Try clicking info on the book. Most books that have the golden aura give you a perk after "reading" it.
You are 100% correct I didn't notice the log update. It gives you a new Hell's Decree called "Decree of Shaking the Foundations." Deals 1d8 unholy damage per mythic rank to all enemies within 50 feet and forces them to pass a Fortitude save. if they fail they are knocked prone and an additional 1d8 unholy damage per mythic rank to themselves and all adjacent enemies. DC uses your mythic rank and your highest attribute modifier. Yeah that's pretty damn nice. Pinning this so others know. Thank you!

you know what would be a good reward for this quest? you gain galfrey as a companion similar to the angel and lich mythic paths, but she changes to another class that better suits a blasphemous queen like hellknight maybe?
To be honest I was a little disappointed her portrait didn't change. LOL
Yeah. Even in the final attack on the threshold, her powerset doesn’t change, its still paladin galfrey there. I liked this questline, as I had to have a philosophical discussion with myself over whether this was something I wanted to do, and tbh I think making this the quest you get your 9th mythic rank from would have made it worth it using the cheliax plot as a backup (though getting the rank when I told the chelaxian queen to go pee up a rope was glorious).
How I ended up justifying this, including the sacrificing of so many lives, was thus. First, Galfrey is a bad ruler. Period. The state of Mendev the minute she leaves the capital is evidence of her drive to be the center of everyone’s focus, which in a ruler is a sign of egotism. If your kingdom can’t manage the ruler being out of town for a couple weeks without collapsing in on itself, the ruler clearly kept far too much authority and did not allow competent subordinates to pick up the slack. Secondly, she herself shows very little concern for the people beneath her. She sends conscripts with leather armor and wooden sticks to fight demons that can only reliably be hurt with coldsteel weaponry. She uses penal battalions with horrific mortality rates. She had caused at this point several generations of her nation to fight and die in a losing war, a war which has drained the aristocracy of its best families and the people of its strongest workers and skilled laborers, and the minute a cadre of talented leaders and warriors emerge led by an individual who threatens her status as the symbol of the crusade she punishes them and exiles all of them to the abyss. Not the main character alone, their entire cadre, including her own cousin and potential heir. The devil questline reinforces this further by having her new squire be a girl whose brothers, plural, were killed in Galfrey’s ill advised assault doing the exact same plan she sentenced staunton to the condemned for. Let’s make that clear: Staunton led his army with the banner to strike at Iz. It was ill advised and driven by his ego, spurred by a demon. He was sentenced to be a penal soldier for decades as a result. Galfrey does the same thing, WITHOUT A DEMON TRICKING HER, and she emerges scot free? As a devil, it is your duty, your RESPONSIBILITY, to make Galfrey fall and lose her paladin blessing and potentially her throne. Revenge is a subset of the motivation, sure, and well deserved at that, but GALFREY DESERVES EVERY BAD THING TO HAPPEN TO HER. The funniest thing to me in my playthrough is I did Arushalae’s romance and still banged Galfrey; one last act of vengeance. She gets NOTHING. Galfrey gets used and spat out just like she used and spat out her nation to fuel her own ego for centuries.
Follow up: interesting ending slide for a Galfrey who sells her soul to a devil. So that was worth it at least.
I wish they had finally added the Antipaladin class/archetype and let Galfrey become that. If nothing else, Paladin has a Vindictive Bastard archetype that would have also been perfect here. As an aside, I love the Vindictive Bastard archtype and would play it over almost any other melee build, if I was a melee type person.
Watching this just makes me wish devil was an early mythic path 😂

With anyone else it might seem weird for them to heel turn so quickly but with Galfrey it seems completely in character with how much of a butthead she is after betraying the commander.
I also get what you're saying about the equal partner romance thing. I think Owlcat is afraid (or unwilling) to write something like that in today's hypersensitive society. You can kill innocents, commit all kinds of atrocities, but being domineering in a fictional relationship is crossing a line.
Swarm that Walks is a mythic path and everything is cool, but god forbid the commander claps two girls at the same time pulling their hair and talking dirty to them.
You might be right and I think that's unfortunate.

I definitely wanted to see this content. I generally don't play evil characters. So, thank you for showing content I don't have the patience to do myself. It is a long game.
I liked this quest and wished there were more like it throughout all paths. Demons should be able to persuade/intimidate other demons to your service, resurrect enemies as a lich to send them to do battle, and so on. The romance options for evil playthroughs are something I can agree with, but I understand why Owlcat wouldn't do so. It is a vast amount of work not just to make but also to implement the options. Would these options only be available to certain mythic paths, or would choosing those paths result in the romance automatically taking this path. I get the frustration with the constant emphasis on being equals, considering all but one romance keeps hammering on this.
It's understandable, considering that throughout the game, your status, power, and emotional stability change from being equal or below to above any of your companions. Wenuag recognizes you as a master from the beginning, where she serves you for position and power; if useless, she'll be discarded. Sosiel is naive, relying entirely on you for emotional support and depending on your power to find his brother. Lann is short-lived, entirely at your mercy in all three, and feels he will be discarded once you lose interest. Daeran has been put under you as a superior, has a most inside him that you free him from, and is vastly more powerful; he fears loving because you might grow bored of him and destroy him like nocticula did her former lover. Arueshala is the same, needing help overcoming her demonic nature. I think them needing affirmation would be warranted as you change a great deal and thus get more options for partners.
I still wish that if you're already affirmed them you wouldn't need to do so again as a commander has chosen them and continues to show interest regardless of their changes. I do want those evil options though, but can understand why they didn't do so.

For Galfrey romance it would be understandable for her to want to be an equal to the PC since she's a queen and would not accept being a slave.

Thanks for posting this. I always felt the Devil path was a slow burn without much payoff, this definitely helps. I'm guessing Devil was a stretch goal or something and was a bit shoehorned into the original release.
I kind of disagree with one thing Asmodeus says....Galfey's soul being "innocent." Galfrey is pretty rife with petty jealousy and envy, arrogance and carelessness. Yes, even the best souls have their faults but Lord....Galfrey's are LEGION. As many have pointed out, her tactical stupidity makes what Staunton did pale in comparison, and he got 80 years in the condemned until it broke him. She'll be a great fit for Hell!
Most likely everyone in the crusade has faults but they are at least striving to do the right thing.
I hope Galfrey enjoys a one way trip to Detroit.

Social Media would come down on Owlcat with the force of a thousand suns if they allows for the type of relationship you describe in any of the Evil paths. It's unfortunately just the reality of the present day, you simply cannot tell certain kinds of stories without fearing a backlash. Many seem to have difficulty separating fiction from RL.
There's Sosiel's evil MP's romance branch. It's dark and submissive.
If this was a new game I'd agree but I doubt there would be much uproar for a DLC for a game that's two years old.

You might want to try romancing Sosiel on an evil Mythic Path. That romance branch is anything but equal partnership.
For Galfrey I feel that it would be in her character to want being equal with her partner, rather than to enter into submission. But maybe that's just me.
I romanced Sosiel as a Lich and honestly found it boring but only because it wasn't my cup of tea. Does he stick around if you are a Demon?
Shame you're not continuing with your Lets play. I was actually quite enjoying it, although I think I started late compared to when you started the walkthrough. I thought you went with Wendaug though?
My only real disappointment with the mythic path is that I don't end up looking like Mephisto, or even having working wings that don't look sort of stuck on (I get that is a limitation of the engine though). I like how this quest has me actually form contract with someone.
I'm ok with the fight not being super difficult, at that point you just had a ridiculous Diplomatic checks to even become a Devil in the first place (unless they nerfed that and made it easier).
This video is from a save I did as Littlefinger and I just respecced into Isaac. You are correct in the LP I chose Wenduag. Unfortunately the channel wasn't interested in the Isaac Let's Play but perhaps there's another one that would hold their attention. :)

So, before I watch this... as a gamer who focuses on narrative, would you say this redeems Devil's weaknesses, or at least the non-mechanical parts? Is devil worth a playthrough now? I kind of want to go in blind if it's good, but I don't want to devote a 50ish hour playthrough if devil is still a 'meh' path narratively.
I'd say narratively Devil is better than Trickster and Gold Dragon but not as good as Angel, Demon, or Azata. I think this quest improves the experience but not sure it will give you what you need.

It starts out that way but you cannot continue it for long or either the romance will break off or she will betray you.

I dont blame owlcat for not including slave master relationships.

The post launch updates for this game have been pretty disappointing, especially the separate dlc adventures. Hope they dont mess up with rogue trader

@@SlanderedGaming Dance of masks and the shifter dlc are the good ones, but thats only 2/6 dlcs that are worth getting. Largely because they spent way too much time on the separate story dlcs. It looks like they wont mess up RT because they realized that people like companion/quest dlcs much more than isolated stories
kinda annoyed there are no real unique relationship dynamics, in kingmaker you could be in a throuple or have harem of teifling twins. they upgraded alot of stuff compared to kingmaker but think they held themselves back in other places, doesnt help that baldurs gate 3 has ascended astarion giving you full slave treatment if you in a relationship

This is why i love owlcat. sure they werent able to do this in Enhanced Edition, it got cut out, but when they had opportunity two YEARS later they went for it, they are basically pre-success Larian. I just hope they Manage to fix Rogue Trader because chapter 4 and 5 are massively incomplete there.
Ironically there seems to be a growing swell of people who want them to do Baldur's Gate 4. LOL
@@SlanderedGaming We gonna wait few years :D they are currently on level of Divinity II, success but not great breakthrough, but they are planning to do their own IP next from what i heard, That might be why Rogue Trader Got 2 Dlcs in season pass rather than 3.
I completely agree with your end statement there. Especially regarding evil characters, I think the game should allow me to live out a harem fantasy if that's my choice. The morality of woke 2020's monogamous equality doesn't need to present itself in every scenario.

Yeah it's very odd to see.
Tbh the quest is kinda disappointing. Dialogues look like they were written by Kathleen Kennedy so simple and really predictable, the fights... weren't there really and most importantly there is not enough reward. Give us sth akin to the Lich Skeletal Finger I mean I enjoy really long quests similar to Ulbrig's personal quest BUT the rewards have to be really worth it. I mean just look at what the Act 5 Ulbrig rewards, what it could give you like come on man this is so not worth it. Nearly an hour of my life wasted for a bit of exp and some scandalous scenes with Gaffrey like really? Is that all? DLC 6 is still worth it I think because of the new archetypes but this quest just ain't it really.
I missed that the book Asmodeus gives you provides a new Hell's Decree once you click on it. There's a pinned message walking through what the ability does. I haven't played through Ulbrig's questline so not sure what those rewards are and how this compares.
This is remnant from Enhanced Edition that got cut then, Since they wont have other opportunities they propably put together what they had.
Wonder if now you'll get people complaining that you didn't complete the run. 🤔. But yeah I feel content wise the pathfinder games have been covered completely I gues. Also been a few years people don't really stay with the same game for all that long anymore. At least not single player games.
I set people up at the beginning of the Let's Play to know how many views would be required for me to keep it going. Shouldn't be a problem. I still have a few more Pathfinder videos to do but yeah it's just about time to move onto something different.
@@SlanderedGamingshame really because both kingmaker and wotr were both really amazing to play through a couple of times. Although thanks to wotr I can't really enjoy kingmaker as much anymore, compared to wotr KM is very railroaded in the way you can go about the story.
Only other game that I enjoyed replaying as much and still try to play from time to time is either BG2 or NWN 2.
Retro games are kind of making a return.
