I just realized. You may have the type advantage over Hop for picking the starter, but he has the type advantage for the starter that Leon would end up with. Hop was thinking long term. Hop had a vision for the Galar League. If I had the opportunity, I'd let Hop win against me. Or rather, Hop should be the real winner. I know for the sake of game play, the player has to win obviously.
Could you imagine if there was a hopeless trainer battle against your rival? But the rival is the nice and friendly type too so getting angry wouldn't be an option unless they're egotistical

Since you havent played b/w and probs not 2 either. The champions got changed cuz iris took the torch so she gives a high five to the old champ as passing the torch. The rivals grow up in between the games so those people in the middle who grow up and get tall are the rivals.

Wait you have never played black and white? Do me a favor man, buy a used copy and play it, you will not regret it, the game is amazing, the story is the best the mainline games have ever had. Yes it’s linear but it’s in service of the story so it has to be. If you question how good it is watch reviews for it. Like from IGN. And then play Black 2 and White 2. Those games are amazing as well and are direct sequels and are loved as well. In fact most people see the gen 5 games as well as the gen 4 games as quote “peak Pokémon in 2D.” But yeah have a nice day.

Like I watched most of the anime up till Gen 5 also stopped playing at Gen 5 then got back into the games at Gen 6 but stopped watching the anime. I owned all the movies VHS and DVD. Spent over $1,000 in lifetime on Pokémon products. I would just say calling someone a fake fan isn't the best way man. People can like something but still not know every little detail of a show. I love HxH but if you asked me every fact even some basic ones on the spot I could be completely wrong. But in General have a good day man and sorry for the Cringe but I am kinda Cringe in normal situations lol.
