Not many people seem to appreciate this feature until they need it, read about it, or look for a reason to use it. This is an unmatched genius feature of this scope, for those who need to characterize op-amps, oscillator circuits and other dynamic response systems. In the past it would take at least an hour to sit with plotting paper and plot it (this same RC circuit) using brute force time-domain measurements with an external frequency generator. the spoils :). Goob job Aaron.
i just discovered this gold of a channel and i can't believe all the amazing content in it. Although most of them are way above my knowlodge but i'll try to use them to increase mine incrementally. Thanks

Hey, is that an Hp 412A I see over your right shoulder? Great piece of gear! It has 6 RANGES below one volt! Crazy accurate too. I got mine for like $20 in need of repair, and after I fixed the chopper circuit it works like a charm and does tasks that even my Fluke 8842A cannot do. I measured a microAmp with it yesterday, but I do wish it had a BNC connection. Oh ya, your take on FRA was super, thanks.
For RF applications, 50 ohms is the usual system impedance. That is, the particular circuit block you're testing--for instance, a band-pass filter--"expects" to "see" 50 ohms at its input and output. In order to measure the response as it will be in the final system, you have to replicate the same impedance environment. An improperly-terminated filter will have a much different response than a properly-terminated one--generally in the form of ripple (sometimes deep) in the passband. When testing an active device such as a gain block, impedance mismatch could result in reflections that ruin what might otherwise be good IM characteristics. And so forth.

Hello everyone, I have a question, and I'm hoping someone can assist me with it. I need to conduct frequency response analysis on the stator winding of a three-phase induction motor. The challenge is that we don't have a frequency response analyzer (kit) available. As an alternative, I plan to use the DSOX1202G Oscilloscope. Could anyone provide guidance on how I can effectively use the oscilloscope for this purpose?
Can somebody provide a link for converting Z vs frequency data obtained from Agilent 4990A impedance meter into Nyquist plot (Z' vs Z''). In a single measurement i have also obtained phase Tz etc and other parameters.
That's right! You need to have the "G" model with the built-in waveform generator, though. The "A" models don't have a generator so it's not possible with them.
Don't worry, neither does my £350 scope! I think you can still do it with an external function generator as long as it has a trigger out. Nowhere near as easy or neat though, this is really quite cool.
i know audio and video is not synced up but any 13 year old can get it right and I hope that Keysight of all people can learn how to properly put together a video :) i also hope your oscilloscope skills are better than your video uploading skills :-D i guess i find out if i can ever afford one of your scopes :-P

It's not clear to me if scopes will have FRA apps that allow third party external function gens to do the signal input. Any thoughts?
I do think this will happen at some point, but right now there isn't an all-in-one solution that exists quite like the built-in scope apps.

Can it do a reactance( or impedance) vs frequency plotting?
No, not at this point.
Keysight Labs do you plan to includd it in future, it would a great feature and would help out a lot. Moreover ot can double as a lcr meter setup.
