- We visited Carsington Water Caravan and Motorhone Club Site on a beautiful sunny day. Today was the first time we used our bike rack for a leisurely stroll around the lake. It didn’t quite go as expected.

Hi Andy , interesting fact about Carsington is Planning for the reservoir started in the 1960s and construction started in 1979. In 1984, there was a partial collapse of the dam before it was filled. The dam was removed before the construction of a new dam began in 1989. The finished reservoir was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1992.

You two crack me up . 😆 Loved a bit of Roxette at the end , “must have been love” , perfectly timed as the camera pointed down to Claire’s pink joggers and crocs 🤣 thought the reservoir might have been the one we visited as kids but think it was Ladybower in 1978 when the villages were exposed. ( showing my age now 😬) More recently nearer to home saw Haweswater village reappear in a drought , which was deliberately flooded to produce water for Manchester and is totally gravity fed ( know you like your history and facts but you probably already know this ! ) By the way Andrew I always say to my other half , around 20 degrees is perfect, don’t have to wear a coat but not too hot so you have a sweaty arse all day 😂x

Carsington Water is lovely. Never been to the caravan site though. Looks a great one to cycle around even if you're not heard ringing that bell. I just shout 🤣🤣. Maybe the peeps in the Merc were subscribers🤣

One of the most interesting walks around a lake,that I've seen in a long time.Beer looked so inviteing, I once ran over a bike on the motorway,so yes always keep an eye on the Bike lol.very enjoyable❤

@@StchristopherofatlantisNot a great start today , left Glencoe to go to the Isle of Skye ended up in Mallaig at the ferry terminal despite wanting to go via the bridge, navigator going to get the sack ! I’ve tried to explain to her our separate roles not getting through, apparently it’s “our” fault.

@@Stchristopherofatlantis Skye , C&C club site ,Loch Greshornish, waiting for rain to ease to take the dogs out for a walk. Usually pick sites we can walk into a village or town but this site is a bit isolated.
Glencoe was a good site , there’s a Scottish National Trust visitors centre next door , nice cafe, dog friendly and some nice walks.
Morvich next then Loch Ness shores, hoping for a break in the weather (not raining).

Terrific vlog, one of your best! Carsington water brought back a lot of memories for us. We rented 1/2 pint cottage (great name?) in Belper many years ago. One outing was to CW where we rented bikes & cycled round. I was so impressed with the bike I rented that I bought it ( to cycle to & from work in the summer months, 6 miles each way) Then I realised how was I going to get it home? Ended up driving into Derby to Halfords to buy a bike rack for the car 😂 I've still got that bike even now. Also on our recent tour to Scotland we dragged a bike all the way up, around & then back home again & it never came off the bike rack? I bought it to cycle to Cove to visit the Arctic Convoy memorial but we drove the motorhome instead as we were too early for Inverewe gardens club site! Tim, Jane & Archie.

Another good one. I love getting out on my bike - always pleased it's still on the back when I get there. I really don't understand this getting a bit cross at the 1pm thing. It's a bit like being cross if you can't get into a cinema showing early; the time it starts is the time it starts. 🙂 Now you've spotted me and the boys I've sold the Merc.

Great vlog, love the black & white film bits. There is a lovely campsite @ Cannock Chase called Spring Paddock only 5 pitches but has a very good dog field , toilets& showers 16 amp. It is about 300yds into Chase some great walks a beautiful well kept German Cemetery, pub about a mile away.

Carsington is lovely, some years back, we did the full walk round, starting and stopping at the cafe. Which was a godsend.
