    Just found this awesome, awesome video. Thanks so much for posting it. Been playing with Olives for 20 + years and did not know I'd been throwing half of my trees away after cutting them. Looks like another collecting trip on the way.

    Being a true native to utah this makes me so proud of my junipers. Nothing beats seeing them thriving in the wild. I would love to bring more of my heritage land back home with me in the city. I can't thank you enough that you keep inspiring to my best. But sadly our lifetime is just too short to really enjoy developing a tree for several thousand years, but how awesome would that be.

    Thank you for this incredible tour of Tom Vuong’s Bonsai yamadori garden. I have watched this three times and will probably watch it again, there is so much coming from this man. I think that he cannot entrust anyone else to care for these trees. He is the master yamadorist and knows the sensitivities of these trees from gathering to adaptation to a container. And you do good work documenting this incredible art. Continued success in this art. I will be watching.

    Hey Ben, very enjoyable tour - thanks to you and Tom.
    I didn't fully understand the upside-down technique. So you turn the whole tree and huge rootball upside down, cover with a plastic bag. How does its weight get supported? How do you water it? And what happens to the previous foliage when it's upside down and underneath?? Cheers

    • @BenBSeattle
      @BenBSeattle  2 роки тому +3

      yes the whole stump of the tree gets flipped upside down. The tap root becomes the new trunk where the branches grow from. He keeps it humid until new branches emerge from the tap root.

    What book did he learn from?

  • @joanp105
    @joanp105 2 роки тому

    When he finds a great shaped tree, does he just take it, or does he find the landowner and then purchase the tree before digging up? How does he know which tree can be dug without killing the small live root? Do these trees remain in the Ca. climate in order to remain alive once they are in the bonsai pots, even though they originally came from different parts of the country?

    • @BenBSeattle
      @BenBSeattle  2 роки тому +1

      He only digs on permissible private property. Most if not all junipers will acclimate to socal weather with time
