- The amount a British resident must earn before being able to bring a partner to the UK may rise even higher than currently proposed, a Home Office minister has indicated.
Lord Sharpe of Epsom said the planned increase in the so-called minimum income requirement (MIR) by “early 2025”, would be “at least” £38,700.
Pressed on this in Parliament, the Tory frontbencher said he was unable to give any further information.
International border and security expert Henry Bolton joins Talk’s Ian Collins to discuss this further.

weak pathetic Government.
No - they're obeying Klaus Schwab's orders.
@user-jg2nq6ll4c So therefore, they're weak and pathetic.
The whole care sector is underpaid but instead of addressing this we just immigrate people and subsidise their living with public sector benefits. So the poor subsidise the private equity owner care sector!
These people do not know how to care for people, they are not carers
There undertrained and make the job harder for care home staff, agency staff are used for to much anyway training is fast tracked or none existent. It's not right.
They don't have the level of training or communication we need for the industry.
@@user-xu9ib9cd6d they need to have qualifications in maths and English before they start any training to be a proper care worker
Absolutely thet just want a visa. Ive worked 20 years in healthcare from support to manager. You need to have the right compassion and sense for role. The companies just need pay the staff better
Am sure your mum is in a care home. Hope U will leave your job and care for her at home.
It's not easy caring for old people at care homes. No appreciation. Some refuse to shower or eat. Spend a day at a care home as a volunteer and u will see. Good luck
If you are coming to the UK on a 1 year course...which is essentially 9 months study...there is absolutely no need for you to bring your dependents!?!?
I work in an office with like 30 people, 2 of them moved on to "go work in care" when they found out we don't sponsor visas in order to stay - we're an IT company.
Is that why there are so many of them in care. Some companies are only hiring them and not hiring brits. Older people feel more comfortable with their own culture and some have dementia. It’s cruel to them. 😢
@@lenorabarclay275 Sure but don't forget the greedy care home owners - who could be people from our own culture - who want to pay terrible wages to the care workers and then moan on the news that they won't be able to provide care without importing more and more workers. It is a ponzi scheme and some are getting rich from it while the rest of us wonder why everything is going to the dogs.
@@lenorabarclay275 The care companies are making lots of money off these migrants by charging them anything up to £20,000 for a care worker sponsorship..... The government has allowed this
Why would they hire Brits when they're making so much money off migrants
Yeah they get sponsored to stay here and after 5 years, they will apply for UK citizenship and then leave the care job. It's a back door way to becoming a resident @@lenorabarclay275
I don't want them looking after me.
God knows how they will treat us in our old age.🤬
It's already happening. This government is no less than evil.
Now they are allowing " babysitters". Would you let someone mind your child without vetting them?
There is a video of 4 blk 'careworkers' who were prosecuted for abusing an elderly white woman. The woman's family had a hidden camera recording them physically abusing her.
Your daughter will look after u .good luck
@@user-xu9ib9cd6d I don't have children 💔
Over 150,000 unfilled vacancies in the NHS.
Where are the British people to fill these vacancies
An Indian care worker said the level of medical skill they learn in Delhi is not at the same level expected here. However, her husband, children and others are now living here at our expense.
Why is Henry Bolton not our Immigration Minister, he knows his stuff
He talks sense.
I Would not Trust Any Lab. Or Con. With A Cardboard Box!
Uk PM and Government - weaker than watered down water, utter embarrassment.
There is no other conclusion than this is deliberate and they are following orders from elsewhere. It's too organised and slick. We are being replaced and these imports will be used to quell opposition. Deportations are practically non-existent. Those elected despise you and voting will change nothing.
I wouldn't leave my children with them, look at how they've treated our elderly.
Well you shouldn't leave your elderly in the hands of someone else. Can't be asked culture.
@@ldn876 I wish it was that simple, just look at the videos on UA-cam, they are allowed in the UK to do a job and paid to do a job, them carehomes are £1300 pound a week, so they should be able to trust they are looked after well.
The Brits are going to make it all legal very soon. I have no doubt about that.
Not the Britt's make it legal, sunak and his buddies will the Tories have nothing to lose by making it legal they already know there toast,
Time to discuss the matter of what's really going on. Try consulting the King, he knows alright.
He is useless.
I have nothing but utter contempt for Blair...I recall that the UK was a much better place to live before Blair opened the flood gates to eastern Europe back in 2004...Freedom of movement, has catastrophically impacted on many areas, such as the minimum wage, zero hour contracts, dentists, GP surgeries, the NHS in general, school catchments, housing, crime and not to mention many other aspects of the indigenous population's quality of life... Blair has a LOT to answer for!
Sunak has allowed more in, the Tories in general have allowed millions more in than Blair.
Tories have let more in than anyone.
@@Camille_Anderson I agree, Labour will be even worse if that is possible????? The electorate who bears common sense has nobody to realistically turn to, who will stop this!
It broke my heart seeing that baby being carried off the boat! Who in the hell would risk their baby on a small boat! It’s mind blowing!
Islamists... Women and children don't matter to them just disposable.
Sadly, that's the mindset of a lot of these cultures.. they'll just have another ...
You are too Generous 😢 75K of these Illegal people are resting @ 5* Hotels of our Tax money.
If people ( not immigrants ) come here to work it seems easy, enough to give the a temporary, in-work visa. When they leave the job they have to return to their own Country.
Why doesn’t the government have the RNLI ( they’ve taken it upon themselves for years to import illegals ) operate a free ferry service direct from France to Dublin ? The Irish were so sure of the EU they voted twice , they took great delight in delaying Brexit for 3 years demanding ‘no borders’ so I’m presuming Dublin is wanting to live the dream they’ve engineered for so long
Baby sitter? Who? Who would leave their kids with a "baby sitter" 🙈
The Indian fakir agreed to the visa scheme as a part of a trade deal with India. Wake up!
The first objective should always be cultural/heritage - then economic and how this may affect first objective
“We found no evidence of any significant abuse of the Graduate route. By abuse we mean deliberate non- compliance with immigration rules.” GOV UK
Like labour saying for 10 years we found no evidence there’s grooming gangs in the uk
And if the rules are compliant with that abuse?
It’s about exploiting the rules not breaking them.
Beware of double-speak!
In other words they have just gave in to them and don't bother processing them. Easy life for the staff.
It means the ngos found no evidence 🙄
Already upto 10 million peoples living here in this country from many years illegally and government bringing more migrants from outside wow thats amazing..
Because its all deliberate
I get very angry. How many young U.K. people want to be a nurse, want to help others, only to find they need to have to go through university to obtain their objectives. Many of these would and could learn on the job as many of us did “in the good old days”.
Why so much emphasis on university education? Bring back skills that can be taught by another skilled worker.
We are so short of carpenters, joiners, plumbers, electricians, farriers all the knowledge that used to be passed down from father to son.
Now, a piece of paper seems to more important than actual knowledge.
Limp wristed politicians.
Is there something im missing? If i choose to go to another countrys university i dont take my family? Since when.?
They just think anybody can look after our elderly
Where are the British carers? British people prefer benefits period
Bet u do not want care job. Too low paid and took proud. U all pack the elderly in homes and don't visit
This is absolutely true.
I worked for Blind Vegerans uk and before that Bupa. Ten years ago when I was a trainer for Bupa I noticed more and more Eastern European staff attending their induction training. Many of these were capable of speaking English and were hard woo. There were a minority whose language skills were very poor and would be a danger to the cared for residents.
After or during covid whilst working for Blind Veterans staff were diminished for whatet reasons and agency staff were used. Most of these carers were young African or Indian males in their twenties. They said they were here on visas to study. A few liked to say they were studying engineering. If this was the case some could not understand English and I would have to demonstrate constantly what to do , some came to work in pairs as one could translate to the other. Whilst working night shifts they would fall asleep all the time. A you g African man told me he spent all day on the bus as it was easier to sleep than in his accomodation. If they were studying I cannot see how they could do this and work 6 days a week. I am scared to think how the quality of care will be in the future in this country. A lot of British born people are being put off working in care becar of this.
I
No problem. If they can't come legally, they will arrive on a dinghie!
Yes nothing can stop 😂unless you build a Simpsons gate on the country
If the care sector paid a good wage then more UK people would work in it.
They dont want that. They want to keep the wages low
Agreed. Terrible conditions and low wage for a job of high physical and emotional work. The greedy care home owners are part of the problem too.
The UK third level education sector has been corrupt for many years. I worked in it in the mid 90s and the majority of the courses my college offered were completely useless, designed purely to make money, and not likely to lead to a sniff of a job.
Sonic the Hedgehog. One of the greatest and most attractive characters ever thought up. He can run at sound speed, take out enemies in a flash, and best of all, he's blue colored and knows how to handle the females. Speaking of females, the Sonic universe might also be classified as "Hot Chick Heaven" because there's such a mess of very beautiful and tough women that it will make you love the franchise even more! And since Valentine's Day is around the corner, I've been inspired to make a top 10 list of the most beautiful female Sonic characters. Grab yourself a snack and a glass of orange juice, and try not to reach through the screen because HERE WE GO!
I don’t see what Sonic has to do with the migrant issue we are having?
In my mums care home if it wasn’t for overseas workers I think you’ll find most care homes would have no staff. The ones I’ve came to know are amazing at their job make or female. At least they put in the work with smiles on their faces than someone who doesn’t want to be there. They all have manners too!
Thank you so much.
Lower the retirement age for women and they can babysit their grandchildren. I wonder how many settled immigrants will ask for a relative to come over on a babysitting visa ?
NO dependants of any description unless they can fully support them, including providing housing, and they are not entitled to a penny from the taxpayers, free use of the nhs etc
Why don't TV talk about low wages in care sector.?
Who will be looking after the elderly in care homes?
British people do not want these jobs period
Happening all the time London foreign student from Bangladesh India Pakistan
Yes they are abusing the system
stop them all
I know of a Bangladeshi who paid for a highly skilled visa . I know another who married a Polish girl to stay .
I am fed up
Bit too late! Sorry!
Baby sitters once in uk eventually will be on Benfits once ILR get granted
Every town !
Save your countries from outsiders illegal or legal migrants. May God save you and your countries. Wake up brothers.
Nobody ever mentions the number of Turks allowed into Britain.
Many in security sector.
What about foreign students who are trying to get marry British citizen and apply or for UK spouse visa before their student visa expire so that they can stay here and use this way as back door and cheat the system by taking advantage of lonely desperate women ,so what the government must do is change law and ban students from switching their visa to UK spouse visa and most importantly making laws for marrying British citizen from Foreigners particularly foreign students very hard to a level that would be almost impossible for them to apply.
Afrikan.
Pakistan
Indian
Out.
+ Turkish. 🇹🇷 Azarbajan. 👌
We need to get flight a week to Rawsnt & that's the only deterrent
Any new visa scheme will get abused
