there.
Wonderful job! Well taught! Plus it's doable for most of us.
All your hard work definitely paid off!! Gorgeous!
Thank you Paula!
You're so talented and handy...bathroom looks beautiful!
I’m totally doing this!! Definitely seems easy enough (as long as you’re careful and take your time) and super inexpensive, but looks incredible!
Shannon your bathroom turned out very beautiful 👍 TFS have a wonderful day
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing this.. I've been thinking about doing the same in my bathroom and now thanks to you I'll have a guide to do it and have it look gorgeous! Thanks again
Absolutely love the bathroom reno. My house was built the year I was born. Unfortunately neither of us have aged very well lol the main bathroom has been remodeled completely with new fixtures and flooring 2x in the last 20 years. We did a cosmetic upgrade about 10 years ago an it needs another face lift lol. I love the board and batten look. I had planned on beadboard paneling but you changed my mind!!
TFS
Jo
We were going to do a cosmetic type update in here too but the bathroom had other ideas for us 😆 The joy of old houses. Love that you and your home share a birthday! (Year)
@@TheDailyDIYer we both are turning 73 in Nov. So you can guess how many repairs are necessary for us both lol
Beautiful job Shannon and Brian.
Great job! What a difference exactly what I’m looking for in my dated bathroom. Thank you for such an easy to follow tutorial.
OmG love this! Our home is a Chicago bungalow 2 flat, 100 years old, so we are updating as well! Can't wait to show my hub your video! TFS!!! You did a beautiful job :)
Quick question since I'm using this exact process on our kitchen island: Is there a specific reason you chose to caulk the boards after you painted rather than before? I'd worry that the colors wouldn't quite match.
Looks absolutely beautiful. Love how it turned out.
Thank you!
@@TheDailyDIYer you're so very welcome.
This is just a gorgeous transformation! Beautiful work!!!
Thank you!
The bathroom is so gorgeous Shannon! I love the board and batten look. It reminds me so much of my great grandparents house. One of my distant cousins and his family live in that house. It's still standing and they hardly changed a thing physically. So both of the bathroom still have the old board and batten...I'm talking old! Even in Florida it has held up for years and years. Those bathrooms still have the old cast iron claw foot tubs too...hard to believe I know!
Very beautiful results, you two smart and talented youngsters! This timeless styling, and your color selections are excellent settings for decor that is casual, upscale, or blends of both. I think an old craftsman leaded glass piece hanging in front of the top half of your window with wide louvered shutters below, would be excellent.
Question on the underlayment board, does it warp with moisture, and how has it held up? This looks stunning.
Love the color light French Gray.
Love how it turned out!! And I love the colors you chose! Absolutely beautiful!!
Thank you so much for your diy's, i hope one day my bathroom looks like that, first god 🙌🏼 next year we are going to start building our home, and I'm going tu use a lot of your diy's. Again thank you. ❤️
Hi this looks so good. Thanks for the video. What thickness is the underlayment you used? Is it quarter inch?
Here for the answer as well!
Wow you make it look so easy
It looks absolutely stunning ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so so much!
It looks absolutely beautiful! I would love to do that! As always thank you for sharing! Stay safe, healthy and positive! GOD bless you and your family! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊
Looks very nice. 🛁🚽 Thanks for sharing
It came out gorgeous. You are so lucky your store cut it down. I bought hard board sheets (3) 4 x 8ft because I wanted to do faux ship lap. It would’ve only cost $25. The man at home depot wouldn’t cut it because he said he doesn’t cut smaller than 12 in and I wanted 6. Ggrr. I spent $20 more on a new sawblade. Now my project was $45 and we had to make the cuts. It would’ve been too much work so I ditched the plan and my husband gave me the 45 and kept the supplies for our camper. My new plan is to use the peel and stick wood look planks. I may paint them white.
Pretty bathroom!
Beautiful
Was totally amazed at this great job
Looks so much better then it did before hand. So does this complete all the updating or is there still more to go?? Can't see what you have for us come Monday. Thank you for your time & many talents. Both of you work so good together..

Do you wrap your 9” spacing around corners?
If I have textured walls what kind of board would I use to cover it in the area the boards are going?
I have textured walls, do you think I should cover that?
Love it you inspired me to do my half bath
What size boards did you use as the boards and the top one?

What color and brand is the WHITE paint? The whole thing is BEAUTIFUL 💕
Where did you get that vanity countertop and name of it please? Cost?
I know you said you just grabbed a white paint can off the shelf, but could you tell me what brand and store you bought it from?
So beautiful!
Love this! Looks Amazing 👏 😍
Great job now I’m going to try it 💕
What about waterproofing the wood?
Nice ❤😊
Beautiful ❤️
Looks great to me!
I love your bathroom makeover and i’ve been so inspired as I’m doing the same remodel!
Concerned with the use of “super glue” on the drywall? Isn’t it going to be stuck directly onto the drywall and destroy it when decide on another design?
I had the same thought....
@@paulaparsons9197 Well, depending on your stud placement, the strips might come loose if they are not secure on a stud. Since they did 9" separation that is the reason for the adhesive. Drywall can always be fixed. Not a big deal.
It looks gorgeous! We're in the process of doing our small bath now. You don't by chance have a link for that shower curtain do you? I love it!!
Love it
Lovely!
Thank you!
What is the tool he used to cut the wood?
I'd love to do this in our master bedroom behind our bed.
GORGEOUS!
Thank you 💖💖💖
I love it. Where did you find the hooks? I'm having a hard time finding ones I actually like and I love yours
I believe from Hobby Lobby
Very nice I love it
Your bathroom is beautiful...
Looks amazing! ❤️ it!!
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Thank you! ❤️
Beautiful!!!!
What if my walls have texture on them?
Awesome 😊
What the thickness? On wood
I believe ours was 1/8” thick
@@TheDailyDIYer thank you
What size are the vertical boards
2.5" wide.
Looks great! ❤️ 🚿 🛁 🚽
Easy
Where did you purchase the vanity? Also, why not paint the boards first? Seems like it would be easier even with having to spackle. Watching you roll the walls is way more satisfying than when I do it! #perfectionist
Right? I could watch the painting part over and over. Also, why is this so satisfying??
maybe a small trim along the top
Omg 😲 I love it 😀😍
So the material used to make the wall is called lumber?? I'm sorry I'm so new at this 😔 what size did you cut them 2" probably? Hope you can help thank you 😊
