  • For many years, I have dreamed about photographing Alpine wildlife during the brutal grip of winter. This January, I finally made it happen, and went on an eight-day long expedition in the company of Mateusz Piesiak (among others). In this episode, we continue to explore some of Switzerland’s amazing locations, to photograph two of the most iconic species of the Alps. We could not have been more lucky with the conditions, as we were granted thick falling snow in a magical winter wonderland. Come along to experience stunning, snow covered, rugged landscapes, and witness me creating some of my best winter wildlife images to date.
The species I photograph in this video are the Alpine ibex and the Alpine chamois.

Beautiful video ! You had a strong will to go there that day. And vlogging, putting the camera on a tripod, walking by, go back to take the camera...
Bouquetins & chamois in that area are a bit less afraid of humans, because they have no predator in the reserve. Of course they still have to survive through winter, so people are asked to stay on the paths. Hard to see under that snow 😉
Thanks for the video, it's always a pleasure to watch !

Thanks a lot! I was not aware of those restrictions, but for the most part (95% of the time), we stayed on the paths. I really appreciate your support!

@@TobiasGjerde Don't worry, it was only to explain why the animals are less afraid of humans in that area 🙂 if you go now, they are almost like cows in fields 😉

Tobias you are no doubt an adventurer.
My recent (no snow) visit to Savigny Switzerland to photograph red kites in mild temps just above freezing makes me feel like a wimp 🤨

Another awesome video. Stunning images and video of the ibex. It seemed that you managed to get close to the ibex in the earlier circumstance during the snowfall even though they were not used to humans. Well done! I very much enjoyed watching.
