Believe it or not, the PC version is kind-of related to this port, in that if you were playing on a Tandy 1000, you were treated to a PSG-based soundtrack that doesn't sound too dissimilar to this, as that computer has a slightly beefed up version of the soundchip the SMS uses.
@@gameshack1985 Technically the Tandy "3 voice" system was "5 voice", because it also made use of the PC speaker and a channel for digitized sample playback, but if you could write music for the SMS's PSG chip, you'd be right at home.
Great game. I think the level design is more interesting than the first. I hadn't considered that it didn't have special stages. I never got all the chaos emeralds in this one either. Liked sonic 1 more because i owned that one. But thought 2 might be better though now you have me thinking

What an incredible game! Even today, whenever I walk into an arcade, the first game I seek out is any version of Outrun!

Absolutely, the Tandy 1000 had an amazing sound chip! I really miss that computer!
