Watching this on youtube is basically playing the game as the blonde.
Had great times with this game as a kid. Man i miss those times, life was so simple school, have fun, go to bed, ya couldnt beat that!
Lovely words. Best of times.
oh yehr... played it in 1986 or 1987 in spain arcade hall. Later got a Sega Master System. Finished it a few times. Life is better when your young =(
Home work too
Congratulations Sega! Out Run forever...
Brazil loves Sega!!!
Released in 1987. An arcade game that was released on home consoles. It was a racing game in which you didn't race against anyone but the clock and your own best time(s). It had multiple routes, diverse, changing scenery and... multiple endings. Very unique!
The music in these old games is surprisingly rich and catchy at the same time!!
that music when you enter ur name!!! I love it
Me too. I have tears in my eyes
yeaaaaaah beautiful... There are so many memories
I remember feeling so rad hitting sharp turns in that perfect groove n staying in the center of a lane. This music just reminds me of summer in the 80's. Wish I could go back. 💓
this game is wonderful ... these various scenarios, these iconic and perfect songs. It was a time when we did not need much to smile. Played very well, my friend!
"splash wave" was the best song in this game
I have never found an instance where I liked the FM sound better. Besides, this is the sound I remember when I played the game on my master system many years ago.
I was an outrun fanatic when I was young and desperately wanted a Master System just to play this, but here in the UK it was all Spectrums and Commodore 64s. When outrun came out on home computers, it was rubbish, this version is excellent for it's time, a very authentic home experience for back in the day, I'd have loved this at the time.
I’m from the UK. I had this on the Master System 2. Used to play this for hours as as a kid.
exactly, the same experience for me in germany: we all used home computers, not consoles. i bought the poor u.s. gold amstrad version in spring 1988... 😢 then I realised, that there is the sega master system with a much better version of out run. This game was reason for me to buy the sega master system (and I was almost alone with this decision, all the friends prefered the amiga) . And a few years later I was so happy with all those great games, think r-type, phantasy star, the dragons trap, psycho fox... the stage was set for mega drive (and of course, i bought out run, which was excellent).
This game looks pretty good on Master System.
Route A was straight up insane, I could never do it! Great game though!
This is honestly impressive for its time.
It took me thousands of attempts and 26 years to finish this game to the end. The frames were so trippy and those annoying green VW Beetles were impossible to avoid.

30 años.. Y sigo recordando esa canción.. Como si fuera ayer..!!
A mi papá QEPD le gustaba que lo jugará..
Master System Collection, 2005.
Melhor jogo da minha infância. A trilha sonora é inesquecível.
Outrun was my most favorite Master System is my first time seen Outrun that I watch Pat the nes punk master system review when I was 14 years old in December 2014
I use to adore this game....
Damn this is classic
The music ;)
I know write
Jogo fantástico para o seu tempo, joguei muito
I remember last year I played this game on my Master System (still working that's super awesome) and played it until I went through ALL the different zones.
Esse jogo é um dos mais legais do Master System!
*Yuji Naka helpt program this fantastic port!* 💡
Yep, bought this on Master System growing up, it was a pretty great effort all round to be fair!
Increible conversion es fantastica la master system te amo SEGA
Nostalgia 100%
Ah, one of the best games to ever hit the arcade.
Blast Processing was even on the 8-bit Master System
juste merveilleux. Et tout ça sur 8 bit avec une route pseudo 3D !!!
In response to the earlier post, both the US and JP versions of Outrun have both the FM and PSG sound on the cart. It's not something limited to the JP version. The chip needed for the FM is on the hardware side. Outrun JP sounds just like the US version on a Mark III without FM. US/EU carts have a different number of pins, but the FM can be played from US/EU carts on a JP system with adapter to play US carts or a modded US/EU system with FM added. Tototek made an adapter to play US/EU carts on JP Mark III/SMS, but last I checked, it's no longer available.
Amazing game. esse jogo é incrível.
"Although I'm credited as a designer on the original
arcade Out Run, Yu Suzuki was the director, of
course! You know, at that time, I think I did various
aspects of production and project management, but
I mostly left things up to Suzuki-san. So it's correct
actually to say Yu Suzuki was the one who deserves
credit. Did you know that at the time when
Suzuki-san was making Out Run, the two of us
were driving around Europe?
This was around 1986. At this time SEGA was
trying to make a car driving game. They thought
that The Cannonball Run movie was very popular,
so they decided maybe we should go to New York
and then drive a car all across America to the West
Coast. But the head of SEGA at that time was Hayao
Nakayama, and he said, 'America is too dangerous!
But Europe should be safe, so why don't you go to
Europe?' So we flew into Frankfurt and we just
got a car, and the only other arrangement was
to come back via Rome."
-- Yoji Ishii, producer (OutRun - Sega)
Loved this game on the SMS back in the day.
Bien fait
Le meilleur
Dear god check out 36:45 for the epic end of game synth arpeggio breakdown and mega feelz
Memories of when i was 15
That last curve (challenging one) on the first step I used to do without breaking or lowering the gear.
I remember rad racer.. but outrun was way more fun! Sms Outrun for life!
Some people, like myself, prefer the PSG (non-FM) sound.
I use to play this at K-Mart at the Electronics Section The cashier's would always let the kids play while they parents were shopping....
👍👍
THX for vid 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Passing breeze…goat
nice version.
Cool game. ;)
Parabéns
Jogo ele desde 1995 quando ganhei o meu primeiro Master System 3 Compact
Sega's Best Racing Game!👍
.....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm old
OutRun came first on the SEGA Master System. Rad Racer came second on the Nintendo Entertainment System. I always preferred OutRun over Rad Racer. Both those games involved driving the red Ferraris. OutRun had a stick shift. Rad Racer had a turbo boost. OutRun had multiple routes you could choose. Rad Racer didn't. At first, It felt weird to play OutRun on a Nintendo system, starting with the release of SEGA Arcade Gallery on the Game Boy Advance after SEGA ended console production. I also got 3D OutRun for the Nintendo 3DS and SEGA AGES OutRun for the Nintendo Switch.
A good version. The best 8 bit one and better than a lot of the 16 bits.
top
This is ridiculously nostalgic and addictive, even though it's one of the least impressive ports of Outrun.
😮 "least impressive ports"? Have you not seen the other 8-bit ports? This version wipes the floor with them (not counting pc engine) 😊
@@retrogamesrevived1189 But compared with 16-bit ports of the era.
@@althejazzman Amiga and ST ports were dire, granted they had more detail but they looked horrendous. Megadrive version is excellent though 👍
@@retrogamesrevived1189 That's probably what I'm judging it against then as I have both a Megadrive and Mastersystem.
Outrun
Outrun
Outrun
It's a really good version for an 8bit console (I'm not going to compare it to the PC Engine either) and for some weird reason?! I like this version over the Megadrive and I'm not sure why either?! Yes the 16 bit versions have some some quality of life colour rom hack improvement but now so does the 8bit version which has also gotten a colour upgrade as well. Back in 1989/90 I could never ever find Outrun or Outrun 3D (which slightly slower etc). So irritating when I was 10 back then but I love this version still.
I feel so spoilt coming from the mega drive version. I would have happily played this for hours too though, it looks like an excellent version of the game!
Looks much better than commodore amiga version.
Sega had the best 8-bit music.. and 16 for that matter
I like it I will subscribe how can you get so far👍❤️😝
The game that tries to best you by giving you a seizure.
🚘👏👏👏👍🙌
You can get this game on retro consoles I have it and play it regularly in 2022
Wow. I just watched the Game Gear version elsewhere and it's markedly inferior, despite running on nearly the same hardware. It's not just the smaller screen, either... stuff that's in this port, like switching radio stations, seems to be missing in the Game Gear game.
This port is great, but Devil's Canyon roadside decoration is now billboards instead of rocks, what's up with that?
Honestly it doesn’t look a lot different to the megadrive version, except for the music is definitely 8-bit!
The Muppet Christmas Carol 1992
Funny the sea level is higher than ground level but obviously they did that for esthetic purposes which worked great.
*Holland is the land lower than sea level!* 🙂
I recall this game being very difficult...was it?
Yes. It was.... but once you understood the levels, speeds and tight corners you knew how to pass it the next time.
Dont hit the gas at the beginning and the flag guy will yeal at you.
i have been here before...
that's from 21:00 to 22:33. but good longplay nonettheless
Please help me, I can't find a rom with this original music, there are only shitty "enhanced" versions
Turn off the FM sound settings in your emulator
The first game to use fm sound
dei final
This game made me epileptic
I used to think the blonde was my girlfriend as a kid and that I was so cool taking her on a cruise in my Ferrari 😂
My youngest
Even this is better of Amiga version, ah the shame :(
Lol, SEGA porting a SEGA game to a SEGA console. What did you expect? :P
Ah don't say that ! It's just easier . The Amiga version have better gfx and sound . These tracks are simply bleak and easy . The music is kinda clink of noises . In my opinion , even the C=64 version is better than this . It does better the Outrun feeling . : )
the Amiga port of Outrun isn’t Outrun, it’s another “thing”! :D
No way was the C64 version better than this don't you fanbois ever give up lol The C64 version is best forgotten the computer had been superceded a long time before this game was ported
@@illegalquantity - - Arguably the only thing the C64 did better was the music. The rest is garbage compared to the Master System port.
Graphically the Master System version had double the colours, had far more detail, better backgrounds, much better scaling, superior perspective and a considerably better frame rate. The only thing that the C64 port did that the Master System didn't was some very crude parallax.
On the game play front, the Master System version also had far better collision detection, multiple routes that were pretty decent facsimiles (albeit pared down) of the arcade stages and it generally played much nicer.
The Master System port was extremely good considering the hardware limitations. It was by far the best home port up until the PC Engine version in 1990.
ugh normally I love the splash wave tune but hearing the same note over and over again without it going through is really bad and gets on my nerves..
I have a question. if you play the european version of outrun on the pal sega system, will the sound speed run slower?
How the music loops on the last two stages is one of the most annoying things in a game I’ve seen or heard in a while. I would have thrown the cart out the window
Why use the non japan rom the japan rom has better sound.
lordmace2001 *You can play the FM sound version with the new Master system red adaptor on GENESIS today!* ⭐️
Aww come on magical sound shower is the worst music of this game, you could have chosen splash wave instead
No thanks...
Looks so bad ..prefer the MAME edition for PC
