Tiny Baby Seal Stuck Between Big Rocks

- Not one of our classic entanglements, but definitely a seal rescue: a tiny seal pup slipped between the rocks at Cape Cross, unable to get himself out of there. We have different theories how he got into that situation, but we know with absolute certainty that he was not able to free himself. Luckily the OCN team was around, and they could wiggle him out of the whole. The ordeal took a few minutes, but in the end the pup was rescued and he immediately went looking for his mom. 🦭

I agree that could have been his mum. Maybe she heard his crying and went to look for him.
After his ordeal, he’ll probably be very hungry for both a little milk, and some serious parental comfort.

You come across so many weird and sadly creative ways these beautiful and cute seals find to get themselves in mortal danger. Yet you pull through and keep on saving them. It must be both hard to bear and unbelievably gratifying to see them run back to sea or their families. Bless you and your team. Your work is heartwarming! Oh my God, I am having hard time again! Thank you for saving the little seal being stacked between rocks! Just a suggestion as you may want to bring some water, soap and may be some tools which could break the rocks. And maybe really idea to give the seal a bit of water first :)! Thank you all heroes!! What an interesting entanglement! My guess is he might have been trying to climb over the smaller rock and slid into the ver challenging spot. I hope he has become an adult seal.

A very sweet and patient seal pup. I'm extremely happy the seal pup was released. Here's a question - I noticed a seal way in the back making haste to get to the pup that was released, do you know if that was a sibling or Mom?
In the last few seconds of the video another seal can be seen coming towards the little guy.
the seal has probably been lodged in there a while and grown in the meantime and made the situation worse

The relief after being rescued frim this slow agonising death are beyond words. Imagine trapped, unable to move, hungry and punished by elements plus biting insects. Bless you all for finding and rescuing this little baby seal. Great work guys.

What a good patient! It seemed like he had given up, but perked up and calmed down when his rescuers arrived. Thank you so much for saving this little cutie!🦭😍🙏
The fact that they even got near his mouth with his hands and he didn’t bite says a lot. He basically gave up on everything. He knew that, even if they were predators, he couldn’t do anything and just accepted it.

@@sandesh9240 Clearly the pup was disoriented. While they gave the pup a fighting change, it should have taken beyond the distractions of the rocks and released in the water.

There're so many man-made hazards out there, even mother nature gives them this deathtrap. Life in nature is such a tough life.
@@kingo_friver Sadly "a" is not kidding. He or she is one of those people who think all animal rescue videos are people who put animals in peril in order to record and upload to UA-cam for likes. The other sad thing is these people like "a" don't bother to research the rescue organization before they make their slanderous remarks.
@@slp-mu6uj Uh oh he's not...But I love him for being so skeptical. Some animal lovers tend to be susceptible to those scams, no matter how unbelievably obvious fakes they are. As you say, they just need to look up "About" on the channel page.
Great job! The problem with animals getting trapped is that they often swell up when struggling to get free, which is why you wonder how they got into that position in the first place when it's so hard to get them out again.
I did something like this when I was a kid, stuck my leg in between porch railings and couldn't get it back out, the fire department rescued me!

Oh if you ever get a finger or an arm or something, stuck in a ring/hole/pipe/tube/etc. make sure to hold the item úp and the fingers/arm too,
Many people point their hand *down* and hope that it helps with the item falling off, but it just makes the blood stream towards the fingertip.
Put the finger/arm up in the air, the item too and either put olive-oil on there (careful, it can make the ring slippery too and that makes things more difficult) or use the technique with the rope (twisting it around the finger and making the finger thinner this way, it's online.)
And keep calm, if it's your finger (or tell the person to keep calm.)
That way, the ring or tube or item will fall off the quickest.
Another issue is many animals have a strong instinct to try to run forwards if they're scared, so backing out sometimes doesn't even occur to them. And with seals I'm not sure how good they physically are at moving backwards - everything in their body seems designed to go forwards.
I've seen enough Mr. Ballen videos to have been terrified for this little guy.
I am hoping you put another rock into that space so another pup seal doesn’t get trapped. That was a wonderful rescue that saved that poor pup from dying a slow death.
Seal pups will always find a way to get in trouble. :)

Okay, that was THE MOST STRESSFUL rescue EVER! I was so afraid the little pup wouldn't be freed... but I juped up and down with joy when you helped him. Well done, everyone!!!

*_Fascinating bit of Baby Seal info: that they can go for DAYS, alone and unfed, while their mother is foraging offshore._* Remarkable; something that I would never have thought possible. With OTHERS here, I hope for the best regarding its REUNION with its mother; at which time the little one will have an amazing story to tell, about which his mother may justifiably be just a bit skeptical. [Haha!] Anyway, thank all you OCN guys and gals for the rescue, resulting in a young life extended; a life now re-opened to all kinds of possibilities and wonders.

Animals are generally good at avoiding bad experiences.
There are actually certain moths that have evolved to taste bad so that after eating them bats will avoid them in the future because of the bad memory - it doesnt save the first moth but it does save many more!

Thought that to till i saw his brothers and sisters all around that rock. Then I thought maybe this pup is the bad kid in the family and mom has to keep putting him there when they go out to eat. Because last time they left him alone he went out and lost the cloth necklace family heirloom.
