OMG I was there on this day!!!❤ Came all the way from Melbourne Australia to see these beautiful trains come through. Had a great afternoon with talking trains with my mate roving rail fan!! Cant wait to share some Australian trains!!!
Wow - what a blast! Greetings to my good friend, and first international subscriber. So glad you tuned in, and shared your comments here. Cheers to fond memories with a solid mate !!
Your thumnail caught my eye when i saw an engine that looks like those at home. Carload runs the Delmarva Central Railway in Delaware and is set to acquire my local line, the MDDE in Maryland. First time seeing video of Carload elsewhere. First time to your channel. I will come back. Thanks!
So glad you found my channel and thanks so much for watching. Really appreciate your comment and sharing that information about DCR acquiring the MDDE. Very interesting, and great info! Thanks again.
The trench is where the Conemaugh Line and Ft. Wayne Line meet. The inner two tracks are the Conemaugh and the outer two are the Ft. Wayne Line. The Ft. Wayne Line begins across the river at the Amtrak station where it meets the Pittsburgh Line
Awesome videos! I've never railfanned there even thought I've lived in Pittsburgh for a few years. I typically railfan between Conway and Emsworth. How often do you get out to railfan?
First of all David, thanks for watching. To answer your answer, I try to get out a couple times a week during the warmer weather. But lately I have been editing footage I took on my trip to the Chicago area. Spent 5 days filming their trains. So I need to go through all that footage before taking on more, haha. Judging from the audience response to this particular video, I will need to go back and film some more Pittsburg trains. There must be a ton of railfans who love the Pitt lines.
Since that was my first trip there, I was unprepared for the tall iron fence which prevented me from using my tripod. Fortunately, I had just upgraded my phone a month before, so had to rely on it for this video. That phone saved my bacon, and did a nice job. Thanks for your comment!
No - the trash train didn't smell, but parts of the park sure did. Horrible stench coming from rotting fruit that had fallen from the Asian ginkgo trees that line the trench. In autumn, the trees drop thousands of walnut-size fruit that decay and stink.
I’ve seen a lot of carload express trains and I gotta say I’m surprised that you didn’t see carload express 6004, I swear I see that locomotive literally on every carload express train
This was the first time I was there. In six hours, these were the trains that came through, and it was a Wednesday. Other days may be busier. Thanks for watching!

One of my favorite viewing spots
First time I was there. Enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for the clarification. My research relied on public information. Your contribution is much appreciated.

Been wanting to go there thanks for the nice overview.
You'll enjoy it there Fred. An easy drive too. Have fun!
@@RovingRailfan I will try to plan it once Frosty has moved back north again.
Great viewing via your hand-held device! Wow. Steady as she goes…😊
Btw, did it smell as train whisked by?

I thought that looked like an abandoned ft-bridge abutment! Ty for clarifying that?
Yes, the remains of the footbridge are crumbling, but I bet it was a great viewing spot back in the day. And thank you for watching and commenting!

I wish I had. Pittsburgh definitely deserves a return trip. Thanks for your comment!
How active is this line worth a drive?

Makes one wonder why Carload would use inefficient n unreliable SD50/60 units vs buying n refurbishing SD40/40-2/40-3/45s?
That is a good question. But at least they keep their locomotives clean and photogenic. Appreciate your comment.
They usually use there SD60s more than the older power, at least as far as I have seen
That is interesting. I need to return to film more AVR.
