Thanks for putting everything in the description. I immediately subscribed. I will not subscribe to anyone that doesn't, so thank you again. Looks fantastic
If you don't glue the joints, in time the joints will show. Even if you wood fill them, the wood will expand and contract with temperature changes and the seams will show. So glue them or better yet prebuild the whole unit with the Kreg pocket hole jig system screws.
You will find the sizes of all the boards on the description above. The board and batten sizes are all the same size (1x4). The bottom piece is larger (1x8) because we put the baseboard over it and we wanted it to still look like it was 1x4. The 1x3 board that I linked is for the top ledge that sticks out a bit. I did that so I could place small decorative objects on it such as picture frames. I hope this answers your question.
Hi Cathy! The batten boards are all 1x4. We only got one 1x3 which was used to make the little ledge on top. If you go to the blog post (link in description) you will find detailed information for this DIY board and batten accent wall. I hope this helps!
My husband is very handy but we still decided to hire out for the skim coating of the walls. I wrote a blog about our experience with it. You can check it out here: simplylovelyliving.com/skim-coat-101-what-you-need-to-know-before-skim-coating-your-walls/
We are looking into doing some batten walls in our house. Seems easy enough to do and we have all measurements for lengths and widths we would need. My one question would be what type of wood did you use? And lastly, was there a reason you didn’t use already primed boards? We are just trying to be as efficient as possible and it seems like you or your husband may have more insight to the right type of boards to use than we do!
We used pine wood boards. All of the product links are in the description. We wanted good quality boards that were straight and easy to work with. We didn't get primed boards because the quality just wasn't as good as the unfinished boards. I hope this answers your question!
When do you ever caulk after painting?

Thank you Donna! I try to be as thorough as possible! Good to have you here! 🙌
@SIMPLY LOVELY LIVING // and you do a great job of doing so. Hang in there. It takes time to build a channel, but you have what it takes.
@@Donna-vh5ym Thank you!
I would like to see how you meet up your baseboards. I have outside corners and am trying to figure out how to do the baseboards.
Super nice! Your husband did a wonderful job! 😜. We have plans on doing the same thing.
Thank you! How exciting! It's going to make such a difference. We love our Board and Batten entryway wall!
I love it going to do the same thing in my living room
Thank you! It makes such an impact! I know you will love it!

How far apart are the vertical pieces of wood?
I’m confused what size wood panels are horizontal vs vertical

Are all the batten boards the 1x3 boards or the 1x4 ones you listed?

I’m interested in skimming my walls. Is it difficult to do?

Hi, what size nails did you use
Hello. We are not sure if they were 1 1/4 inch or 1 1/2 inch nails. Either one should work though.
She said we. I only see him doing all the work.
Typical women
