This is the first time ive ever seen any clip from Kinnears “Later” show. I remember Howard Stern back in the mid 90s saying who wants to watch that show to see Kinnear doing a Letterman impression... i see what he meant--so obvious hes trying to imitate Letterman!
As an Australian I’ve never understood American’s love for Letterman. I feel like he doesn’t really have a style to imitate. He’s so dull, even when he was young he was like a boring old man without much insight or anything interesting or funny to say. I just don’t get it.
I always thought Joe was just behaving as himself in his films. Then I saw With Honors, and realized this is the real Joe. He's actually a very studious actor, highly observant, attentive to details, and eloquent.
It’s crazy to know I was alive during this interview. A kid, around 7 years old, playing with my toys in a corner of a living room. In my pajamas. It’s 7:00pm and it’s a Friday night so I don’t have school. Briefly looking up and seeing my parents watching television and for a moment looking at the TV myself, seeing this random person my mom referred to as an actor named “Joe Pesci” and this other guy talking about things I know nothing about. “What’s a casino?” “What’s a cigar?” “What is goodfellas?” “He said something about kicking a dog. Why would he do that?” Then going back to playing with my toys. Times were much simpler. Glad I got to live through them.
Pesci's character was based on Tommy Desimone who was a much larger man in physical stature but Pesci's performance is so big it doesn't matter. There are times in Goodfellas when Pesci threatens to take over the movie and when you are working beside the likes of Robert Deniro that is truly saying something.
Outside of the amazingness that is Pesci, “The New VR” was my local TV station growing up. It turned into “A” Channel and then “CTV News Barrie”. I really only cared for it as a kid when Knight Rider used to come on at 10am on Sunday mornings though…

One of my favorite actors. Very versatile and hugely underrated
This guy was perfect in Home Alone too🤣😂
_My Cousin Vinny is my favorite comedy of all time and the reason why is because Joe Pesci made the movie the success it came to be through his exceptional talent._
I love Joe Pesci. He said he had to go to the hospital alone in a taxi when he was really sick and felt so alone with no one to drive him or be with him. My heart went out to him. I got you Joe, been there, done that.
wow, i've never heard any interviews of pesci but after seeing this, man he sounds like a very cool dude.
Thank you for this pearl
Joe Pesci, one of the best ever. Any film with him in it is going to be worth watching.
Patiently waiting for “The Irishman” to come out.
Do u mean kill the irishman?
@@ryanadkins7923 nope next scorcese pic
@@ryanadkins7923 That was a good film!
@@waynej2608 yeah it was.just watched it recently.its on netflix rite now.but I'll bet a million bucks scorsese's is going to s*** on that one
you were even more patient if you watched it all the way through in one sitting
in goodfellas pesci shot someone in the foot. he didn't need to bring his gun to this interview, kinnear shot himself in the foot just fine .
The guy he shot in the foot played Christopher in The Sopranos.
@@justvin7214 who shoots someone else in the foot
@@tillerman7272 Just like Joe Pesci killed Frank Vincent in Goodfellas and was killed BY Frank Vincent in Casino
@@justvin7214 alot of the actors were in goodfellas and casino, some of them were even in a bronx tale. The director Martin Scorsese put his mom in the movies too which was awesome. In casino she plays Artie Piscanos mom, and in goodfellas she plays Joe Pesci's mom after the kill Billy Bats
That's movie is a classic I love them all he is so good at the roles he played
Wow this was before Casino came out. Awesome. Joe Pesci is an amazing actor. I can only see him as a mobster, but he had other roles previously.
He says "You talkin' to me?"
That's Taxi Driver you bozo.
Yeah, Pesci wasn't even in that.
Kinnear knew that.
A friend of Pesci was in it.
I never realized he had a facelift to make him look younger in that role.
I know from a friend who met Pesci in NYC back in the late 90s that Pesci much prefers to smoke blunts. For real.
I miss seeing Pesci in movies so much!.. I hope he's ok and still enjoying life!.
"i was kicking my dog in the pool"
" BOOOOOOOOOO"
"Hey come on my dog liked the pool"
That was hilarious :D
And "I paid the dog" lmao
My dog loves the pool was amazing. No one in the comments caught how funny that was.
He didn’t really kick an actual doggy, did he?? :’(
@Keir Campbell 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣bless your soul
Only hilarious toward socio-paths who don’t like dogs. Proud of the crowd for speaking up. He never regained them after that
A genius of an actor who has never been sufficiently recognized.
I didn't know Greg Kinnear had a talk show. Pretty good. Joe Pesci is such a great actor. I can't wait for The Irishman.
Pesci's character was based on Tommy Desimone who was a much larger man in physical stature but Pesci's performance is so big it doesn't matter. There are times in Goodfellas when Pesci threatens to take over the movie and when you are working beside the likes of Robert Deniro that is truly saying something.
Joe’s one of my favorite tough guys & Casino is one of my favorite mob flicks.
This is cool, like how he starts talking about casino, I've been watching that alot lately.
"friend of mine" and "friend of ours" he really is one
Outside of the amazingness that is Pesci, “The New VR” was my local TV station growing up. It turned into “A” Channel and then “CTV News Barrie”. I really only cared for it as a kid when Knight Rider used to come on at 10am on Sunday mornings though…
Yeeeeee you ha legend love your movies
Greg never did get that part in Casino.
shoe shiner :P
He was Carmine. Fucking casuals
David Hall Carmine left though right?
Blanket!
That's because he had to go home and get his fucking shinebox.
2:23 This is AMAZING to hear with The Irishman coming out using de-aging CGI.
Talking about Casino one of the best films ever made alongside Goodfellas. Top actor, top films.
He's Great a wonderful actor ❤❤
