    I really appreciate your scaling down the recipe, I’m glad I was careful to write down the ingredients. I plan to double it, and start with 8 cups of dry Navy beans ❤

    I love how you organize yourself for you big canning recipes. I am totally exhausted after a day of canning. Watching you, shows me why. I should be doing half the work the day before, now I can be more organized, like you, and I can hold up to can again. I’m about to buy another Presto cooker so I can do two cookers at once. 90 min standing in front of a cooker is a lot, I might as well watch two cookers at once. Thanks for this recipe. I’m going to try it.

    Tessie, God moves in mysterious ways, my mother used to say that to me.I am disabled & slipped & lost my grip on the crockpot from my slower cooker it smashed.I was so upset.I later looked online at a free ads site & found an offer for a brand new “Power Pressure Cooker XL” for FREE amazingly I only had to go up the road from where I live to collect it.I just cried with joy when I found it has a program for canning/preserving! God is good & he has brought this amazing gift to me.Im so excited I have learnt how to can from you exceptional videos & now I have the means too.God Bless you & yours.Love from Lizzie.

      If you are adding smoked bacon, it will give you that hickory smoke flavor in the beans. When the bacon isn't smoked, then I too, add the liquid smoke. You are right, it does make a wonderful flavor in the beans.

    Woohoooo! I was soooo hoping that you had a baked beans recipe! Puerto Rico has every bean imaginable in stores...except baked beans, which I LOVE! For a while they had the Goya baked beans but they just disappeared. I occasionally find the Campbell's but they really lack in flavor and are kinda watery in my opinion. I have found that there is a big difference between "baked beans" and "pork and beans." You have outdone yourself, yet again, sweetie pie! Thank you and God bless!

    Tessie, I'm so excited! My beans are in the canner now. I have a ladle that holds 2/3 cup, so I used two scoops per jar and got 9-pint jars of beans. Your recipe sounds delicious, but I have a recipe for baked beans that has been passed down in my family, and I wanted my canned beans to taste the same, so I adjusted your ingredients just a bit. They're going to be SO good. It looks like I'm going to have to make another batch to have enough for the year. Thanks for making this video!

    What do you do when you get ready to eat your beans? Do you heat them in the oven or just heat them in a sauce pan? I have a Pork and Beans recipe that would work well with those beans. I have always mixed up beans for baked beans using pork and beans from the can with all the stuff that makes them baked beans, then lay pork chops on top of the beans and bake in the oven at 350* for about an hour. Those beans would be great, just dump them in a baking dish place pork chops on top and bake. I wouldn’t have to make the baked beans. It would be a easy dish for a winter supper. I’m so glad to find this recipe again. I have been looking for it.

    God does provide! We can't afford to buy a new high chair and I really want to find a good used one. We were driving down a road just this past weekend and we saw a garage sale sign and I don't normally stop but from watching how you've been a proven case that god provides if you ask.. I said what the heck I'll check it out.. Not only did I find a wonderful high chair but a lot of other things I've been wanting to find. Hi Tessie! Just wondering if you knew that all that sunlight is breaking down your food in your jars. if you took some tin foil ( if you cannot afford something different) and blocked those windows the food you worked so hard to put up will last so much longer. PS beans would be 90 mins in quarts as well, not just the bacon.Meat and dried beans have the same time =)

    I been waiting for this video ever since you mentioned it the other week. The last beans I made were very thick and dark. What canning time is it for pints and no bacon. Liz

    Oooo baked beans are wonderful. What do you serve with your baked beans? When we have baked beans we enjoy them with any type of BBQ on our grill. Did you have enough baked beans for that evening? Keep on keeping on Tessie

    Hi from Canada - I'm wondering if you've adjusted your recipe measurements since this was originally aired? I wanted a large batch, so did 14 cups of beans, and used your ingredient measurements. The math does not compute if you are multiplying by 8 from the smaller batch recipe. I'm doing pints, using 14 cups of soaked and pratially cooked navy beans. I got 30 pints, but had to make a second batch of the sauce. This time I put the beans in the jar, then filled with sauce. The first time I did them the way you demonstrate, the beans seemed really packed in the jar, and the sauce was pretty solid! But, putting some water in the jar to clean out all the good stuff thinned out the 'sludge'. There was 3/4 of a quart of sauce left over. I'll probably do some tweaking of my own, but for first time canners it might be a good idea to give them more accurate information - just a thought.

    Thank you!! I think u said you were going to quadruple your recipe which would be 4 qts x 4=16. But then you said you were multiplying it by 8 which is 32. Not sure how u ended with 28. But they sure look good and what a great job done!!! Enjoy your day. Can't wait to give it a try too!!

    Hi Tessie, I have only canned pickles and the recipe says to use canning salt. I see you are using regular table salt, so I just wondered about that. I’m learning so much from you. ❤️

    • @HomesteadTessie
      @HomesteadTessie  5 років тому +2

      I use regular salt , and never had issues . I find there is a lot of hype when it comes to how people do things .I just use what I have and I have great success !!
