I just bought the PNY RTX3050 for $260 (a sale price) online. I have the Intel i5-12600K processor and 64Gb DDR4 memory. With the newly introduced Denoise feature in Adobe Lightroom the igpu struggled to denoise a 20Mp image; it would take 5 minutes. That is down to 15 seconds now with the RTX3050 installed. I'm happy with the performance.
I'm getting my 3060 ti in the mail in the next day or two, just upgraded from my gtx 1060 6gb, i5 7600k, MSI B250 gaming pro motherboard. Now I have an i5 11600k, ASUS Z590-P motherboard, and the RTX 3060 ti. Been waiting YEARS to upgrade, so I just pulled the trigger when priced dropped enough to fit my budget. Been stuck with this 1060 6gb playing at 1440p for too long, it's time I get a card that can handle this resolution properly.

@@NekoPria Zotac is awesome for Over-Clocking but is on the expensive side. The Gigabyte one with its Trio cooling system is also a great option which does come on amazon for a great price "sometimes".

Havent seen a 2060 super for sale in years now to any reasonable price. I did a look and I found them to be $600-900, but don´t there where in stock. An rtx 3050 is actually possible to buy, for under $400 here in Sweden, still way more than at relase. An rx6600 is about the same price as rtx 3050.
I was on the gt 1030 for 5 years, went to a zotac rtx 3050 oc for 250 dollars. I have a ryzen 5 1600 af 3.6GHz, yes its a bottleneck but not so bad as one would think. I have a 1080p 75hz monitor at it hits the refreshrate. Running all my games on 1080p ultra or using dsr to go to 1440p. It can do most games 1440p medium to ultra depending on the game and make use of dlss so games are very playable. I can play horizon zero dawn at 1080p ultra 55 fps avg, but with dlss I get 77fps on average. The pcie gen 3 x8 does limit certain games but I can fix that later when I have the money or a problem.
Man I'm finding 3050s damn near MSRP, but I'm hesitant to buy. It really does seem like the best bang for my buck at $269 w/ free shipping, but I can get a 3060 for $379. So I'm kinda stuck. I use a gigabyte 3050 and I do vrchat in vr with a htc vive. Valve index controllers and full body tracking. And it’s amazing. Absolutely destroyed my old msi gf65thin with a 1660ti.
FTI I did upgrade video cards. I found a 2060 6gig at a really good price. But I had to cancel it due to it was a fraud. I decided to get a 3050 8g due to it is a newer card. I also got a 3060 12g for my big box. So far to be truthful with my work flow. I can not see any really big difference than my old 950 2g and my 1650 4g cards. Maybe I will later as work flows change. Maybe I should have gotten a 3080 for the bigbox and put the 1650 in the smallbox? I do not think in the long run it will matter.
There’s not such thing as bad product but bad prices. If it’s priced competitively related to similar specs similar features cards it’s a worth buying. On paper it’s much better choice than RTX 2060. Even weaker few percent having 8gb vs 6gb it’s a big deal. Doesn’t matter you’re a gamer or content creator. You need 8gb vram in 2022. That’s my bare minimum nowadays for me if I look for a GPU purchase. Having lower power consumption helps it run cooler, makes a more appealing choice for restricted airflow cases or small cases. If you can have for similar price or even 50$ more get 3050. If not then buy whatever makes more financial sense for you.
6gb aint that bad, all you have to do is lower just a few settings. I have a rtx 2060 and I like it! For some people with very low budget, they consider 4gb being the bare minimum!

@@svetmisterije They are similar performance. Since you’re video editing to take RTX 3050 2gb vram more. If gaming it’s more important to you RTX 2060 it’s 10% stronger but it will limit you if you want high or ultra settings. So in my opinion get RTX 3050.

Not a gamer. My AMD FX 8120 starting out with a NVDIA GTX 730 I built around 2010 ran great especially after I upgraded tp a GTX 950 2g gen 3 GPU. I went to up grade it in late 2019 A complete rebuild. It seems like all hell broke loose. I had started getting into animation and needed a more powerful system. I do not see the strange hard times going away anytime soon. I did get her done the hard way but it seems tec changed 2 times with generational platforms before I could get her done. It is ready to change again. I can just hope I get 10 years out of my new pc.
Question: Im still running a RX 470 and want to upgrade, my gpu upgrade budget allows me to look at:1080, 2060 or 3050 which are all in the same price range here in SA but I kinda lost on which to get? Im running a Ryzen 1600af, 16g ram, of which someday Ill upgrade the cpu but is not needed now as I game at 1080p
At MicroCenter they have the 3050 for $380 and the 2060 for $400 from your chart the 2060 looks like the better deal unless the 3050 goes down in price. I think these to will be close as prices decrease. Also will the 12 GB of VRAM in the 3060 help in large projects I bought a 3060 for $470 new to replace my 1650 super. My thought was the going from 4GB to 12GB would allow me to do more complex work.

Question: if I’m primarily concerned with 4k h.264 (both 10-bit 422 and 8-bit 420) and 8k ProRes 422, and my budget is $500 USD, would it be better to buy a used RTX 2080 Super for $382 or a new RTX 3060 12GB for $440-470 USD? Are the AV1 capabilities on the RTX 3060 that the 2080 Super doesn’t have likely to become a big deal soon? Thanks again! Would love to see Topaz Video Enhance AI benchmarks in future comparisons since the differences are often pronounced between GPUs (and the free trial version works fine for benchmarking).
2080 super will absolutely outperform a 3060. 3060 is just below a 2070/2060 super for performance. But you best bet would be finding a 3060 TI for $500ish. The 3060 TI is on par with a 2080 super and occasionally more powerful depending on the game.

Still don't know how you utilise your IGPU... Pairing my IGPU from my 12700K with my 2060S, my IGPU shows zero usage in my performance task. Never spikes in usage for anything including rendering, encoding, scrolling through timeline, colour grading, stabilising, running a couple of FX nodes etc in Davinci. I bought the K version over the KF based on your recommendation and thus far couldn't see the use of it at all.
@@fuzzylogickben Thanks for the reply. I use Davinci Resolve. In my settings my GPU selection is set to Auto so in my mind it can choose between utilising my 2060S and/or IGPU. However when I take auto off to select a GPU, I can't select my Intel UHD Graphics 770. The system and program picks it up but won't let me select it.
after seeing those scores I'd rather choose Gtx 1660Ti over RTX 3050 if I can't get my hands on RTX 3060 or 3060Ti version to me the RTX 3050 it's like gtx 1650 where they dumped a lot of cuda cores and extra 4GB memory in RTX version
This is more a stop gap gamer card. If your card just died and you need something this is probably the card you get until you can get something better. The 3060 was already a bad buy, especially with the performance difference between a 3060 and 3060ti. If you can't find a used 2060, or a new 3060ti then pick up a 3050 until the 4000 series drops, but make sure you're on the pre-orders!

My question is "what are the limits of those cards?". I can patiently wait for a rendering and so on,that is no problem, but while working on 4k h265, what will each of those cards allow me to do?
@@mastroitek There isn't much difference at those cards other they can do almost anything but RTX 3050 just perform worse as an RTX card in everything it's just that the RTX 3050 is just worse value and performance for the money in my opinion. for example, an RTX 3060Ti version is almost 80% faster and way better than RTX 3050 imagine the 3060 alone. in my country, it only costs like $200 more for the RTX 3060TI for an extra 80% performance, and RTX 3060 and 3060Ti you get more performance and more value for the money than RTX 3050. if you are just editing videos in 4k and other content creations you are better off with the Gtx 1660ti GDDR6 version because that is 11% better and faster than RTX 3050 at rendering videos and other content creation the 3050 is just for people who want entry-level cards for pretty much gaming
@@Beyondry yeah I saw some comparisons. But isn't that strange? I mean the fact that a 3050 isn't faster than a 1660ti. In gaming is faster, it has better ram and has new encoders, and yet it isn't faster in Adobe and resolve, video editing confuses me. 😅 Btw, idealy I would also get a 3060ti, but here costs 1.9x a 3050 and 1.7x a 3060, considering that 95% of the time will be used for productivity it does not make much sense. In the end I think I will go for a used 1070 (170$). Worst case scenario I change it in 1y for a low range card
I take photos. I do not edit video at all. I would have to learn something completely new. When I was 30 it would be a challenge, but I am 60 now and just don't want to. I cannot find any channel that focuses on photo editing. There are some that focus on video editing, and throw in photo editing, but none that focus on photo editing first. If you know of any, let me know. Ben Kaiser can be pretty good, but he is mainly laptops. Like I said, I am 60. My eyes are not as good as when I was 30, and I prefer a 27" screen. I do not use Adobe programs. I use Luminar, and it doesn't use the graphics card at all. Intel graphics are just fine, old Intel graphics. Photoshop probably uses hardware acceleration the most of any photo editing software, and it has 97% of the market anyway. It does not use Ray Tracing or Tensor cores though. I understand any old graphics card will work. You might benchmark the difference between something like a GTX 970 and an RTX 3090 for photo editing.

For gaming, certainly. But notice that he's only benchmarking for content creation. Cuda cores can be critically important for certain workflows. It's why Nvidia can still justify their prices. If you are a PC gamer only, go AMD GPUs for price-to-performance. If you are a content creator only, honestly, consider apple M1. If you are something in between, that's where Nvidia comes in.

HP 1650Super open CL test 5:28 in video for reference, Anyway my 1650 Super scores 62,000 (60k+ no oc) This 3050 is 🗑 Unless you can get the $249-299 models,avoid it. I did all the research the 6600 is the best fps performance and the 2060 6gb is the best all around experience. Nice video
@@mj-7444 It depends on what you want to do tho, with 1080 the tdp is higher with older tech, still the best to get a more recent ones esp on the 16 and 20 series at least.( Since they are both released on the same generation.)
Its a GTX 1070 equivalent that cannot do raytracing and was released 6 years later for the same 350-450 price as the 1070. This is one of the worst cards ever made in history and is completely unredeemable. Any youtuber who sells this card to you is 100% guaranteed to be a Nvidia sponsored shill.

As of September 6th. Rtx 3060 ti is only 100$ more expensive than RTX 3050. (in Pakistan). So it's a no brainer I would go for rtx 3060 or add 200$ more and go for rtx 3060ti Right now 3050 is at a price point.. it should not be on.

Excellent review and makes me even happier with my find. I purchased a new RTX2060 Super for £295!!! At that price the value for money is definitely better with a similar price to a 3050 with performance closer to a 3060. I think the 2050S’s sometimes slower, sometimes faster, performance compared to the 3060 all depends on which programs likes/uses the extra memory bandwidth of the 2060S. Combined with the i7 12700K/MSI B660 Tomahawk DDR4/32GB is has made an incredibly cost effective system with plenty of connectivity (yes I know the B660 doesn’t support over clocking but when I went to buy a 12700 the K version was cheaper!!!). At a 4.7-4.8GHz all core frequency it’s such a blast to use.

What about the 2060 12 GB which has the same number of CUDA cores as the 2060 Super. I suspect it will be better value than the 3050.

How is the 3050 on the PCIE 3.0 for photoshop and premiere pro? Hoping you notice this.
At MicroCenter they have the 3050 for $380 and the 2060 for $400 from your chart the 2060 looks like the better deal unless the 3050 goes down in price. I think these to will be close as prices decrease. Also will the 12 GB of VRAM in the 3060 help in large projects I bought a 3060 for $470 new to replace my 1650 super. My thought was the going from 4GB to 12GB would allow me to do more complex work.

2080 super will absolutely outperform a 3060. 3060 is just below a 2070/2060 super for performance. But you best bet would be finding a 3060 TI for $500ish. The 3060 TI is on par with a 2080 super and occasionally more powerful depending on the game.
Please compare them with Quadro RTX A2000.

Still don't know how you utilise your IGPU... Pairing my IGPU from my 12700K with my 2060S, my IGPU shows zero usage in my performance task. Never spikes in usage for anything including rendering, encoding, scrolling through timeline, colour grading, stabilising, running a couple of FX nodes etc in Davinci. I bought the K version over the KF based on your recommendation and thus far couldn't see the use of it at all.
Which apps are you using? You usually have to enable them in the settings. E.g by default Resolve seems to choose one at random!
@@fuzzylogickben Thanks for the reply. I use Davinci Resolve. In my settings my GPU selection is set to Auto so in my mind it can choose between utilising my 2060S and/or IGPU. However when I take auto off to select a GPU, I can't select my Intel UHD Graphics 770. The system and program picks it up but won't let me select it.

This is more a stop gap gamer card. If your card just died and you need something this is probably the card you get until you can get something better. The 3060 was already a bad buy, especially with the performance difference between a 3060 and 3060ti. If you can't find a used 2060, or a new 3060ti then pick up a 3050 until the 4000 series drops, but make sure you're on the pre-orders!

My question is "what are the limits of those cards?". I can patiently wait for a rendering and so on,that is no problem, but while working on 4k h265, what will each of those cards allow me to do?
@@mastroitek There isn't much difference at those cards other they can do almost anything but RTX 3050 just perform worse as an RTX card in everything it's just that the RTX 3050 is just worse value and performance for the money in my opinion. for example, an RTX 3060Ti version is almost 80% faster and way better than RTX 3050 imagine the 3060 alone. in my country, it only costs like $200 more for the RTX 3060TI for an extra 80% performance, and RTX 3060 and 3060Ti you get more performance and more value for the money than RTX 3050. if you are just editing videos in 4k and other content creations you are better off with the Gtx 1660ti GDDR6 version because that is 11% better and faster than RTX 3050 at rendering videos and other content creation the 3050 is just for people who want entry-level cards for pretty much gaming
@@Beyondry yeah I saw some comparisons. But isn't that strange? I mean the fact that a 3050 isn't faster than a 1660ti. In gaming is faster, it has better ram and has new encoders, and yet it isn't faster in Adobe and resolve, video editing confuses me. 😅
Btw, idealy I would also get a 3060ti, but here costs 1.9x a 3050 and 1.7x a 3060, considering that 95% of the time will be used for productivity it does not make much sense.
In the end I think I will go for a used 1070 (170$). Worst case scenario I change it in 1y for a low range card
I take photos. I do not edit video at all. I would have to learn something completely new. When I was 30 it would be a challenge, but I am 60 now and just don't want to. I cannot find any channel that focuses on photo editing. There are some that focus on video editing, and throw in photo editing, but none that focus on photo editing first. If you know of any, let me know. Ben Kaiser can be pretty good, but he is mainly laptops. Like I said, I am 60. My eyes are not as good as when I was 30, and I prefer a 27" screen. I do not use Adobe programs. I use Luminar, and it doesn't use the graphics card at all. Intel graphics are just fine, old Intel graphics. Photoshop probably uses hardware acceleration the most of any photo editing software, and it has 97% of the market anyway. It does not use Ray Tracing or Tensor cores though. I understand any old graphics card will work. You might benchmark the difference between something like a GTX 970 and an RTX 3090 for photo editing.

That doesn't make sense if a 3050 is the same as 1660ti, and 1660ti is basically a 2060 without raytracing, then how is a 2060 much faster than 3050?

For gaming, certainly. But notice that he's only benchmarking for content creation. Cuda cores can be critically important for certain workflows. It's why Nvidia can still justify their prices. If you are a PC gamer only, go AMD GPUs for price-to-performance. If you are a content creator only, honestly, consider apple M1. If you are something in between, that's where Nvidia comes in.

As of September 6th. Rtx 3060 ti is only 100$ more expensive than RTX 3050. (in Pakistan). So it's a no brainer I would go for rtx 3060 or add 200$ more and go for rtx 3060ti

At that price the value for money is definitely better with a similar price to a 3050 with performance closer to a 3060.
I think the 2050S’s sometimes slower, sometimes faster, performance compared to the 3060 all depends on which programs likes/uses the extra memory bandwidth of the 2060S.
Combined with the i7 12700K/MSI B660 Tomahawk DDR4/32GB is has made an incredibly cost effective system with plenty of connectivity (yes I know the B660 doesn’t support over clocking but when I went to buy a 12700 the K version was cheaper!!!). At a 4.7-4.8GHz all core frequency it’s such a blast to use.
Sorry forgot to say mainly Lightroom/Photoshop with some Fusion 360, 3D resin printing, general office tasks and only occasional gaming.
