I personally consider the Gateron Milky yellow Pro creamy but that’s my own personal thoughts on them. I feel Thocky and creamy is a very very thin line and its preference based
I currently use the Zoom98 full foam with the POM plate and factory lubed Gateron Oil Kings and I'd give a 7.5/10 for deep thock. This was my first attempt at building a keyboard and I wanted a super deep thock, I love the sound of new Akko Rosewood switch stock but they only sell in packs of 45 so I didn't get them. Do you have any tips on making the sound profile thockier?
@@wilsonjevin hmmm I don’t own a 98 though I wish Meletrix would send me one. I think in general adding more foam will make it more deep. The thing is we get higher pitched sounds as the case is metal and has a faster frequency bounce back meaning higher pitch. I would say the best would be do a thicker tape mod on the back of the PCB of course better to do directly on the pcb and add more foam. Maybe change the plate POM I found made it deeper
@@mikeytypes I bought new keycaps and brought the thock up to a 9/10 and complete changed the sound profile. I am happy with the sound and may do the tape mod but I’m too lazy to take the board apart.
I love deep thocky sounds too. What is your KB spec? Foam vs no Foam sound can vary by a lot. Have you found any lighter thocky swithces like under 40g? Typing all day on 50g + does hurt the finger tips with prolonged time. Love the sound of these switches nonetheless!
Foam helps a lot with more of a Thocky sound. Less foam and the keyboard having more space I find makes a higher pitched sound the best way to look at it is if you have an aluminum case the sound resonates inside the case and metal tends to have a faster vibration which leads to higher sound. The TTC Neptunes have a 50g bottom out but has lighter actuation which may help and they sound Thocky. The new Akko rosewood is also very nice more creamy but deep sounding
@@mikeytypes No wonder! So I do have aluminum case! It was too clacky for me so I bought the foam to put between PCB and aluminum plate, and another foam to put at the bottom of the case (below PCB). Now it sounds marbly, not quite thocky yet. So I ordered Krush65 Polycarbonate case with PC plate, hopefully will be thockier 😃.
BTW I have spring swithced V1s to Geon 22mm Triple stage 57.5gf. Gone the mushiness and dullness of the switch and came a more poppy&lively switch with the same deep thock. Hmmm, love it 😬
@@mattk9504 I don’t have the Venus but have the Neptune which are just lighter. I do enjoy them they do sound deep and are smooth, but I prefer the Vetex V1 over them in terms of over feel, but if you wanted RGB lighting the TTC would be better choice

@@mikeytypes would the Number 4 Switches also work as they are translucent? They sound a little better for my taste but they don’t have the cut out to let the light through
@@captainhevy3665 the Everglide would also work I would say you’re right where it doesn’t have a light diffuser there so it is more spread out but not as directed like the Durock ice king
@@mikeytypes thanks for the fast responses! So after checking the video again a few time I decided that the Durock Ice Kings will be my choice to upgrade my Keyboard. What else would I need to lube the switches?
I'm running the oil king's, and my keyboard body has really rattly stabilizers, and I am using inland ASA PBT double shot keycaps. what is the best keyboard body that i can replace mine with, and are there better keycaps to get the thockiness of the keyboard in the video?
My board is the Zoom75 which is really nice, but definitely a bit pricey. Another option is the Monsgeek M1 V3 which sounds really nice. If your stabs are rattly you could just replace the stabs. I use the Wuque Studio ones but I heard TX stabs are good. You could get those and replace. Add some foam or some sound dampeners to the bottom of your board and the oil kings could sound a lot more Thocky. For lubing stabs I would suggest lube the stems and the wire and then use a syringe after to put more into the stabs if it’s still rattling. Depends on the size of keyboard you want though, but most recently I have posted a very budget trimode TKL the MCHOSE GX87 they said it would start at $79 for the lite version

Hi! As someone who doesnt know much about this hobby yet, are Akko's switches overrated? The most well viewed videos have only akko's switches but im starting to think its a marketing strategy. I really want a creamy sounding keyboard. Can you recommend some to me? What are the best brands out there?
Hello! Not a problem, there is so many things out there that it’s definitely not easy to decide. The reason for Akko in terms of creamy sounding keyboard is because the Akko Cream Yellow is actually one of the best creamiest sounding ones for the price. Akko makes quite a lot of budget switches that are well built and even for myself the Akko Creamy Yellow’s are in my Top 5. I do plan to do a Top 5 creamy Switches and I would say the more well known ones are Akko, Gateron, KTT, Kalih, Wuque Studio, HMX, JWICK
@mikeytypes if you don't mind, what's your top 5 creamy switches? Also if I'm not mistaken the akko regular cream yellow switch was discontinuated and now there's only the pro version. By watching some videos it sounds more clacky than the regular one, so do you know one that is in the same price range (maybe another linear from akko?) and sounds similar to the regular version?
@@xXMissPandinhaXx I don’t have the whole list yet I’m still trying to decide on which are my top 5 but so far I have the Gateron milky pro yellow as one, wuque studio Morandi sounds good but people have issues with the stem wobble.

aw that's a shame to hear. The yuki is one of my favorite dongles ever. What made you buy the Project M? I didn't really liked it from the couple of times I've tried it out.
Durock Ice King would be a good one because it’s transparent, but all of them you do see light just it’ll depend on how much light gets through. The Gateron oil king/bubblegum not as much light goes through same goes for the vertex
@@actimix9 yeah the vertex is very blocked off, but mine very lightly comes through, which is why for like RGB support I wouldn’t go with either the vertex, oil king or bubble gum and stick with the Durock Ice King. They are bit heavier but very smooth and Thocky, but I’m not much of an rgb on my keyboard person unless it’s my gaming keyboard which I have different profile for different games so I use it to know what profile I’m using
So i also got the Oil Kings, and while i like them, they sound a bit like they would smack. I think its because of too much lube? At 4:42 you even can hear it in the video. Whys that? Since you added lube it cant be the lube?
Sorry, just to confirm you're saying that there is a smack sound because of too much lube? or are you asking where is there like a smack sound on the lubed versions even though it it lubed compared to stock version?
Sorry should have explained more into it like it feels tactile but very smooth, and I should have said what I was comparing my experience to which is like the Zealios V1 and the Epomaker Budgerigar which had a stronger tactile feel

Go to milktooth and filter by 3 pin and tactile, they have like 19 3 pin tactile switches you can look at.
Would you consider Gateron Milky Yellows lubed as thocky? does it have enough THOCC or nah?
I personally consider the Gateron Milky yellow Pro creamy but that’s my own personal thoughts on them. I feel Thocky and creamy is a very very thin line and its preference based
Vertex V1 is my most fav❤
Классное видео, очень информативно и хорошая картинка :) И звук очень хорош. Спасибо за видео. и привет и России ❤
@@wilsonjevin What keycaps did you get?
@@dansvensson5292 I bought the qtuo toffee bunny set
@@dansvensson5292 I got the Qtuo Toffee Bunny set
@@gabbychow4026 I find POM plate to be more Thocky sounding
what do you prefer durock king linear or tactile??
I haven’t tried the tactile , but I prefer linear switches over tactile ones
May I ask if those switches are linear or tactile?
Of course! These are all linear switches
@@mikeytypes Holy moly, that was a fast response :O Thank you!
@@tornaxo7274 not a problem at all!
BTW I have spring swithced V1s to Geon 22mm Triple stage 57.5gf. Gone the mushiness and dullness of the switch and came a more poppy&lively switch with the same deep thock. Hmmm, love it 😬
@@sysserdarr gonna have to try it out!
can i ask what keyboard you use in the video?
Of course! I use the Meletrix Zoom75. It's my main board I use for all videos except gaming videos
I only wish for a creamiest and a thockiest version of this for tactile switches
@@GunsComedy that’s completely fair I do wish I could try more tactile that was like this
how do these compare to the TTC Venus switches?
@@mattk9504 I don’t have the Venus but have the Neptune which are just lighter. I do enjoy them they do sound deep and are smooth, but I prefer the Vetex V1 over them in terms of over feel, but if you wanted RGB lighting the TTC would be better choice
vertex v1 good stock or need relube?
If you get the lubed stock many are saying it’s good I think hand lubing is just better
Is the number 2 Switch suitable for RGB keyboards?
@@captainhevy3665 yeah the Durock Ice King out of them all would be best! It will spread out which some say isn’t the best because the whole switch is transparent
@@captainhevy3665 I use Krytox 205g0. If you haven’t lubed switches before you’ll also need switch opener and a brush
I'm running the oil king's, and my keyboard body has really rattly stabilizers, and I am using inland ASA PBT double shot keycaps. what is the best keyboard body that i can replace mine with, and are there better keycaps to get the thockiness of the keyboard in the video?
Edit: I'm using a 75% keyboard from glorious, and my spacebar is really loud compared to the rest of the keyboard.
@@mikeytypes Thankyou so much! I don't want to intrude on your privacy but i would like to get in contact to fully get explanations and things recommended to make my dream keyboard. This is the Meletrix Zoom75
bought the vertex v1s and majority of my set ticks like theres no tomorrow, particularly when tapping the key on the bottom or left side. hard to ignore because the ticking is pingy and high pitched that it stands out from deeper low pitched thock that the switches make on my gmk67. I've tested these on 4 different keycaps and lubed pretty much every place on the switch and I just can't get rid of them. Might just replace them with the Haimu Midnights
Oh hmm I wonder why they are ticking with a high ping for you. You are using a GMK67 right now?

The Oil Kings I find are great, but I find them not as smooth
What are they all like for shine through, I've heard the Oil Kings are pretty poor for this.
Subbed btw 😄
Thanks for subbing! Oil kings are for sure poor for shine through. The Vertex also not the best for shine through but some light will come through.

Time to add the Akko Rosewoods. On a Monsgeek M1W V3 and TP stabs, they are deeper than all of these, stock.
You should check out my top 5 creamy video Akko rosewood are in there haha
@mikeytypes I'll definitely look it up, thank you so much for answering! If you ever post your top 5 please let me know
@@xXMissPandinhaXx hopefully I’ll be able to make the video in July, a little tough at the moment just because I got fully booked for keyboard reviews until mid July so hoping to be able to make it then!

I’m using a Meletrix Zoom75
my keyboard is 3 pin, what do you think the thockiest tactile 3 pin switch is?
So sorry, the only three pin switch’s I have are linear and I only have tried about 3-4 3 pin ones
On the typing test of vertex v1, is it lubed??
Yes, all switches lubed for full typing test
@@mikeytypes stock lubed or hand lubed?

What made you buy the Project M? I didn't really liked it from the couple of times I've tried it out.
@@troved590 I really enjoyed it actually specifically with the Aune Yuki. It’s got really good balance and it’s very accurate to the mix
but what about deepest long pole linear, loud and deep
For myself I’m not a fan of loud switches as much, but is there one you like?
Which thockiest support rgb?
Durock Ice King would be a good one because it’s transparent, but all of them you do see light just it’ll depend on how much light gets through. The Gateron oil king/bubblegum not as much light goes through same goes for the vertex
@@mikeytypes me currently use Vertex v1, the rgb not shining through my keycaps lololol but stock switches do shine through it
@@actimix9 yeah the vertex is very blocked off, but mine very lightly comes through, which is why for like RGB support I wouldn’t go with either the vertex, oil king or bubble gum and stick with the Durock Ice King. They are bit heavier but very smooth and Thocky, but I’m not much of an rgb on my keyboard person unless it’s my gaming keyboard which I have different profile for different games so I use it to know what profile I’m using
@@actimix9 but lately I have been wanting more clacky switches hahaha started to get bored of Thocky
If your boba U4Ts almost feel like a linear, then you've most definitely over-lubed it because it is meant to be very tactile
Sorry should have explained more into it like it feels tactile but very smooth, and I should have said what I was comparing my experience to which is like the Zealios V1 and the Epomaker Budgerigar which had a stronger tactile feel
i upgraded my vertex v1 with a 2 stage long spring and it feels more snappy!
What springs did you get
Try the feker matcha switches and compare it to vertex v1
Still using ks-3 yellows on the main board😅 other is u4t but want to buy v1 as well

what are those keycaps? they look great!
It’s the Drop skylight Keycaps and then I had some other Keycaps I recently got that I thought would be a good mix that came with a keyboard I got
Your #1 and #3 are basically the same sound signature.
The sound is very similar but the feel is quite different the Vertex V1 feels very smooth compared to the Gateron Blue Bubblegum
