+Steve Reynolds What's so bad about B.C. Rich? I'm tired of people hating on their guitars. Now if you want to make fun of something, make fun of a cheap Squier or a fake Chinese Gibson copy that are made to look like real Gibsons.
My ultimate metal rig? A ‘59 Les Paul Into 10 Metal Zones, daisy chained, with a Klon at the end for my lead boost, into the front end of a Dumble OD Special.
Joss is awesome. Glad Anderton's got him. I watch videos with him just to see what kind of outfits he can come up with. Dude has to still be asleep when he gets his clothes on in the morning.
MCrevolution yes but not just using Chapman guitars all the time. I know they design and build them but that doesn't mean they have to use them for everything. I really like Chapman guitars and am even looking at getting one I'd just like to see some verity seen as andertons is a guitar shop and all
TS9 wasn't doing it for me. Made it a bit fizzy. The Kraken sounds incredible, just need a better solo boost and you've got yourself and insane tone there!
It's a good option. I prefer the EQ cos this amp already have tons of compression. In my humble opinion, anything you put in front of this amp will add more compression. I prefer a more dynamic sound.
It sounds fizzy and not that great isolated. But really when you’re playing in a band with the bass and drums, having a tone that’s ever so slightly fizzy really helps your guitar stand out and be present in the mix. Listen to the isolated guitar tracks of any well-recorded album and you’ll find the same thing: the guitars tend to sound thin, a bit fizzy and maybe just not good. But they sound good with the other instruments.
Sounds awesome! I feel like this is the first Andertons video with a legit metal sound and not just a rocksound with some extra gain slapped on. I also never heard such crushing Riffs from Joss, good work mate!
Logan Ryan well thays what i thought, then I bought one and they are far more versatile that just djent. I think they work for most types of metal and the noise gate is superb.
Prs custom 22 piezo --> randall Satan 50 --> boss DD-3 (fx loop) --> boss RV-6 (fx loop) --> Marshall 1960 cab with vintage 30s and G12H30's in an x pattern
I can tell we have very similar tastes when it comes to gear! Something I like to do, as my little "secret sauce" is have a TC Mimiq somewhere in the chain so it spreads out the sound and makes the guitar sound a bit more full.
Jackson with Floyd. Mick Thomson Blackouts. Mesa dual rec with 4x12 straight recto cabinet. And if you need a boost, Seymour Duncan killing floor. I also like his delay pedal, the vapor trail
I could happily gig that rig as well. For me, it's a Schecter KM-7 or Banshee Passive 6 (both of which have the SD Nazgul/Sentient combo) into a Line 6 Helix with a Revv Generator amp in 4 cable method.
That's something I would gig for sure! I'm looking into the L6 HX to go with my Generator. Recently tried a KM-7, Imma have to get one. It was fricken awesome.
Strandberg Prog 7 w/ Tosin Abasi Fluences > Friedman wah > Precision Drive > Free the Tone Tri-Avatar chorus > PRS Archon or Mezzabarba MZero OD or Fortin Natas > Free the Tone Flight Time delay in the loop > Bogner Uberkab (V30/T75 mix)
Sounds great! My choice would be: - EVH 5150 Mark III 50 Watt - Mesa Cab (or orange - jim root sig.) - Ibanez Iron Label with Bare Knuckle Pickups - Hall of Fame Reverb - Boss DD7 Delay - Boss Noise Gate^^
My metal rig would be a Ibanez RG752AHM, Seymour Duncan 805, Seymour Duncan Alpha/Omega, TC Electronic Sentry, PRS Archon 100, MXR 10-Band EQ, Wampler Ego Compressor, Wampler Paisley Drive, Strymon TimeLine, and a Strymon Blue Sky, with a G2 for all my switching needs.
Sweet stuff. In terms of an instrument, I'd definitely have to go with a Jackson Rhoads or an ESP Arrow. That V-design just totally gets out of your way when trying to go for full out metal, and I'd go with mid-range focussed tonewoods. On the floor I'd probably just make sure a compressor pedal was also down there.
Rad! Joss, what would be your opinion regarding neck through guitars and the sound/tone/feel for the music, riffs and chug you do. What would be the key differences to set neck guitars
Seriously nothing wrong with that rig! The only thing I would change is change the TS9 with a Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive. I recently made that switch myself and I haven't even remotely thought about going back to the TS9. Awesome riffs mate! You should definitely make a project very soon. I would buy that.
Fender jaguar with the het set emgs, with a Floyd rose with a string gauge of 9-52 , going into a fender twin for cleans with a small clone every now and then, and for heavy tones a Mesa boogie dual rec with an isp decimator in front going into a 4x12 randall Diavlo cab with two mesa vintage 30s and two k100s. My dream rig
Andertons's Music: Joss, thank you for the demonstration on the category of Metal tonality appliances. I'm hoping to visit your Music Store when I return to the England. Cheers.
I know nothing about metal, but this rig sounds perfect to me. The two words you don't want to hear to describe your sound are "mosquito-like" and "flabby", and I think you've successfully dodged both adjectives.
The only thing I would've loved is having a guitar with a floating tremolo. Either something like an Ibanez Prestige/Iron Label RG or a Jackson Soloist SL2Q, may be a pain in the ass to set up at first but once done, you don't need to deal with it again. Otherwise the rig sounds great! Also would love an amplifier and pedals which can do epic cleans.
My ultimate metal rig would be: - A Mark IIc+ Head - A Marshall 1960a cabinet - A mxr 10 band eq -A noise gate of any kind - A old school Jackson V guitar with a seymor duncan jb/jazz set And this might be cheating, but another guitar ( a Ibanez JPM) and A rolland Jazz Chorus for some clean tones
I would choose what I run! Obviously. PRS Tremonti Signature Mesa Triple Rec with matching straight cab Franklin Pro Modded Boss SD-1 Keely compressor plus MXR carbon copy deluxe Crybaby wah. Oh and a TU-2 But that Kraken sounds sweet. Never tried one. Dunno if I've ever seen one in Canada. Also love the finish on that Jackson.
Sorry mate, no rig is complete without Miku.
You should make this a series and do multiple prices points.
Noisegate would be great.
absolutely, otherwise, feedback hell.
Ultimate blues Rig with pete
Please! That would be dope
Zippy yes, they need to make this happen along with a “Captain meets Danish Pete.”
Ultimate Blue Rig . . . with Chris Buck please !
Bc Rich Mockingbird. 4 metal zones and a mesa boogie mark 5........
Steve Reynolds line 6 spider*
+Steve Reynolds What's so bad about B.C. Rich? I'm tired of people hating on their guitars. Now if you want to make fun of something, make fun of a cheap Squier or a fake Chinese Gibson copy that are made to look like real Gibsons.
BC Rich actually changed things up a few years ago and they've gotten much better
I love BC Rich guitars one of the best necks/fretboards and a custom shop BC Rich Warlock or BC Rich Bich is on my list as a future metal guitar.
what is the dealio with BC Rich custom shop guitars being made in Mexico and charging US prices then? Rumor or fact?
My ultimate metal rig? A ‘59 Les Paul Into 10 Metal Zones, daisy chained, with a Klon at the end for my lead boost, into the front end of a Dumble OD Special.
Obvious troll is obvious...
A Line 6 Spyder alone sounds like this XD
Liam _ Third Perspective Troll? I was just trying to be funny and ironic, not trolling.
Just fucking with you but the whole metal zone jokes are a bit over done don't you think?
where is the line 6 spider?
I love Joss!
*cheers* Joss! Joss! Joss! Joss! Joss!
So do we....
Seriously, don't change a thing. Might be my favorite tone I've ever heard from you. [Not the djenty stuff-the 'regular' chords and "epic" lead.]
CentaurusRelax314 it's very similar to something Ihsahn might write!
Kraken sounds better without the TS9 for chugging. I'd only engage the TS for solos.
Exactly my thoughts as well
LTD EC1000 Duncan in Vintage Black
Maxon OD808
ISP Decimator
Dunlop Carbon Copy
MXR Phase 90
Marshall JVM 410H w/1960 cab
Kyle Gadbois ^^ THIS! (ESP Eclipse II JB/59 to tighten it up).
sound cool, definitely a gate is handy. with high output pickups you get allot of feedback.
18 big muffs and a fender twin.
Needs less mids, more gain, clean channel and cheap drive pedal. SLAYER!!!
Snip Snap Doggo but that would never be haired in a mix
SLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!
Snip Snap Doggo - all of the gain!! no mids!! \m/
ALLLL!!!! THE!!!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOO MIIIDDSSSSS
You rule Joss! More of these.
Joss is awesome. Glad Anderton's got him. I watch videos with him just to see what kind of outfits he can come up with. Dude has to still be asleep when he gets his clothes on in the morning.
wow.. reaching the 24th fret... on a 22 fret guitar.. Jackson did it again!!
This is a great idea for a series, you guys should do other genres like classic rock, blues, jazz etc.
MCrevolution yes but not just using Chapman guitars all the time. I know they design and build them but that doesn't mean they have to use them for everything. I really like Chapman guitars and am even looking at getting one I'd just like to see some verity seen as andertons is a guitar shop and all
That wasn't a Chapman it was a Jackson..
ultimate avant metal rig with Captain Lee
TS9 wasn't doing it for me. Made it a bit fizzy. The Kraken sounds incredible, just need a better solo boost and you've got yourself and insane tone there!
Agree! Maybe an EQ in the effects loop to boost volume and round a little more the highs.
I personally use the Xotic Effects EP booster for solos but yeah, EQ pedals work a treat too!

That guitar was in tune. What's going on...
I thought this was the Anderton's channel?
CortMarshal Lmao
Got em!
CortMarshal
DAMN!!!!...but so true.
That’d be because Joss is playing and not Chapman.
It's because it's not a Les Paul
1:52 Kerry King uses KT88's in his Marshalls ;)
I played one of these jackson's yesterday and they are way better than I expected and I had high expectations already. Definitely my next purchase.
Sounds awesome! It's great to hear Joss bring new riffs to the Andertons channel! :)
Sounds awesome!
I feel like this is the first Andertons video with a legit metal sound and not just a rocksound with some extra gain slapped on.
I also never heard such crushing Riffs from Joss, good work mate!
Need a precision drive instead of the TS9
daxster25 i agree!
hell nah, precision drive is meant for tight djenty downtuned stuff, ts9 is dirtier and better for all around metal
Logan Ryan well thays what i thought, then I bought one and they are far more versatile that just djent. I think they work for most types of metal and the noise gate is superb.
the precision drive would have also give the kit the noise gate it needed
loving the dissonant vibes in your track!!! joss for the win!!!
Maaan, sounds so GREAT. Simple and beautiful.
Easily Joss's best Anderton's video yet. Very cool
Joss is growing on me more and more. His first few videos were disappointing but he's getting better and better. More of him!
The set up sounds great man!
Gibson Les Paul Custom loaded with Bareknuckle Pickups, Diezel VH4, Fortin Grind, Diezel Front Loaded 4X12 V30 Cab, Kirk Hammet Wah, Neunaber Immerse, Fortin Zuul Noise Gate, MXR Carbon Copy
Much preferred the tone without the TS9, sweet guitar and playing.
Ultimate Metal rig *without* a Metal Zone?? Pffffft....newb!
I know! You'd be laughed off every stage without one :)
LMAO exactly! The real pros have a board full of 'em!
Nice work ...well worth the effort for the demo. Not my thing but still appreciated what went into and indeed came out of the time spent. Encore.
Love the song Joss and great setup!
My Monarkh is in the exact same colour, plus I changed the elctronics installing a Killswitch where the tone knob is. Amazing.
Awesome I’m happy you chose that Guitar!
I do like that Jackson. The Victory sounds great. Thank You
Jackson with Floyd.
I would have picked an Ibanez RG iron label with EMGs and a floyd so you can do some cool soloing too.
Yeeeeeeaaaaaaahhh!!!
You definitly must do a Metal Series (or not only metal) in this Andertons channel man!
Love to see you playing!
I'd use a prs MT15 personally but you sound great regardless
Strandberg Prog 7 w/ Tosin Abasi Fluences > Friedman wah > Precision Drive > Free the Tone Tri-Avatar chorus > PRS Archon or Mezzabarba MZero OD or Fortin Natas > Free the Tone Flight Time delay in the loop > Bogner Uberkab (V30/T75 mix)
Love that tone!
I like this guy. He's chilled
Joss finally playing seriously. Thumbs up!
Diezel VH4, Les Paul Custom Silverburst....you know where I'm going with this..hehe
Make that two VH4s and and an old Marshall Plexi, then you got the best metal sound of all time.
Robert Cuff Amen
Was coming here to say the same actually
Adam Jones!
Yessssssssss
Sick tune! Bravo Joss, excellent choices btw!
You can tell who you are hanging with for sure. Lots of Dorje and Tosca influences there. Excellent demo of my guitar. Cheers!!!
I prefer the sound without the TS9 ! :)
God damn, Joss the Boss! Spot on with the rig and that track slayed!!!
Got a real Sylosis vibe from that riff, loved it!
Get this guy a medal for doing an "in the mix".
Literally waiting for this ✊🏻😎👌🏻🇳🇵 Love from Nepal 😎👌🏻 🇳🇵
make this a series with different gear each time! Joss is a beast!
Great demo song at the end.
I'm totally getting a Carcass Heartwork tone vibe from the mix at the end. Nice work.
Loved this! VERY Cool!
That Jackson looks so sick
definitely need more of these videos!... u certainly rock brother!....
Liked for the song at the end!
Gibson LP HP standard (need that axcess heel joint) -> Horizon Devices Precision Drive -> Mesa Boogie Mark V -> Line6 Helix -> (fx return) -> 212 ported cabinet.
I wasn't super convinced by the interest of this video...but the track was dark and mean and brilliant. Great one!
my regular metal rig has the Ibanez RGA220z through the Helix w/fav. amp models being Rectifier and 5150 with various drive pedals in front.
This rig sounds really nice. This is of the best metal guitar sound.
Sounds great!
My choice would be:
- EVH 5150 Mark III 50 Watt
- Mesa Cab (or orange - jim root sig.)
- Ibanez Iron Label with Bare Knuckle Pickups
- Hall of Fame Reverb
- Boss DD7 Delay
- Boss Noise Gate^^
Amazing playing man I really wasn’t expecting those pulverizing riffs from you 🤘🤘
That guitar finish....wowza
Jackson's new stuff is super fucking awesome imho
It's have superb sound !!! Great job !)
I questioned the Jackson till I heard it in the mix!! Great playing.
Great video! What tuning are you in?? I forgot it wasn't a 7 string once you started playing the djenty riffs. Super heavy sound.
Great video Joss! Really,
Your choice is fantastic
Sweet stuff. In terms of an instrument, I'd definitely have to go with a Jackson Rhoads or an ESP Arrow. Rad! Joss, what would be your opinion regarding neck through guitars and the sound/tone/feel for the music, riffs and chug you do. What would be the key differences to set neck guitars
Yo please make a full video with rabea! Would love to see both you select rigs and jam
Sounds great to me man I think it could also be quite a versatile rig great job!!
Probably the best metal tone I’ve heard on here so far.
And now a Video for metal bass guitar rig🤘
Sounds great!
Cooked ash govan signature->axe fx II XL+ (effects)-> Diezel VH-4-> bogner überschall cab.
SM57 and E609
Would be interesting to see this become a series
I really like this video. Thanks.
That was mint Joss mate. Mint I tells ya!
Andertons's Music: Joss, thank you for the demonstration on the category of Metal tonality appliances. I'm hoping to visit your Music Store when I return to the England. Cheers.
I know nothing about metal, but this rig sounds perfect to me. The two words you don't want to hear to describe your sound are "mosquito-like" and "flabby", and I think you've successfully dodged both adjectives.
a little Meshuggah here, a little Gojira there, a little Mastodon here and there!!! lovely!

My ultimate metal rig would be:
- A Mark IIc+ Head
- A Marshall 1960a cabinet
- A mxr 10 band eq
-A noise gate of any kind
- A old school Jackson V guitar with a seymor duncan jb/jazz set
And this might be cheating, but another guitar ( a Ibanez JPM) and A rolland Jazz Chorus for some clean tones
Do I spy a Ibanez rg 770dx in Lazer blue directly behind him? Love that guitar
Rickenbacker 360 12-string, Fender Tweed Deluxe. Have I got this question right?
One more thing. More Joss videos please.
That guitar is looking brutal chap!
I would choose what I run! Obviously.
PRS Tremonti Signature
Mesa Triple Rec with matching straight cab
Franklin Pro Modded Boss SD-1
Keely compressor plus
MXR carbon copy deluxe
Crybaby wah.
Oh and a TU-2
But that Kraken sounds sweet. Never tried one. Dunno if I've ever seen one in Canada. Also love the finish on that Jackson.
I could rock the sh*t out of that.
My ultimate rig:
- Ibanez RGD7 ALPA
- Orange Rockerverb 100 MKIII
- Orange PPC 412
- Boss Metal Zone Waza
- Boss OD-3
- Boss DM-2W Delay
