Great video Shane Pellet testing is so important Some people think it's the gun at fault when all is needed is pellet tests Cut out the target changing Just show us the pellets and target speeded up and would be a brilliant watch Keep it up mate 👍
Nice vid Always amazes me that pellets can weigh and look and group exactly the same yet poi is very different. The new gun looks a sweet shooter. Look forward to your next vid
Thanks Phil yep it is a mystery, poa and poi , when different brands of pellets don’t look that much different, or don’t weigh much difference, the magic circle of lead ,,,, l o l cheers shane
have seen a lot of people twist about the rws superfields but I've always had good results in .177 and .22 there a solid all rounder I would say, good stuff
That was quite a conclusive test. I have a 57 myself and I am very happy with it. It has 5,5 ft/lbs and for my 15mtrs range I have found H&H Sport (wadcutters) to be ideal. What I have been wanting to test yet is the H&N Excite Hammer. Much like the Sport It is also a "budgety" round though conceived for distance and knockdown targets. The HW57 is a diva but once you do everything right while shooting it will hit on the dot and bring a lot of fun.
My Remington XP tactical prefers Remington hammers and RWS super field . I’ve bought 7 other tins and yes it’s expensive lol but I’ll use them somehow. Great video
Good vid, my .177 HW57 is also very pellet fussy. I've not tried RWS Superfield and will give them a go. Tried: Crossman premier HP, bisley practice, Geco, R10, JSB exact (4.52), RWS HP, H&H Baracuda (Bisley Magnum).....all not grouping. Only JSB Express 4.52 have grouped to date.
Thanks for the comments Martin , breathing hard to control , I’m on beta blockers , blood pressure tablets and more besides , my resting heart beat is around 48 bpm , I just try and keep breathing slowly when shooting , l o l
I got a hw57 in 177 too. Sweet shooter and only thing I'm not too fond of are iron sights - the picture just is not the clearest out there! Whats your go to pellet with yours?
I start off with air arms Diablo with all guns except my new fx , as I believe they test and set up them guns with jsb , cheers buddy , also never used the iron sights on the 57 , as I shoot out 60 70 yards , regular , and the sights woukd obscure the target at that range , cheers shane
Hi,can I ask how are you liking the hw57? Why I ask I am looking at one next week , good pellet test vid by the way.whats your go to pellet now for the 57? Regards Tony
Hi Tiny Happy New yr and sorry for the delay in the reply , off the top of my head without watching my own video , I can’t remember , but my go to pellets to start with are Air Arms express , blue and black tin ,, I don’t have any j s b pellets or intend to buy any , I no longer own the 57 , I did a deal with a gun , so my Friend John owns it now , I don’t normally keep all my guns because to keep the channel going I have to swap and change we’re I can ,as I only work part time 20 hrs a week since my heart attack 6 yrs ago, so my finances are tight , I can’t afford to keep all the guns I buy ,,, hope that helps , however the 57 is a mighty fine and accurate springer that gets overlooked, get a mk2 with the 2 dots on the loading push down tray , and it also is threaded at the end of the barrel ,, apparently the mk1 had occasional issues , but I love all Weihrauch guns ,, they are my favourite of all brands ,good engineering, last the test of time , tuneable, and normally reasonable prices ,,,cheers shane
Hi, are you able to say which would be the quieter option for back yard plinking.. the 57 or the 97? I hear .177 has more bark than .22 would that be right?
@@leahjackson7661 I’ve never put thought in to how loud a springer gun is , because I live in a built up sort of neighbourhood, we’re people all make noise and don’t seem to care or have any sort of respect for, others , by nature of the springer action, they are never gonna be whisper quiet like a pcp , I’ve seen people putting silencers or muzzles on springers but that’s more for downrange rapport, so other rabbits etc don’t hear them , , also tuned springers are normally a bit quieter ,,, hope that helps somewhat , however if noise was , main concern and i shot mostly in my garden , I would get a pcp , some of those are mouse territory in noise ,,,,,,, cheeers shane
hello Shane ye iv been meaning to ask you where the heck you bought those silly very expensive 200 in a box at what was it £30 they seen your wife coming i got a box of the same 200 £14 pellet testing time i love it
Had both Rob , I’d handle them both and go with what you prefer buddy , I’ve had both and prefer the Hw57 , but the 99s that I bought new was a good well built gun but for some reason I didn’t bond with it , I don’t think my Remington is as well made or as accurate as the 99 but I prefer it and it’s nearly half the price , weird but true , I’ve never had a favourite, gun car or motorbike , ,I like them all for different reasons , cheers Rob thanks for the comment stay safe Shane
I don’t shoot slugs buddy , just pellets , and when I get a new or second hand gun , I shoot as many different brands of pellets as I can to find what the gun shoots best , some guns will shoot fairly accurately with a lot of different brands and some like a certain head size or prefer just a few or one brand of pellets , it’s your job to find what it likes and get the best from it , cheers shane
I shoot a .22 95k but ? It may work ? Weirach FT pellets are 5.53 or 54 and are very good. Geoff wilsons guns at Carlisle put me onto H&N 5.54 and they are the dogs danglers ! Oversize works in my .22 give it a shot
Yes I have some in my gun box , not sure why your asking , my philosophy is , ,,,when I acquire a new gun , I pellet test that gun with as many different brands as I can get my hands on, and then after establishing what it likes best and shoots the best groups with , is what I then buy just for that gun ,,, regardless on the cost ,thanks shane
@@shaneweightman Absolutely, me too. I just watched your excellent video and made myself a shortlist of the pellets you found to be best, I also then heard about QYS. Have you done a comparison of these against the ones you found worked best in your rifle at the time of this video?
I've just bought the exact same gun and i will start testing it with your recommended ones. (I have added some pellets from the comments too). . In summary the ones to try first would be: RWS Super fields H&N FTT AA DIABLO EXPRESS JSB Express 4.52mm - from edwardd7039's comment below Love your channel

H&N are very good iv got those for the .22 & Diablo 8.4gr another very good one
I started out with JSB EXACT diablos 13.73gr 20 cal in my HW90. They were so good from the start that I never tested any other pellet.

I've tested many rifles and many pellets and RWS and Air Arms pellets tend to get better groups than most other pellets.
That’s it buddy , stick with them if the barrel likes them , cheers shane
Thanks for the hint about the JSB EXPRESS 4.52mm. I'll try them
It seems to like the harder alloy pellets. May be slightly over sprung. Needs tuning!
My 57 liked JSB Jumbo heavy. 18 grain.
Yeh love to no the reason why some shoot great and others rubbish , mystery l ol
@@shaneweightman I was lucky as they were the first pellets I tried. lol.
The RWS Super Dome is my Go To pellet, bearing in mind the low right shot might have been slightly pulled /flyer ??
Controlled Breathing is the way to go Shane!! Always fire one the "Exhale" of your breath. That way will give a better evaluation when pellet testing.
