Hi Paul I'm curious can it be setup to change the channels on your TV and generally operate it Vulume up/down and all that jaz (sorry crap joke there) via Aleskia? Because if it can then my Logitech hub can go into retirment.
How many devices can you program in the hub? This kind of reminds me of the Harmony Hub which I use and love. My only complaint about that is you can only have I think 7-8 devices. Their website talked about all kinds of devices you could control but like I said the max was 7 or 8 devices per hub

Ayup Fella, cracking video as usual. Would you do a more in-depth video on settling up the ir blaster as it’s something I’ve been wanting to incorporate for my setup which includes an rf projector screen, ir projector & turning on my av receiver to the right source. The ir blaster looks perfect for doing that & at a good price!!! Edit-I’ve just ordered 2 through your link👍🏻
I have a projector hooked to my receiver and also my android box and ps4 what do I need to make it turn on and off? Thanks for any help and great videos also sorry to post in this post
If all those devices are connected to the receiver then you should be able to enable hdmi-cec in each device so that when the receiver is turned on and switched to their input that they automatically turn on. You might need to google (or probably easier to ask ChatGPT) how to enable hdmi-cec for each device. Then you can use the BroadLink blaster to turn the receiver on and switch its input on by doing the following… 1. Add the remote and all its buttons to the LinknLink app using the wizard 2. Create a scene in the LinknLink app that presses the right buttons to switch to the PS4 3. Repeat step 2 for your other devices 4. Use the scene in Alexa in a routine that can be started with your voice or with any of your other smart home equipment.

Thanks Paul, great video as usual. How did you get the presence sensor not to trigger more than once when you walk in the room? I mean how come when jazz mode is triggered the presence sensor routine didn't override it by triggering again?

Another option for controlling the Fire TV using RF is to use of these insanely cheap IR keyboards, and to programme the RF sender with the keys that the Fire TV understands for navigation. I use this with the Fire TV Stick through an OTG adapter ant it works well.
Hey its possible to do a video of the FLIRC USB its a really cool piece of tech that I feel you would be able to get a sponsorship for and based on the video seems you have a lot experience on it. Honestly, I didn’t realize something like that was possible and it’s really amazing! Based on my early search seems you can make any remote a universal remote which is incredible! Also , I love that you made yours type keys on your computer too ! Anyways, thank you for sharing that!
I recently got a Home Assistant Green and found out that it has integrations for my WebOS TV, my Denon AV amp and my Sky box. It worked first time and I had HA turning on and flipping inputs within an hour. It’s early days but I think I can achieve these same results. Buuuuut if those things don’t work out this looks like a good alternative.
No, the Google home can't trigger off the temp, but Alexa can with a work around. Create a virtual button in the LnL app and Alexa will be able to detect it. So in LnL app, if temp is too high, turn virtual button on. In Alexa app, if virtual button on, turn on AC.
Thanks all. I have set up a routine which seems to work but as the sensor is in the greenhouse the temp at the moment is fairly steady at ***cold*** so it has not passed the level to trigger my test. Looking good so far...
Brown Alert! Brilliant. I have a certain Dutch light bulb companies PIR and bulb in the downstairs lavvy I set it up to have Alexa shout "have a nice poo!" Then didn't tell the Missus😅.😅😅😅
I paid £26 for a bulb that changed colour and also had a bluetooth speaker built in, had a lot of fun with it in the toilet until the app stopped being supported, " im watching you from behind the shower curtain" was my most erm successful phrase 😂😂
Good morning Paul, great video as always. Quick question, will it work with Google? We are a Google smart home, and enjoy watching your videos. But noticed you are not a Google enthusiasts. Keep up the great work!!

Hey i hope you see this post i had a conversation with you b4 about setting up my room up with my projector, receiver, android box and my ps4 i have been trying to figure out how to get the flirc usb and along with the linknlink hub and remote with the ps4 could you please explain how to do it or a vidieo would be great? thank you so much the help
Maybe it's just me but I have watched both videos many times but I just don't know how to get the flirc usb to communicate with the linknlink blaster and the remote? Also I have programmed my projector. Receiver. And Android box remotes to the linknlink remote I find out is I try program the ps4 to flirc under control and pick ps4 it starts doing things to the other devices not sure what's going on .I know you are always busy I do really appreciate the help I admit I am new to do this kinda stuff but anyway you make a video or wr out a step by step ?
@@stevenechavarry8069 ok, so you need to get any old remote, preferably one you don’t use anymore, or that is used in a different room from the device it normally controls. Otherwise when all this is setup you will ask for the ps4 to come on and what will happen is both the ps4 AND the remotes original device will fire up. You MUST use an old remote you don’t use, or one from a different room where the original device won’t receive the signal. You then plug the Flirc into your PC, load up the software and select the PS4 from the menu so that you are programming the flirc to control a ps4 Teach it each of the corresponding buttons on your old remote for power etc so that the Flirc will now listen to the remote codes from your old remote. Now plug the Flirc into your ps4 and see if you can control it using your old remote. If you can, then all you have to do is teach the same remote to the LinknLink blaster using their app, then you’ll be able to control the PS4 with both the old remote and by using the LinknLink app. Call the remote in the LinknLink app PlayStation From there you just enable the LinknLink Alexa skill and she will discover your PlayStation remote and from then on you should be able to say “turn PlayStation on” let me know if you get stuck
i got something simular happening when i ask google to turn on my discobar it will turn on everything realated such as the mixer, the turntables, the laptop etc. it will put all ledstrips to sound activated mode, it will turn on my disco lamps, my dmx controller, the blacklights and the lasers, meanwhile every 'normal' light will go to rainbowcolors if possible, if not they will be turned of. It will change my receiver to the dj mixer input, set the volume to my preferred mixing volume and turn of all sound effects and change it to 'direct' sound mode. (you don't want a delay in sound or echo when you are mixing music) it will also turn of the ambilghts in my tv. When i am done i ask google to turn of the discobar and everything returns to normal. I could add some sensors to do it without asking google but that is not a good idea for me because the discobar is what used to be the dining room and it is open to the living room but the sensor to notice if i am using my technics turntables is a good find from you that i may copy one day :-)
You are missing out on a simple toilet automation. I hate walking into the bathroom after someone committed murder in it and did not have the courtesy to run the exhaust fan. So, I replaced the switch controlling the fan with a smart switch. I have an Alexa routine called "turn on the fart fan" that enables it. For my next party trick, I need to install a presence detector. If someone is in there taking care of business for more than a few minutes, have it turn the fan on. If no presence detected after maybe 5 minutes, turn the fan off. (Anyone know how long the average odor lingers? Average poo time? This is scientific stuff that I do not have data for.)
Paul, Great video! Can you shine a light on how you keep all your smart home devices local and private through HA? I know that Alexa (and Google) doesn’t do that natively which is why I refuse to use any of their products. I see you always fall back on Alexa routines, speakers, etc as a part of your product presentations. Knowing you’ve highlighted HA as the backbone of your smart home in the past, I’ve made the assumption that you’re not ok with having your info processed in the cloud. It would be great if you could do a video showing us how we can use Alexa (and Google) while keeping all our smart home processes local.
Another great vid, Paul. Do you know of a pressure sensor? I use a contact sensor to turn my fridge on in my man cave because sometimes I record videos out there and I turn off the fridge when I do. Then when the door opens for me to leave, it turns on. The only problem I have with it is that it welcomes me with ashmexa’s voice regardless of whether I’m coming or going.
You need a presence sensor that will know when you arrive and when you leave. The LinknLink e-motion is good at short range such as your seated position and the aqara fp2 is the answer for larger spaces
Given you referenced your old lounge... does this mean you've moved house... and the lie(!) that is your nice tidy greenscreen office is now a double lie in that you don't have that office any more?
Surely all of the routines should be in home assistant. It’s simpler to have one system than a plethora of different apps. Would love some videos on creating local voice devices etc rather than relying on Amazon who may start charging soon. I’m currently setting up an android phone so that when I get an Uber eats or just eat notification for delivery I can use that as a trigger in HA Fun fact plethora means an excess of bodily fluid. Particularly blood in a medical sense.
That blaster looks like an absolute steal at that price with the remote as well. (Places order) - Right that's gonna piss the missus off even more after we move house and I get that integrated with my AV Amp and other devices. MUA HA HA HAAAAAAAA
@@paulhibbert So we didn't move house in the end (Long story) but I have had time to play with this device and it's awesome. Even the support from LinknLink is brilliant. I emailed them about not being able to add custom buttons to preset devices and they replied same day saying they'd add the ones I wanted to he device for me 😊

I have an old tutorial on it here 😁 How To PROPERLY Control Nvidia Shield & PS4 with Alexa: FLIRC

Love the HA Green
Happy Saturday Paul. Thank you.
Happy Saturday Ron, thanks as always for being here 😁

I assume that was meant to say noises, I’m going to take it as a compliment that I am in fact a boss at sitting up and down xxx

I plug my firestick into my onkyo theater receiver and the firestick remote controls my receiver volume.
Recently got the LnL Thermometer but I cant get either Alexa or Google to trigger on temperature, only humidity. Am I doing something wrong? :(
No, the Google home can't trigger off the temp, but Alexa can with a work around. Create a virtual button in the LnL app and Alexa will be able to detect it. So in LnL app, if temp is too high, turn virtual button on. In Alexa app, if virtual button on, turn on AC.
The LnL UA-cam channel has a video that shows this
@roachmonk oh my god that’s actual genius. Thanks for this man!
Now these are the kinds of ideas I’m looking for!
Can you cue the iconic music from the The Dam Busters to play at the same time…?
I might be able to with Google automations as I don't use Amazon music. I need to experiment!
I paid £26 for a bulb that changed colour and also had a bluetooth speaker built in, had a lot of fun with it in the toilet until the app stopped being supported, " im watching you from behind the shower curtain" was my most erm successful phrase 😂😂
0:15 Ughhhh, why are those stickers still on the front of the AVR?
Brilliant video again Paul ! Keep em coming 😂
Good morning Paul, great video as always. Quick question, will it work with Google? We are a Google smart home, and enjoy watching your videos. But noticed you are not a Google enthusiasts. Keep up the great work!!
I'm really waiting for the ISG Gateway so that I can bring all the stuff into Apple home.
I’m really looking forward to reviewing it!

This is old, but hopefully helps!… How To PROPERLY Control Nvidia Shield & PS4 with Alexa: FLIRC
ua-cam.com/video/mjDMfY348rU/v-deo.html
Maybe it's just me but I have watched both videos many times but I just don't know how to get the flirc usb to communicate with the linknlink blaster and the remote? Also I have programmed my projector. Receiver. And Android box remotes to the linknlink remote I find out is I try program the ps4 to flirc under control and pick ps4 it starts doing things to the other devices not sure what's going on .I know you are always busy I do really appreciate the help I admit I am new to do this kinda stuff but anyway you make a video or wr out a step by step ?
@@stevenechavarry8069 do you have e a remote currently that can control the PS4?
@@paulhibbert no
@@stevenechavarry8069 ok, so you need to get any old remote, preferably one you don’t use anymore, or that is used in a different room from the device it normally controls. Otherwise when all this is setup you will ask for the ps4 to come on and what will happen is both the ps4 AND the remotes original device will fire up. You MUST use an old remote you don’t use, or one from a different room where the original device won’t receive the signal.
You then plug the Flirc into your PC, load up the software and select the PS4 from the menu so that you are programming the flirc to control a ps4
Teach it each of the corresponding buttons on your old remote for power etc so that the Flirc will now listen to the remote codes from your old remote.
Now plug the Flirc into your ps4 and see if you can control it using your old remote.
If you can, then all you have to do is teach the same remote to the LinknLink blaster using their app, then you’ll be able to control the PS4 with both the old remote and by using the LinknLink app. Call the remote in the LinknLink app PlayStation
From there you just enable the LinknLink Alexa skill and she will discover your PlayStation remote and from then on you should be able to say “turn PlayStation on” let me know if you get stuck
Thanks Paul I have bought the linknlink but realised I have an unused RM4 upstairs from when you reviewed it😂
Nice video as usewell, but when are you gonna test/review the Homey Pro 2023?!
i got something simular happening when i ask google to turn on my discobar it will turn on everything realated such as the mixer, the turntables, the laptop etc. it will put all ledstrips to sound activated mode, it will turn on my disco lamps, my dmx controller, the blacklights and the lasers, meanwhile every 'normal' light will go to rainbowcolors if possible, if not they will be turned of.
Great video Paul! No jazz hands? 😂
Only behind the scenes 🤣

Thanks man! Happy Saturday dude!
Well that remote is just bluetooth, no IR component on it, thats why you need that ir blaster to begin with.
Correct
Surely all of the routines should be in home assistant. It’s simpler to have one system than a plethora of different apps.
Would love some videos on creating local voice devices etc rather than relying on Amazon who may start charging soon. I’m currently setting up an android phone so that when I get an Uber eats or just eat notification for delivery I can use that as a trigger in HA
Fun fact plethora means an excess of bodily fluid. Particularly blood in a medical sense.
I do prefer to have everything on one place where possible, but little time to make that happen at the moment
The linknlink remote should be nick named the "finger blaster" you know because you use you fingers to blast IR signals 😂
I shall recommend that! 🤣
