consciousness is nothing to do with compute power. people don't get that. I talk to a lot of ML/AI developers and they think human feelings are basically unimportant in the question of consciousness. they're deeply ignorant about that and anybody with even an elementary understanding of Dhamma as taught by Gotama Buddha and countless other being with a complete knowledge of Dhamma knows just how much they are missing out on. I spoke to one researcher working in this area and even her supervisor thinks it's a backwater topic. I predicted that AI would become a mainstream industry by now whenI read the first academic text book on it in ~1995 and had my mind blown about the potential of neutral nets etc etc. I'm here to say AI is nowhere near gaining any level of consciousness even approaching that of a worm… and as long as they ignore the more subtle aspects of human experience they'll be in the dark on these questions.
wait why is she a "thought leader" ? Is she an accomplished software engineer or UI researcher? Does she have a PhD in Computer Science? Has she worked on AI accelerator hardware?

(2016). "Eurozone dystopia: Groupthink and denial on a grand scale") and Warren Mosler ("my euro essay from 2001", 2010) . this is an ok presentation for people who know nothing about ML/AI wanting an overview of what the fuss has been about, but hardly "thought leadership" stuff (which by definition is neoliberal code for "corporate propaganda").
