If you can get to Nashville before the year is out, you need to go see Ray Stevens live at his CabaRay Nashville. The show was amazing! He won't be doing regularly scheduled shows in 2025. Ray also had a show you can find on UA-cam. Really a lot of people do not realize how important Ray has been in the background musically. He's spoken about being called as a session musician for Elvis and a lot of other artists. He's done many patriotic songs, gospel, and the standards. Ray even has a Frank Sinatra cover album. Really, ya'll need to do a Ray Stevens deep dive and explore the variety of what he's done.

I may have said this on another Ray Stevens video, but one of my favorites is "Three-Legged Man" which was written by the late Shel Silverstein, who also wrote Johnny Cash's famous "A Boy Named Sue" Silverstein was a poet who wrote for adults and children alike (funny enough, some schools have banned his books, the most famous of which is Where the Sidewalk Ends.) While he never to my knowledge released an actual adult book, most of his adult work was published in magazines like Playboy (which is where his amazing "Hamlet As Told on the Streets" was originally found.)

A lesser known Ray Stevens song is "I need your help Barry Manilow." I don't know if you've listened to much Manilow yet, but if you have you'd probably appreciate that one.
I never really listened to Ray Stevens, but when I was growing up there were commercials on tv about his music and compilation albums that you could order over the phone, and they would play small clips of his songs in the commercial. 😆 I do, however, remember his song "Everything is Beautiful." A lesser known Ray Stevens song is "I need your help Barry Manilow." I don't know if you've listened to much Manilow yet, but if you have you'd probably appreciate that one.
Ray was a great singer, everything is beautiful is a great song to react to
I grew up on Ray Stevens. Still one of my favorites. Records, CDs, VHS, DVDs. I've got them all.
You should also check out "Ahab the Arab." It's a hoot!

I never really listened to Ray Stevens, but when I was growing up there were commercials on tv about his music and compilation albums that you could order over the phone, and they would play small clips of his songs in the commercial. 😆 I do, however, remember his song "Everything is Beautiful." Not comedy, but lovely!
He's got so many great songs, The Haircut Song, Ahab the Arab, Gitarzan, The Streak, and many, many more!!
Not to mention his serious music, Everything is Beautiful !!
