thank you Anthony for your support of our veterans. had no idea you were such a patriot
The album is actually called that cause Peggy's a veteran so your not wrong lol

Guys, no matter what the cool kids say, please don't join the jpeg mafia. I brought some png's to a meeting one time and ended up getting beaten almost to death with a crowbar. Scary stuff out there man...
He doesn't fuck with alt right or PNGs
are you talking about nft's
The comments on Fantano’s channel are always significantly better than any other creators
OMG SO FUNNY
Wow, what a .SVG
went from an 8 to a fucking classic holy shit it's been 5 years already.
Can't believe veteran came out 25 years ago time flies
@@jonatan_leandoer96 thaiboy gooon
@@jonatan_leandoer96 album aged 9 years since your comment. 34 years old and it still sounds like it came out tomorrow
I don’t think this video confirms it’s a classic.
@@RandomPerson-nx3rm the title literally says it's a masterpiece
The original "Thug Tears" is good, but the Colors Show "Thug Tears"????
Fucking phenomenal. A once in a lifetime event.
literally the thing that got me into jpegmafia despite having heard his music for months beforehand
Hell yeah, loved the feature from Peggy's chub, top 10 live features for sure
true
I prefer the original, feels much more peggy-ish, the autotune almost makes it feel sarcastic
agreed original better@@furcornmanwiththemasterpla8380
Never in my life has an album blown my mind more than this one. Got me on to Peggy and he's a top five artist for me nowadays. So off kilter and punk in its own way, I fucking love it
couldn’t have said it better. agreed wholeheartedly
Not even communist slow jams?
It's good alright, but as a punk i say there is nothing "punk" in it. Nothing.
Punk died around 1985..
@@juri_xiii9977 the lyrics
The opening line to the album is unforgettable. I mean with a beat like 1539 N. Calvert's how could you not? He could have rapped about anything and it will still stick to your mind because of how mesmerizing the beat is and the energy he brings to his flow in the verse.
I LIKE ALL MY BITCHES SAME COLOR AS DRAKE IF THEY NOT THEN THEY GETTIN BLOCKED
1539 N. Calvert is one of the funniest rap songs I’ve ever listened to. The opening bar, the Metal Gear Solid reference, and the shoutout to Myke C-Town all knock me out
great way to put it, i knew it was so memorable but couldnt figure out why but the flow, agressivity and amazing beat explain it
@@averyjoseph6855 ***I need all my bitches same color as Drake, If they not then they getting rocked***

This album, all my heroes are cornballs, and LP stay on repeat

the ghost pop tape, communist slow jams, and 2nd amendment as well
@@stevecink dreamcast summer songs and joechillworld! amazing aswell!
His entire discography through all names
nobody talking ab black ben carson in here like it isnt as amazing as it is
Peggy has almost infinite replay value for me in a way that few artists achieve. I keep revisiting his albums a lot and it's always a trip, so many killer tracks
out of curiosity who are some other artists you can listen to forever?
@@drymdryn bjork, radiohead, nujabes, charli, ye, DOOM, dean blunt, boards of canada, nick cave are some of the always on rotation
Peggy isn't just a guy who puts out good music he is a legit no-bullshit artist. His work is Real As Fuck.
Agreed, remember when he was like "trans rights? Abso-fuckin-lutely"

Can't believe it's been five years. Still feels so fresh. Idk if any album has given me more energy
Peggy is unique and doesn't surround himself with copycat artists like a lot of other ppl who blow up due to their uniqueness so his style isn't oversaturated
I’ve been saying this since the day it came out, it just feels like an album that over time still boggles my mind. So weird, so full of personality, so experimental but yet doesn’t sacrifice catchiness or replay value. Each song just hits you over the head and leaves before you have time to process what’s happened. Amazing record
It’s the peak of experimental
The balance of innovation while not disregarding catchiness and fun in experience without compromising artistic integrity
Veteran and many of Peggy’s projects have this remarkable magic
Cannot believe its been 5 years. I remember so vividly seeing Peggy and Injury Reserve on the ARENA TOUR for like $13. Just an insane thought considering how much Peggy has blown up as well as the passing of Groggs. Time flies by, cherish it.
I also saw them on that tour
Damn that must've been a sick show! Love both
These are the times I do wish I lived in the US instead of overseas in Europe
I mean I saw Peggy perform in 2022 and for about the same price, he charges nearly nothing for an fucking awesome experience!
@@adrianaarup2736 in my case I saw him at primavera sound chile last year, like 220 dollars but still worth every single penny
I really can't wait for the Danny brown Peggy Collab. It's easily my most anticipated album
YES!! Not everyone appreciates not only what this record brought to the hip hop table, but also how much of a front to back experience this is in his discography.
Not to be confused with ex military
JPEGMAFIA deserves a 10
LP! shoulda been a 10

Communist Slow Jams would be the album to receive it
Bro didn’t even mention Rainbow Six. That’s been my favorite jpeg song for awhile now.
Honestly my favorite album of all time. There isn’t anything that sounds like it, especially a song like Thug Tears is just un-replicated
It’s peak I agree
Communist Slow Jams
@@Gusi8898 yh i mean nothing in his discography can beat lee daniels freestyle. truly an album that aged impeccably.
@@theseoldhomes or Japan, Once they build a Starbucks it's ova, I used to be into dope, etc..
@traditionalbuttermilkjudas there is so much in his discog that can beat that song imo, CSJ has amazing concept/lyricism but lacked in its instrumental compared to his other albums.
Veteran and AMHAC are near perfect albums. AMHAC changed my life that album its so good.
Communist Slow Jams is the perfect Peggy album you've been missing from your life
@@Gusi8898 nah I'm not the biggest fan of CSJ, I'll never forgive hipsters is like a top tier Peggy song though that shit hits different
@@GamingOS Respect 👌🏼
Proud to see Anthony supporting our troops
this album and peggy has changed the way how I looked at music production and realised that I could have that whole diy creative approach to my beat making as well and make beats as raw abstract and abrasive like peggy did on Veteran
I have never gotten sick of listening to Veteran. It's an absolute masterpiece and deserves its flowers and will do for some time.
this album literally changed the way I listen to hip-hop. it's so experimental and angsty yet so down to earth. it can't get any better than that 🙏🏿
Communist Slow Jams is better
I'm so suprised he never mentioned Rainbow Six - the longest and the most interesting song on the project imo, easily the best.
Honestly not just of the 2010s,one of the best rap records of all time imo, a literal instant classic and im usually more reserved to call an album that without a lot of time passing
Ahem, Communist Slow Jams tho
@@Gusi8898 HOLY SHIT WE GET IT YOU LIKE COMMUNIST SLOW JAMS
@@uselessyellow8531 NAWWW, like is an understatement bruv.
Veteran is fantastic. I am so hyped for the Danny Brown JPEG collab
I actually just revisited this a day a go and it still goes hard as fuck ,I truly and honestly believe he's one of the GOATS and I too hope more people find out about him.
I never heard this album until today. Listened to it front to back 2X while riding my bike and at one point I was thinking my bike was making a terrible noise. But it was the song.
Whole Foods
this is the album that broe me out of my musical bubble and opened up my mind to enjoy music in a different and changing way and for that I love this album endlessly
This is still an album I go back to constantly. Easily in my Personal top 10 of all time. I feel like every time revisit it, I catch something new; which is a testament to it's staying power. I like all of JPEG's newer records too, and while they don't bang as hard as Veteran, they are all high quality projects and I am happy to have on my playlists. I always look forward to the next JPEG project and I can't wait to hear what he and Danny Brown cook up.
Still remember watching your review back when it came out and going to listen and being absolutely blown away, been a huge fan of peggy ever since
i no lie had this album come back into my rotation just this morning without any knowledge it was the 5 year anniversary. i also rewatched anthony’s review as well as dead end hip hop’s review, such a crazy coincidence this happened today wow
LP! , AMHACB , & Veteran All Have arguments to be 9s or above. 3 peat is hard to do in rap. Only Tyler and K-Dot have done it this decade.
Ngl kanye did to with mbdtf yeezus and tlop
And rocky might’ve too
Saturation??
Thank you for introducing me to this album at the time of its release, it feels like yesterday I listened to it for the first time
I love seeing this pop up in my timeline, this is easily one of my favourite albums hands down
I actually relistned to it yesterday, it's still my faviroute record by him. I just love how raw and aggresive it is
Can't believe its already been 5 years. That's insane, I feel like I just listened to this like a year ago
I just revisited and listen to this full album two days ago when I was doing dishes and that shits just as hard as the first time. A masterpiece.
Baby I’m bleeding was the song that turned me onto peggy, as well as puff daddy. This era of peggy even now feels so interval to the evolution. I never find it a burden going back to early peggy, and specifically this album. I love it dearly. Thank you for a unexpected veteran review.
I like how in track 14 of the album he made a song about future Bengals QB Joe Burrow before he went to the NFL. Truly inspirational 😤
Boy this was validating to see after having this album on repeat for the last 5 years
Thx for this review. Been absolutely loving your channel for the past month!
Myke C Town's hair still looks great so I can say this album has aged well in these 5 years
Saw Peggy last year. Definitely so glad to see he keeps "Baby I'm Bleeding" in the set!
top 5 album for me, was rly my introduction to experimental music generally and i've loved it since the second i heard it, absolute classic
saw peggy perform veteran at the PhilaMOCA a few months after the review came out and even after seeing him 2 more times since then it was probably the best concert ive ever been to.
When the review of veteran dropped it introduced me to what would become my favourite artist of all time, can't believe its been 5 years
personally, AMHAC is my favorite of his and one of my favorite of all time... but I don't think there's a bad track on either record. his production has just been getting better and better.
I'm so glad Anthony's so ecstatic about the musical evolution present in Veteran by Destroy Lonely ft. Ken Carson, indeed a fire track Melon!
I have never had so much fun listening to an album than veteran Love it so much
oh my god 3 albums
i'm going to cry tears of joy
I first listened to veteran after Peggy's feature on Flume's mixtape, and he been my favourite rapper / producer ever since
Veteran is easily one of the most daring, underrated and best pieces of work i've ever seen.
Actually that would be Communist Slow Jams
@@Gusi8898 I think AMHAC is his best album. I think veteran,AMHAC and LP! Are all better than communist slow jams. Although I still love communist slow jams.
@@LucinaMeow damn....i respect that. I do feel the messaging on CSL is much more poignant and provocative than on his other works but I can't hate
@@Gusi8898 I love the messaging of communist slow jams but I think the other albums have way cooler structures to their songs and has better instrumentation. But all 4 projects are awesome.
@@LucinaMeow I mean, I agree with that, and those other three albums are all goated, and yeah Peggy has only gotten better from a technical standpoint as he progress, but there is just something about the raw and honest messaging of CSJ that is so powerful but like I said, nothing but respect tho
Veteran and sling are the 2 albums that made me wanna work more harder on my music i hope I can thank Peggy and Clairo one day cause they helped me alot mentally and creatively
Landed in Peggy's 0.01% of listeners last year on Spotify. This album really is a masterpiece, and everything after is also nearly flawless
I landed in the 0.1%. 4200 minutes together.
I just heard this album today actually, I am loving Peggy's work so far
Listened to it fron to back for the first time lats week then went to all of his other albums jpeg brown will change my life
First Peg song I heard was Baby I'm bleeding, Cornballs came out and bumped it all day everyday for weeks while I was in Colombia, ended up seeing him and zelooperz live right before LP dropped. If ANYONE ever gets the chance to see him live please do, he bleeds this shit.
Does anyone remember when spotify had that Morrissey song unavailable for a long time. So glad its back
Nth Calvert was the first Peggy track I ever heard back in, shit, would have actually been 2018/9, and it was smooth as fuck, bob along to it, the rest of this absolutely feral album is 2 wild animals fighting to the death in a cage. Then I kept listening. AMHAC is a balm I put on my scratches bc when Free the Frail hits it's like a warm hug at the eye of a cyclone and I could sit in it forever. Saw him live in Sydney, drove 11 hours for the privilege. Peggy gave me these experiences. I'm so excited to see what he does next.
You know Anthony I was under the impression this was about the album Veteran and not you describing the Vietnam War in detail, my dad heard it in the other room and had an episode, not cool Fantano!
Saw Peggy in September, absolutely ruled, got an entire crowd singing the entirety of Call Me Maybe. Opener (Denzel Himself) was also sick
The Myke C town line is still the funniest shit
Anthony reminding me LP! released in 2021 and not 2022 has messed with my head
Wow this sound amazing, I'll check it out right now. Was wondering where to begin with jpeg, meant to get into him for ages
hell yeah, so lookin forward to this year for jpeg
bro mentioned every previous jpeg project other than EP! which i think song for song might be his best project
It's crazy because I just revisited this album a week ago (I was on a huge Peggy kick lol) obviously a classic so fantastic
love this album and its staying power. Panic Emoji is one of my faves
Ghost pop tape is turning 10 years old and it's definitely my favourite project peggy made
Can’t believe you didn’t talk about Rainbow Six in your track review. Happy though to see the album has grown EVEN MORE on you.
Fantano, we are waiting for the Sheena Ringo classic review
I was just thinking about this the other day, what makes an artist truly great is that you can't get what they're giving from anyone else. There is just nothing else that scratches that Jpegmafia itch
Really my fav Peggy's album and probably also one of my fav of the 2010's; just aged like fine wine
Peggy's confidence as a musician is truly next level. You can hear through his evolution since Veteren through LP that he's truly devoted himself to making his music better and better, Veteran probably is a masterpiece but on Cornballs and especially LP his music just gets so much more lush and detailed. I wouldnt even call much of his music industrial or noise, its fairly genreless because this man will sample literally anything
Peggy has said in interviews that he kind of expected to die an unknown artist so it's great to see someone so talented get the praise he deserves while he's still around to appreciate it. Veteran instantly became a favorite of mine when I first heard it, and I would say LP! is even better. I can't wait to see the rest of his career unfold, especially a collab with Danny Brown. That's a dream project for me.
I knew the album was gonna be fire when it opened with a Drake skin tone joke
if it wasnt for u melon, i wont even know about peggy. so thank you, veteran was weird ASF to me at to me at first. mind u i was 18, in high school in the middle of class. over time, i grew to love the aggressive off kilter production and his lyrics are so bold and telling, its awesome.
I really like revisiting albums, because albums definitely change with age for better and worse
baby im bleeding, rainbow six, and curb stomp are some of the craziest most creative beats ever made
Best recommendation I got from Fantano in 2018 while with the flu
As soon as I heard the Myke C Town reference on the first track I already knew this was going to be a classic album.
Last track curb stomp is one of my favourite songs ever
This album is lowkey one of the most influential albums of the decade, whether people realize it or not.
manthony melonthano, truly a music reviewer of all time
This album really is a fucking masterpiece dude
I listen to veteran constantly and many tracks grew on me, Germs to be specific
Veteran is a masterpiece as well as AMHACB. For my taste nearly everything Jpegmafia has released music wise has been good to great.
He's definitely my current favorite rapper, and it might be my favorite of all time. This is my opinion.
How has it been 5 fucking years since this album...
It's a STRONG 10. I listen to at least one song off of Veteran everyday. I 💜 PEGGY AND IM HYPED FOR THE DANNY & PEGGY COLLAB.
Id like to see you revisit with Freaky, you gave a pretty ~~ehhh~~ review, but now that ur more familiar with him in general if you'd " get" the album more or like it more, I REALLY like it
Fantano's the one who got me into Peggy. Thanks, Melon Head!
I think he topped it with LP!, but that just goes to show how great he is because Veteran rules.
Yeah only reason for this is that some of the coolest songs were very short and felt like they could’ve been more. The rawness makes up for it but I agree LP! Surpassed it
revisit this all the time
One of my favorite albums ever
I saw Peggy live a few months ago and he performed rainbow six, and MY GOD, I had completely forgotten how good the tail end on veteran is.
Praise to JPEG for his artistry
listened to this album a while ago and it didn't hit, after three listens through it from today I love this record
Veteran is either 9 or even a 10. Confirmed. Very based od you, melony
im so glad you reappraised Williamsburg i love that song so much
MELON, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Drop the cover album, you can't keep teasing us with those vocals 😭
