I have purchased a v5 a few months ago with no prior low d experience. I do play quenacho, so had no problems with piper’s grip. To say that I was pleasantly shocked would be an understatement, this thing sounds fantastic, very expressive and it is hard to put down. Easily goes 2.5 octaves of gorgeous clean warm sound, takes very little air comparing to quenacho. Gives new life to camino de llamas:)
Your work is absolutely stunning Phil! The whistles you make are in my opinion the best looking and sounding whistles you can get. Have a wonderful rest of your day!
The V5 slips into the second much easier whereas you have to blow harder on the optima to go into the second resulting in loud high notes but it's completely down to the individual. For me it's the V5 all the way
If the sound is the only difference I think I will go with the V5. Is the air efficiency or quantity need the same on these two or does one require more than the other? Anyone can pipe in on this for I am ready to order. From all indications they require the same amount of air.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing, Phil!! God willing, you will be receiving an order for my V5 shortly!
I loved both Phil.
As I am new to the Low D, Santa got me a Kerry Optima 'this' year and I love it, thanks for making such beautiful whistles :-)

Just ordered my Optima low D last week but the V5 is on my Christmas wish list.
V5 ordered sounds wonderful 👍
Where did you order it from?
@@philhardywhistles Amazon 👍
Do you play here on tunable v5 chieftain or fixed low D?
Can you make video and show difference of Low D chieftain whistle tunable and the same custom?
thats a great difference, the V5
One thing I really concern about of the low D whistle is the finger hole spacing. My hands are quite small...
I have small hands and play with the pipers grip.see tutorial 1
Hi. What is the name of the tune? Beautiful.

It's one of mine called The Angelsea Air.
@@philhardywhistles That was really nice. Does the sheet music exist somewhere? I will be buying an optima D hopefully soon. Well done!!
@@j.ptomba2542 Sorry, no sheet music.
@@philhardywhistles no problem! cant wait to pull the trigger on an optima!
Hi I have a question do the low d chieftain come with case or bag
It comes in a telescoping translucent plastic case, similar to some other whistles.

Slightly more air needed for the Optima.
Could you put the score of this music, please?
Sorry, there is no score to this tune, try and learn it by ear.
