    The Stryde Bike is an indoor exercise bike that comes with a 22 inch HD UNLOCKED/open-platform tablet that allows you to download and run any app of your choice. Unlike just about every other indoor cycling bike that comes with a tablet attached, you DO NOT need to subscribe to the Stryde app in order to use this bike and tablet with any app of your choice. In this Stryde bike review we first take a look at how to use Stryde with Peloton Digital App, and then look at the components of the bike, and then I explain how the drivetrain and resistance on the bike feels. Chapters are listed below.

    Bought this for my wife for Christmas. Honest assessment after 3 rides now... 1. It's not as aesthetically sleek as a peloton, but the build and ride quality are on par with peloton. The open tablet is the deal breaker in that you're not locked into any platform or ecosystem. 2 biggest gripes are that the handlebars don't seem to tighten 100% and the sound quality of the tablet is abysmal, which is easily solved by connecting to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones. We love the bike!

    I'm 6'5" like you but my inseam is 36". I contacted Stryde about fit and they told me max. height is 6'1", which I find hard to imagine. I'm really interested in this bike but I'm concern about fit and trust your opinion regarding this. Love your reviews because you are so detailed. Thank you!

    That is a fantastic video. I love your Peloton hack. Anyone wanting a Peloton bike can now get this instead and not be tied into the Peloton ecosystem. I have a Matrix bike and the Peloton app on my tv and I follow along with the workouts that way but I have to guess the resistance level. I also enjoy the Les Mills The Trip rides too. I'd hate to be tied into just the Peloton membership. I love your video, so useful 👍

    This is for all reviews in general... I have gone to Amazon reviews for many of the bikes you have reviewed and although the negative reviews (1-3 stars) are small by percentage, the reviews themselves are frighting. Most of these reflect usage over a period of time (within a year) where most of the positive reviews seem to be right out of the box. For example, the Sunny 1805 gets great reviews when first received but within a few months they seem to develop serious problems. Cranks, pedals, and bearings are mentioned often but also seats, adjustment knobs, and noise complaints are also prevalent. Customer service appears to be non-existent. This is common for many of the bikes under $1,000. Your reviews, which I enjoy and find informative, are for brand new bikes. It would be great if you could do follow up reviews on the more popular bikes that have been used for some time. For now I have put on hold my plans on buying a bike until I can find something with more positive long term reviews. Thanks.

      But then, I anecdotally believe the people who take the time to write reviews for those who had bikes for months are people who had negative experiences. It's hardly people who had bikes for months with positive experience would actually take the time to write positive reviews.

    I’ve been looking at this one for awhile, but there haven’t been many comprehensive reviews done on it yet. Happy to see yours!!
    Quick question. Do you have to pay for the Stryde membership to get the metrics? I have the peloton app... I don’t want to pay for a lot of extra monthly stuff if I don’t have to. I wasn’t clear about that one thing while watching this review. Thanks so much!

    • @terrybeasley8706
      @terrybeasley8706 3 роки тому +6

      You do not have to pay for their membership. I have this bike and use Peloton. I just use the Free Ride and don’t pay for Stryde. I think he mentioned this earlier in the review as well. I really like my bike, and I’m happy to not be paying $39/mo. I’m a healthcare worker and actually get Peloton for $9.99.

    The recent drop in price with the Peloton bike made it look more appealing, but being tied to that monthly cost was still hurdle. This bike, however, solves that issue completely. I’ve been using the peloton digital app for 4 months now and I love the classes (perfect for ADHD brains like mine) - this bike looks like my next upgrade for sure.

    I bought this bike and received it in April. I love it. I love being able to use Peloton and not spend $39/mo. I’m a healthcare worker and get Peloton for $9.99/mo. As someone mentioned, they removed scenic rides from the app, but you can do free scenic rides on UA-cam or another app. You do not get the leaderboard, BUT you can cast your phone to the tablet and start rides on your phone to see the leaderboard. I just don’t care about it enough to deal with that. This is a very good quality bike and a smooth ride. I have no regrets.

    Great review. I have a couple of questions.
    1. Can the myx app be installed on here (or can you login on the Internet to take the bodi classes)?
    2. Will this work with the myx (bodi) classes with the way they monitor the heart rate instead of resistance level?
    3. I saw you flip the monitor upside down when showing the Ethernet plug. Does the monitor screen invert (like a phone does when you turn it)? In other words(since the screen doesn't turn 360 degrees), can you flip it and have the screen show on upright position (if it automatically turns to upright when flipped like a phone does) and be able to do your workout on the opposite side of the bike? I hope this is making sense. Basically, I wanting to know if when you have the monitor flipped, are you able to stand on the side where you're able to view the monitor and watch workout videos that can be done on the floor.
    I really hope you answer these questions. Thank you!!!

    Earlier you did a video of another bIke and you were able to cast the cadence to the Peloton App. Will the Peloton App pick up the cadence from the Stryde? If not, could you add a Bluetooth cadence device that the Peloton App would pick up? Are there any other matrices other than heart that the Peloton app could pick up if available? Will any of these questions also be applicable to the ifit app?

    Does this bike have auto resistance? Like if I was doing an iFit scenic ride, will the bike receive the resistance from the program or do I have to guess and turn the resistance knob manually myself?

    • @DaneArcher2000
      @DaneArcher2000 2 роки тому

      The Stryde is manual adjustment only.
      I almost went with the NT S22i b/c I loved the idea of having incline, decline and automatic adjustments. It sounded like the closest thing to real riding and like a better workout. But some S22i reviewers mentioned when the bike needed parts, they had to wait weeks and sometimes a couple months for either the parts, the repair guy or both.
      I've dealt with ICON Fitness (the parent company of Proform and Nordic Track) with my previous Proform treadmill and it was a real pain. My treadmill kept overheating so I went through 3 motors. 2 motherboards and a small collection of other parts over 3 yrs., with my paying for many of the repair calls (as labor was only covered for a yr.).
      It got to the point I could make the repairs myself after watching the repair techs, so that saved $. But still, every repair meant weeks off the treadmill, setting me back fitness and weight-wise. Not good.
      So reliability is *very* important to me. As is a long warranty.
      I figure there is less to go wrong on a manual resistance adjustor than on a fancy electro-mechanical one. That's why I see a manual adjustor as a plus. Hope this helps.

    My only concern is that I'm 6'3" and 295 lbs currently. I'm worried that the seat might slip down since there's not a hole to lock seat height in place. There are problems like this with the Nordictrack S22i. One guy has a video showing him tightening it up and getting on and seat slips down...twice and he wasn't even a big guy. I hope the Stryde can really hold the weight, especially getting in and out of the saddle.

    • @toriallen8874
      @toriallen8874 2 роки тому +5

      I’m heavier myself and had the same issue with my Stryde at first. I specifically bought the stryde because it had a higher weight capacity than most other bikes. So I was a bit disappointed by the slipping. It took a bit of trial and error, but I found that by adjusting the bike about a half inch to an inch higher than my ideal height, it would settle perfectly into place at the height I wanted. It also helps to tighten the seat height using a towel. The handle is kind of tricky to fully tighten, but if you wrap the towel around the handle and pull it back kind of like a slingshot, it helps the seat stay in place better. It stinks to have to work the adjustments so much, but now that I’ve got them set, I haven’t had any problems with slippage and ride daily. Overall I love my Stryde and am glad I went with that over the Peloton. Good luck with your decision!

    It doesn’t appear you answer comments so I guess this is for others. How about reviews addressing bike output calibration. 100%, or 24, or 32, whatever the maximum resistance setting is, doesn’t have to equal the maximum resistance on another machine but….the output should indicate the same for equal effort. Supposedly, the resistance setting on Stryde is stronger than Peloton’s. According to others, 20 on Stryde is equivalent to 35 on Peloton. But…when I did an output check on my new Stryde, I got a output power reading of 98-100 at cadence 80 and resistance 15. This output is equal to a resistance of 37-38 on Peloton at 80 cadence-a difference in 22-23 for my specific bike. The Peloton figure should be about right for a properly calibrated bike soooooo, either the 15 difference I was told is wrong or my specific bike is off 50% or, both are wrong and a properly calibrated Stryde should read something else. Any thoughts? Will only power pedals tell the truth?

    The only real negative about that bike compared to the original Peloton is if you need to finance the Stryde bike. The company Stryde uses has interest rates that vary from 6%-29%; Peloton uses a company that in almost all cases provides 0% interest (I'm sure that's as a direct result of Peloton making a special deal with them).
    I love the idea of an open source bike like this, but it's quite disappointing who they use for financing.
