- David Easterbrook visits the vibrant Dan Robinson for a generous tour of his sanctuary Elandan Gardens located in Washington state. The 84 year-old war veteran is a pillar of the American bonsai movement. He shares with us his grandiose lifelong commitment to gnarly trees.
Dan is truly a national treasure and we are so fortunate to have him located here in the Pacific Northwest.
I've never seen Dan open up and actually enjoy the company of someone as much as with you David. Like two old friends reconnecting. Thank you for sharing.

The Story of the Korean red pine was wild😂 great video
What a great video 🙏
I almost missed this by casually scrolling because my millennial brain was conditioned to focus on flashy thumbnails...
Thank you both for this interview
That was really enjoyable.
Thanks for the video David
For those who were wondering, when he said he doesn’t fertilize the Yews, the lichen creates nitrates regularly when watered.
Love those trees on rocks. Thanks for sharing the video. Dan, a bonsai legend.
Excellent video, can't wait for more...
Wow amazing guy . With amazing trees . I’m fairly close to you . David so amazing environmental difference .
Dan's garden is so full of stories. I must have walked past that buttonwood deadwood a hundred times and always assumed it was juniper deadwood lol. There's always more to lean from Dan
I really love this man ☝⭐💫💥🇵🇭🇬🇧🙏atsuuup 👍
Beautiful trees! All look so naturalistic. I won’t take them from the wild though. Shame to remove them from the mountain.
2 freaking legend
Wow! If I ever came here I feel I would have died and went to Bonsai Heaven!
DAVID NOT LETTING THAT HAND GO
pake subtitle indonesia dong.. mau tahu banget bapak bapak bonsai luar negri
what is growing on those rocks around 8:12 mark?
I'm in north Alabama and I leave my tridents out during winter . I had no ideal they didn't like cold weather. Is that true?
roots are just more susceptible to damage from freezing temperatures than acers or other similar trees.
Was waiting for azalea , hope there’s part 2 ❤, btw coco peat is terrible, holds too much water & highly prone to infections
Miracle Gro?…I’m such a sucker! 🥴
❤😂😂🎉
Beautiful bonsai. I wish he wouldn’t cuss so much!
