Morning Andy, great review. Forget the trolls, springers can be shot rested but like pellets you need to find the right rest for the gun. Try putting a piece of cloth or duster on the front rest they can be a bit 'grippy'. Keep up the good work.
Very weird, I have/had owned a 95,98 and 99 these shot from 4 different filled bags and various rests with no adaption needed. A springer does not need a slippy rest
I think part of the fun is finding out what the gun likes and whatever suits you as a shooter. I currently have a 97, TX200 and LGU all used in 25m benchrest competition. Also have a HW 30, 90 and 95. I can honestly say they all have a preferred type/density front rest. They all shoot well off a medium density bag but the accuracy can be fine tuned if you experiment with materials and fillings. Precise repetition and placement are also crucial. All my guns shoot better than me!😂
Because you disagree doesn't make you a troll, just because you don't agree - doesn't make them a troll, look up the definition ( in laments a Troll just spams offensivities completely of topic).
Weihrauch and Diana make great springers. I have both, including an HW35E from the 70s and my brother still has "our" 35, bought in 1975! HW99S is another great, real value gun. I'd put my hand between the gun and the rest and always aim to balance at the same point. Over half a century on, a springer is still a great challenge in the garden bottle top challenge, even though I have guns that can shoot out to 1000yds they are still as much value to your shooting, perhaps moreso. Thanks for the review. Nobody would go wrong with this gun.
Got the exact same gun in 22. Was a bit buzzy so fitted a softer spring to detune it a bit and tight fitting nylon spring guide and top hat. It's now a very sweet springer and very accurate. Regards
Hi Andy, I have the 99s (same gun) in .22 bought it new and did need a pull through and a good few pellets through to lead the barrel. It is very accurate and like you say a beautiful gun. My rifle is paired with a Hawke vantage 2-7 x 32 AO IR and is perfect. Also the gun likes the artillery hold. Shot many rats its great for pest control but also holds its own on the range and gives many a pcp a run for its money. Every air gunner should have one in their collection.
@@barsons2298 Hi agreed great out of the box, not sure if a so called tuning kit would improve an already great gun. I do intend to re grease and slightly polish the internals if it starts to show any signs of twang or roughness as have read the factory lube isn't great. I went for the IR for the etched glass recital and the fact I shoot a lot at dusk with quite a dark back drop. The smaller scope really suits these rifles. If was to upgrade it would probably be an Airmax but really happy with the Vantage. Too many over scope these rifles with larger scopes that ruin the look of this beautiful rifle.
Yeah Ive not felt the need to improve its performance even after three years. Provided the zero is good, I need to tweak it slightly based on my range/distance, generally the only issue it has is the shooter!
I have EXACTLY the same Rifle and scope. Bought new 1 year ago. It's fitted with a 1 piece 4 bolt (medium) Hawke mount. I have also done some mods regarding the open sights as they will never be used. Even if you can't see them (normally) they DO block some light entering the front lens element.
I really like the fact you're honest about taking the "idle" route. That's a nice way of saying pcp shooting takes less skill than a springer. I've owned a 97k blue laminate since November last year, the accuracy is incredible as long as you do your part consistently. I got it tuned by one of if not thee best professional springer tuners in the UK (Nick Simmons) a few months ago. I had to learn to shoot it again as the rifles characteristics completely changed and it's so much better for it. I was getting very tight groups at 50 yards before the tune, now I can get pellet on pellet single hole groups at 60 yards.
Every now and then I take only my 95 and 97’s (new and old) to the range to remind me what it is all about, how to breathe how to hold etc. Springers are amazing, I am a rubbish shot until I settle in after the first 10/15 pellets. I never hunt with them as I have been spoilt with by my 100kt and others. More vids like this please mate, it how us of a certain age started and maybe how youngsters should also start or at least try??
40 meters with a springer on a windy day. If you were plinking cans at that distance you’d have been delighted. Nothing wrong with that group given the circumstances
Beautiful rifle. I'm not ususally a laminate fan but these 125yr versions are lovely. I was luck to get my hands on a 97kt 125yr version and its fantastic and yes it is being used . I have 4 Weihrauch sppringers and all like to be held slightly differently to get the best out of them. All keepers I might add. Great Video .
I think i know why you were enjoying shooting it? because it was a challenge, rather than putting every pellet through the same hole as with most PCPs i got back into air guns a few years ago after shooting HW rifles mainly HW80 in the late 80s dont get me wrong i love my PCPs now but theres something about the challenge of a springer
Not bad at all Andy. I drape an old cue cloth over the rest when using a springer as it allows the rifle to slide freely in its natural path. I do like the scope having been tempted to buy one from your recent review. Mine sits on a 100 bullpup though I may invest for the 97k too given the quality and price point. Looking forward to next week 👍
Great review Andy loved it! You can get a sleeve type silencer with a cut out for the front post so open sights can be used with a silencer, I have a couple of HW springers they are getting on for 30 years old and are still going strong, portable, strong and accurate, everyone has to have a break barrel springer , best fun to be had with your clothes on .
I always appreciate your honesty and I reckon another 100 pellets through the barrel and you would be able to pop off all the trolls. That Orion scope is awesome, I purchased one when you made the video on it. Keep up the good work.
Hi, i got one from vector air. A great rifle. Don't worry about the trolls. I've been shooting without a sight at 25 meters.I also have a Weihrauch hw77k. It's brill. Loving it. Great review. Keep up the good work.
Morning Andy, good review as usual I was lucky enough to have been able to buy one of the two of these my local dealer managed to obtain, the other was a .22 cal ( they were available in both calibres). As you say it is a beautiful rifle that I think in time will become a collectors classic. There is also a HW97 125 year anniversary special in a similar finish. I have 4 Weihrauch rifles, a 97, a 95 and 100 bullpup in addition to the 50 (the 97 and 95 being Welsh Willy tuned) they are all superb, for those unable to obtain an anniversary special, you can buy the standard HW50 for £330 or the very similar HW99 from just over £300, both lightweight full power rifles.
Andy - Fair review - as always. Just bought the kral np02…you need to revisit after 5 years - fantastic! New trigger & other refinements…full power now and tight groups. Worth a second look! Regards Geoff
On the subject of pellet choice for my 99s (same rifle) in .22 I have found the best to be H&N Field Target Trophy. They are a really good fit in the barrel and the weight is spot on at 14.66gr giving 11.7 ft lb. I also have good results with Air Arms Diabolo Field that I use if its windy conditions at 16gr these are slightly looser in the barrel. Short range sub 20 yards ratting I use JSB Hades with good results, don't think the pellet mushrooms / fragments at sub 12ft lb but defiantly slows down and dumps more energy. One word of caution they are very loose in the barrel and have to close the barrel facing down as to not clip the pellet skirt. They are accurate. A surprise budget pellet that I tried at the range that a friend was using was the new style Spitfire Dome, my rifle seemed to like them. They did look very clean and well produced.
Nice to see you got one of these as well. I got one in .22 cal and I love mine I have made a few videos with it already. I love the red laminate stock on mine and it just a gorgous air rifle and the accuracy is amazing as with all the weihrauchs I own. So good to see you got one.
If its a brand new rifle you'll need to fire a tin pellets to burn off excess oil, bed in the action, and lead the barrel. Groupings will tighten up. Weihrauchs like the tighter pellets. 4,52 or 4.53.
Hi Andy, I’ve got one in .22. I have to say well done on your lighting, I’ve watched several reviews where the filming doesn’t do that beautiful stock justice, it really is stunning in the flesh, this is the only time I have bought a rifle based purely on its looks and wouldn’t have cared if it was 2ft/lbs with the grouping of a blunderbuss. I’ve had it months and am seriously thinking of never firing it and keeping it perfect and boxed as a family heirloom!! Great review, keep up the good work 👍
Commenting before the end, I bought a HW85k to shoot open sights suppressed. Weihrauch make, or at least did make slip on suppressors (15 or 16mm barrels) that you fasten the front sight through. It is accurate. But I much prefer my old BSA supersport, which had anti-boing technology way back in the 90's. The weihrauch I bought makes the loudest boing noise I have ever heard, and that has really spoiled it for me. Also the monkey that put it together over tightened the screws that keep the barrel closed.
It’s like everything in life practice makes perfect, I mainly shoot pcp’s but it’s nice to go back to your roots and get a springer out from time to time and I sometimes take a springer out for a bit of vermin control after I’ve made a hole in the rat population on certain permissions, but I’ll always have a warm up to remember how they shoot and to get my eye in so I’m all set for the main event. Looks a lovely rifle and as I’m a bit of a Weihrauch nut this is one I’ve never shot. Great review Andy see you next week.
Hi Andy. I have one of the 125 HW 50's in 22. Cleaned the barrel before use and it shoots great. Very accurate. Ive shot a 99 and this gun feels miles better. I think Weihrauch have taken more time with them / mild tune ? it does not feel as boingy as Weihrauch springers are off the shelf. A keeper
It is a colour scheme that doesn't appeal to me personally but we are all different...the rifle itself is everything you would want in a break barrel (for me personally) .....they do make lovely rifles and i love springers....if they had just made it in blue (which perhaps says more about football shirts than rifles) 👍
Hey, like you said you’re not a springer shooter but 2nd time you shot it it was much better. Plus it was brand new rifle so it will get better with more lead though it.
That second group is a good group. All of the variance is side to side on a single vertical plane, purely wind! I reckon on a still day you'd put that all in a ragged hole. That particular gun doesn't seem to mind being shot rested rather than artillery hold. Nice gun!
Thanks Andy, another great review. It's a lovely gun, but not for me as I need a silencer for both pest control and for back garden plinking, also that beautiful stock wouldn't be improved by either barbed wire or brambles. I've had various springers since the early 60s, and before people even thought about such things as spring dampening and barrel harmonics we always held the fore end quite loosely in the hand rather than on a rest because it gave a better result. Might be worth a try?
Great channel with some great reviews and information. The only thing that is really annoying and I'm not the only one who thinks so is when you've finnished your review in the studio which is always excellent you then say let's get it on the range and then repeat what you've just told us in the studio (arrrrrrg) I actually ended the video at that point. My grandad used to repeat himself 🤔 😂😂😂.
I hope that for £450 they have managed to solve the galling problem that caused so many bad reports about this rifle and the Hw30. Would be nicer in a well grained walnut.
FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY QUID for a twang and bang!!! For £50 more you can have a JTS Airacuda max like my .177 and .22 versions that will group 8mm at 40 yards.
I think your competitions should be free to enter,I have no bankcard ,so cant enter ,plus. People who really need to win can't because of lack of funds ,just a thought, love your channel, really good information,
40 meters in the wind…. You shot well. I almost regret owning a HW50, almost. I’m having a hard time justifying buying the 125 Anniversary edition. There is a Weihrauch suppressor that slides on the barrel and clamps around the front sight. At least it is available in the US. Is the HW99 a HW50 variant for the UK market?
Hey Andy. I only really have two things that "spring" to mind watching your video. Firstly, we are watching a review. Your review. That means it's YOUR opinion. Let the haters hate. The other thing I would add as constructive criticism is that I don't believe a rest should be used with a springer. Hands and arms only to get consistant results. Keep up the good work.
another great review and also it was great to see that you also have to do some things over again,it is a great looking gun, especially like the red laminate stock, and haters gonna hate anyway, keep up the great reviews, love watching 'em very friday
The reloading phase sounds great, I want one, but this brand takes almost a year to arrive in Northern Ireland ( British ), my friend is waiting a very long time for his HW 97, still not here the Brexit thing is sore on us!
I shoot all types of rifles but you really need to keep it at 25mtrs with a springer if using for pest control but if plinking go long for fun but this ain’t supposed to be a plinker
Love springers, have a Walther and a Diana and want a Weihrauch but this one won't be it. Sorry but not a lover of laminate stocks and this one is a tad on the gaudy side for my own taste... (not a hater, just don't like it,,, two different things for those who love to use the word "Hater" ) otherwise great review. It takes a while for new springs to work themselves in to get consistent results so I'm not surprised this one knocked out a few flyers, give it a tin or two of pellets and I'm sure things will tighten up, after all it's a Weihrauch.... 👍
Tasty gun, but £450 is abit much for a HW99S/HW50. £350-£390 would be a more sensible price. Its £285 for a standard HW99S near me and that is pretty darn fair for a German gun you will probably keep forever.
Morning Andy, great review. Forget the trolls, springers can be shot rested but like pellets you need to find the right rest for the gun. Try putting a piece of cloth or duster on the front rest they can be a bit 'grippy'. Keep up the good work.

At 40 metres that's not bad, especially considering the wind. I'm sure at around 25/30 metres the groups would be alot better.
That’s a great looking stock - love it! For a non normal springer shooter your results were acceptable given the obvious wind conditions👍🏻
For someone who prefers, "The Dark Side". That second go at 40 metres was very respectable. Nice review as always.

Thank you Andy, I'd just like to say I really do enjoy your videos, but I have a problem fitting any sort of optic onto a break barrel rifle.
The new HW 99s (same as 50) is such a beautiful rifle with lovely wood grain. This looks like a Tarts Handbag.
beautiful gun and very nice shooting at 40m. Love my HW's I have a 90k and 99s and would never swap them. Great vid as usual, nice 1 Andy.

Away, Andy. Great review. I occasionally dust off my old Webley and BSA springers to test my mettle. pcps make it too easy sometimes.
By the way, I’ve always found weihrauch springers always take a few hundred pellets before accuracy settles down and gets really good.

Good morning all Have a fantastic weekend ... take care
Lovely well priced quality rifle.
My friend Harry, with an aitch, would like this one 😅
Great air rifle with and even more glamourous stock! You're correct Andy,... it does tick the boxes, in my opinion too.
Great review Andy see you next week.
andy, would love to see a review on the fx drs. cheers
Beautiful looking gun. Love my springers / nitro pistons made well.

I would say though that at that price I'd be looking for an HW35e in the lovely walnut stock.
Love the Hw no matter what model!!
A lot of money for a posh handle for your brush! Is a plain beech version available?? 🤔
Nothing wrong with that grouping at 40+ yards.
Beautiful looking rifle. I would think 11ft pounds of energy is enough for pest control at relatively short range. Though I don’t shoot live quarry.
Absolutely gorgeous rifle
Ye can see the kick on the rifle, its crying to be held lovingly. Big comment 'Thanks for the vid, beautiful rifle.'
The Hw 50 is de best spring piston break barrel with medium power.
I have one and the 7.87 JSB are the best pellets for it.
What a great springer I’ve been looking , it’s time to go shopping lol
good review Andy :) looks a good rifle tbh some tweaks here and there and a good run in should fire dead on :)
I have a HW50 and a HW30 both is super accurate.
That's what makes these German stringers so great along with superb engineering of course
I’m surprised I didn’t celebrate with a special edition HW 97, as that is their flagship Springer.
HW 77

It seems pretty powerful i was expecting something in the HW30 league.

FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY QUID for a twang and bang!!! For £50 more you can have a JTS Airacuda max like my .177 and .22 versions that will group 8mm at 40 yards.
Good morning UA-cam from a wet and cold St. Helen’s. Thanks Andy and the AAR team for another great review.
Straight and safe shooting all.
A lovely looking rifle, I wonder why they chose a 50 rather than a HW 80 or a 98 ?
That's a pretty rifle, lovely video
Good honest review of a lovely looking rifle, thank you.
Beautiful rifle
Beautiful. Thanks Andy.
The 50 is also sold as the 99s, same gun at much lower price,!
😂😂 you wet wipe
I really quite like this one 👍
another great review and also it was great to see that you also have to do some things over again,it is a great looking gun, especially like the red laminate stock, and haters gonna hate anyway, keep up the great reviews, love watching 'em very friday
The reloading phase sounds great, I want one, but this brand takes almost a year to arrive in Northern Ireland ( British ), my friend is waiting a very long time for his HW 97, still not here the Brexit thing is sore on us!
back in the day (😂) i had a hw77 .22 and an asi 3 - 9 x 56
would consistently hit a thumb tack at the bottom of my garden .
not sure of the distance
Haha. Winding up the trolls from the get go. Nice one Andy 😂
Great review Andy
Andy, just tell us for goodness sake, do you usually shoot springers? 😅
Best reviews anywhere thanks Andy
Springers are proper dads guns.
Goodmorning all! Back from vacation, and a very nice review from Andy to start the Friday! Can’t get any better ❤
Morning these love the h&n field target trophy green 👌👌👌👌👌
Now it's the turn of weihrauch hw30
A late good morning one and all .😊
Andy, do the objects you show go back on sale, and do you have first dibs to bye ho and get a spring rifle? Keeps your eye in.
Another effing cabinet queen!!
I shoot all types of rifles but you really need to keep it at 25mtrs with a springer if using for pest control but if plinking go long for fun but this ain’t supposed to be a plinker
The only thing about the make is. They are so heavy but I know they are a cracking guns
why not did weihrauch a extra luxe walnut stock instead that red laminate . that also was used in a diana 54
Another great wee video 😊
Another great video Andy
Love springers, have a Walther and a Diana and want a Weihrauch but this one won't be it. Sorry but not a lover of laminate stocks and this one is a tad on the gaudy side for my own taste... (not a hater, just don't like it,,, two different things for those who love to use the word "Hater" ) otherwise great review. It takes a while for new springs to work themselves in to get consistent results so I'm not surprised this one knocked out a few flyers, give it a tin or two of pellets and I'm sure things will tighten up, after all it's a Weihrauch.... 👍
Good morning, Great review, very nice Rifle
Hi I have a 57 and the recoil I'm sure knocks my scope out of zero? The safety is the same on the 57 very annoying lol
10 X 10 Andy!
Good morning👍
Tasty gun, but £450 is abit much for a HW99S/HW50. £350-£390 would be a more sensible price. Its £285 for a standard HW99S near me and that is pretty darn fair for a German gun you will probably keep forever.
Nice for the collector's
Nice one Andy
Hi have I missed the draw for the epic two? ATB
Doing good for 40Yds
