- Filmed in London the Summer of 1985 to accompany The Long Ryders' first UK hit single. The Long Ryders play before an assembled crowd at the Mean Fiddler, get the law called on them in Harlesden (not shown), and have tons o' fun in the process. Stiff's Dave "Robbo" Robinson intersperses all of this with archival footage of uniquely American historical imagery. Meant to be played loud!
Their signature song originally appeared on 1985's State Of Our Union, and it's track #1 on Disc 2 on Final Wild Songs.

Absolutely fantastic song & a personal soundtrack of my college years. Syd Griffin is a treasure to the Americana music scene. This song is like CCR & The Clash being mixed together.

Ironic i was just researching Clark's daughter,Huguette ,172yrs from her father being born until the daughter died,got to be a record,and i also discovered,the GRANDSON of the 10th US President(Tyler) is still ALIVE (USA was only 14yrs old when he was born),absolutely nuts! :)

Fantastic band--I totally agree pal--as a Brit ere in Britain it took me a while to get my mates to see America music--Along with Jason and is merry band of scorchers ---still playing this stuff at tiny gigs, but still Rockin.
It's been 35 years since I last listened to this song which I had recorded on a VHS tape. I came here after watching an interview with Joe Strummer and Sid Griffin. Great song from my teenage years!

Saw them back in the eighties. This was their encore and I'm fairly sure that is the loudest I have ever heard a crowd cheer and scream. These guys were awesome live.
So many underrated bands then,Jason and the Scorchers were great too,but never became a household name!

I went to the Leeds and Manchester shows roughly 5 years ago. I flew from Baltimore Maryland to see them. Well worth the trip.

The Long Ryders I can say without exaggeration are one of the 5 best bands of all time. I put them in there with the Beatles, U2, Steely Dan, and Radiohead. Their songwriting and their sound were tops.
