- At 4.5 miles long, the James River Bridge crosses upstream of Hampton Roads between Newport News and Isle of Wight County. The current bridge was completed in 1982, but its predecessor from 1928 was the world's longest over-water bridge when opened.
When the body of water you are crossing over seems more like part of the Chesapeake Bay than a river. At least that's how it felt when I drove it years ago.
I remember crossing this bridge several years ago when I went road tripping with my grandpa for spring break. I was just blown away by how long it was! If it wasn't so busy with traffic, they could probably hold a fun run or something on it.
Hi there! I am a car wash photographer that also records cool bridges like these. I have seen this video even about 8 years ago. Something in detail about this bridge: 1:39 to 1:50, that little tune the bridge played has never changed after all of this time!
Ive driven over this bridge my entire life
What a great video! I have only been on this bridge once, but it was a nice alternative to 664 or 64
Wouldn't wanna be on not one of these bridges in traffic
I have and it's not fun
Or a Bridge-Tunnel combination, like that of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.
The thing is that’d be more expensive to construct than this. And my apologies for this being 10 years later.
Love it but bridge is constantly jumping lol
I saw James River Bridge is lifting up from yesterday
Looked like a bridge with a watch tower on the top.
