One thing I just can't understand about the AXR.. I don't get it. it's Steinberg's top audio interface with the most DSP, yet it misses out on the guitar amp plugins which every other Steinberg DSP interface gets. Make it make sense. it means it can never be a complete solution, because one would have to bypass the DSP mixer and go through their DAW *anyway*, with much higher latency, when they need a guitar amp emulation. It's not like they had to be amazing.. Just the same simple ones included with the UR series are fine for monitoring, then the guitar can still be recorded dry and re-amped with plugin of choice in DAW.. but for monitoring they were essential. The DSP is there so I hope Steinberg realise this and simply maker the guitar amp plugins available to UR users in an update. I will get one if that happens, as then I have the entire spectrum of monitoring plugins covered by DSP,. which means I can set my DAW to 128 and forget about it and never worry about putting it lower.
Has this version fixed the problem of having to choose the unit as an output in your main stereo out? For users of Control Room this is a major hassle, as you are not supposed to choose anything there if you use CR....?
I believe Dom switched to UFX III, but I don't think he made a video about it maybe due to affiliations with Steinberg? axr4 converters are top notch and I'm sure he did not switch because of that.
I setup outputs 7+8 as cue mix output to a headphone amp in Control Room. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to route the reverb to these outputs. So my headphone amp does not have comfort reverb for my vocalists. Any ideas?
i have an axr4. how do i even record with the reverb? im recording my guitar and the revx sounds great but cubase doesnt record the reverb just records my guitar sound. please help! thanks!
The purpose of the Reverb is for monitoring with low latency. A simple work around for what you want is to create an fx channel in your session with the Rev X Reverb. Save you're tracking preset and load it on the fx channel plugin. Does that make sense?
There is still the supply chain issue, that’s why a lot of audio gear is in short supply. Not July Steinberg is affect, also companies like RME or others. On the Steinberg webpage they have both right now (for North America).
It's being discontinued. I had one of each, now just the AXR4U. Regret selling the AXR4T as I can't imagine they'll build a better interface but I didn't need so many channels.
Love your videos Dom, but this "update" is a massive disappointment. Half the stuff demonstrated was existing functionality? Still no guitar modelling amps? Still no ipad app to control the mixer? Still not possible to adjust the levels of the line outs from the front of the device? It seems mainly like a plug-in update, nothing to do with the device. To make matters worse, I've just gone to the download page, they don't seem to have released the V2 firmware which is presumably needed for the new tools? Also, the general installation guide is in german. The release notes for the firmware say CONFIDENTIAL on the top. Seems like as well as being dissapointing, the release is totally botched :(
For anyone thats wondering. Turns out there is no firmware download. If you install tools, it will prompt you to update the firmware when you launch dspMixFx. It's not obvious and this is a different process to previously
MixConsole - UR-C-2.0 ? What is that ? Where did that came from ?
The new GUI looks ugly and lazy.. I prefer the older style, especially on the Rev-X, Sweet morphing cchannel amd Yamaha guitar amp sims

There is only one missing feature in this wonderful interface. DANTE!!! With AXR5 just add DANTE please 🤭 (and don't take away any feature).
Why ain't they selling this anymore? Why don't they make a thunderbolt 3 or 4 interface card upgrade? Why can't you daisy chain more than 3 units?
why dont we have a remote ,like RME's ARC Controller, for steinberg 😢😢
iPad app.

It is fixed! Finally
AXR4 integration with Cubase is the only reason why I would ever consider choosing it over a UAD interface.
So many reasons. However I think they're being discontinued.
how to you compare the AXR4 AD/DA converter with UAD apollox16 and RME UFX III?
I believe Dom switched to UFX III, but I don't think he made a video about it maybe due to affiliations with Steinberg? axr4 converters are top notch and I'm sure he did not switch because of that.
This is such a fantastic unit. Why did it flop so bad? A bit too pricey perhaps?
Yeah I bet the cost. The licensing between Yamaha and Neve perhaps.

How do I listen to my pc audio (I.e. a UA-cam video or Spotify) through my AXR4U? I’m on windows 11. Please somebody help
Hi … can I use EQ for listening music or watch UA-cam on PC?
I would love to upgrade from UR44C to this incredible flagship!
They are discontinuing it but I love it :) much better with the updated plugin guis and integration that works with control room
@@ezrashantiwhy did they discontinue
Please tell us how to use Loopback, recording from PC into Cubase
Vielen Dank für das Tutorial! Empfehlen sie bei Mac AXR Thunderbolt or usb???

we need a updated version of the ur28m
Hi Dom do you think this unit could be used as a monitor system for Dolby Atoms to send sound to individual powered monitors. ?
Better options for that: Metric Halo, Merging, Focusrite Red, etc.
This should be possible, but you may need to use control room in Cubase/Nuendo.
Get the antelope one instead so you get the room correction and balance software included
These are all welcomed improvements.
Great video as always Dom! Did you manage to make Loopback work, recording the audio from PC into Cubase?
Why is the AXR4 not available anymore?when will it be available?
