For now its just props, so your job (as well as mine) is still kinda safe, depending how much problem solving your task requires. I do a lot of engineering (concept design) in my work and Ai cant do f all about that.
Can AI create high quality 3D printer models for any idea we can conceive? Or still very limited AI value at this point in time?

@@4orkast Concept designers are solving problems within a fictional asset that sometimes require engineering skills when hard surface elements not only need to look pleasing but also functional.

I'm considering using this when I start on making a game, depending on how efficient and performant it is. I'm very adverse to using AI-generated content, but as a sole developer with limited cash flow, using AI like this to generate props and less important assets would help me a lot and free up time for me to focus on creating character models and working on more important assets + the actual rest of the game.
With time you'll end up using AI for everything . Trust me. And you shouldn't feel bad about it at all.

The real question is: does it give a good roughness and UV map? Without it your 3D asset is kinda lame.

Tried it, its shit. It might be okay for very basic props that any half-decent modeler can create just as fast while retaining full control over topology, geometry and textures.

This seems useful but I can’t ever see myself actually using it from an ethical standpoint.

I can see this being useful for tedious and unimportant objects (depending on how effective its topology is, maybe stuff like crates and boxes). But important stuff like player characters and big environment pieces should always be relegated to modelers. I'd be fine with using this for a crate or a box, but not something like an archway or a named character.
@@hirolaBut if the tech improves to be able to make characters and other more complicated things it will. It’s not like companies will have some ethics policy where they say “we only use it for simple things like boxes.”
This is cool and helpful to people who need stuff on the fly but this is also potentially very harmful to 3d modelers and job destroyer so imma sit this one out

Welp 3d model pros are going to have a really tough time now at least financially. probably won’t be used in the highest tier games for a bit but I’m sure a lot of pros make money from small start up indie games and this tech would be perfect for those company’s and would allow them to save a lot of money and time.
As a 3D artist, I'm gonna have to change my career.
I am ignorant to the workflow so correct me if I'm wrong, but even with AI generated assets being not only possible but easily usable, isn't there still a need for someone to generate/curate the selection? It seems that there's still a need to have someone do the generating, and wouldn't it be better to have someone do it who has skill/talent/experience in the area?

A lot of juniors in comms, guys this thing won't replace any artist with the middle+ level of the skills.
Poly modeling is only about work by hand, this thing is good if you are indie studio with shit game, where you don't give a fuck about the props quality.
This AI will never do a quality car with any details level, because of it would be with the shit topology. Shit topology - shit shading.
Also with the guns, artists is artists. Any kind of of art including your soul inside it. The AI can do textures by the looking to another models. But AI will never redo the details, which peoples make by their hand with different custom brushes.
It is a lot of parts of CGI where AI can improve your workflow but can't replace you.

Seems great however i can see it having problems with things other than just a simple cylinder shape. Also on the surface it looks good..wait till you see the 10 million technical issues unreal will give you iver it. But overall seems pretty neat!

I mean the majority of of objects in a human environment are not specific, they are generic. I mean a beer can is pretty much a beer can. A tire is a tire. A door is a door. A window is a window. A lawn is a lawn.
