Honestly I still watch Wizards as an adult and it's actually good even if it is targeted at kids. Alex Russo is a very well written character with a lot of depth and she goes through lasting character development throughout the show. I have actually written a character analysis about the main character. Looking at the things she says and does from an adult an adult perspective gives you a lot more insight into who she is and it allows you to understand the brilliant writing behind the character better. On the surface people think she is mean, selfish, lazy, unintelligent, rude, and bratty but their perceptions of who she is are completely wrong. At times she can make selfish decisions but they are never intentionally selfish. What people see as her being rude or mean spirited is just her being honest and being able to see people's real flaws behind the masks they wear. Her distant and over confident attitude is just a wall she puts up to hide her insecurities. She pretends to be 'bad' when she is just lying to herself because inside she's a selfless person with a heart of gold. In general her sarcastic comments and overall witty persona is a defense mechanism that she uses to prevent herself from getting hurt. Alex Russo cares about her loved ones very deeply and has shown countless times she is willing to do anything to help them, even risk her own life. Wizards is a show about interesting magical adventures but it is also about Alex Russo's journey from a seemingly immature and selfish teenage girl to a young woman who is an unexpected hero. I just rewatched the movie a couple of weeks ago, and i was honestly pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! The show has always been one of my most favorites and a comfort of mine, but from what I remembered on my first watch of the movie, it was…. a bit meh. Like, it was okay. Not bad, but also not THAT good of a Dcom. So when i decided to rewatch it, just to pass up the time, i was like, “…….. I don’t remember it being THIS good?????” I think the story in general is great, i love how they gave more depth to mostly Justin and Alex’s characters, and the chemistry of the family is always top notch. Definitely planning to rewatch it again soon!
Yes, this is actually correct. I think he was confused because at first Alex was about to cross the finish line and win but went back to help Justin who was stuck in a tree root. After Justin was freed, Alex let him cross the finish line first at the end. Justin was about to be declared the winner but he felt bad for becoming the family wizard when it was Alex who rightfully won. He told professor Crumbs the truth and Alex was decided to be the true winner of the wizard competition. So technically Justin 'won' the wizard competition at first but only because Alex let him.
They really did tone down Harper’s outfits in the movie. Vegard is right abt the duck outfit. She also had a marker outfit and I think a fruit roll up outfit
Pretty sure they did it to not take away attention from the main plot/important parts and for anyone who might not have watched the series so they're not just like "what the fuck is that"
I'm so glad that you still liked it...I was worried when I saw the first bit of the title ngl! Somehow the show does hold up, especially the movie. A classic.
i'm always amazed at how much wizards holds up, and it's the only shiw where the protatgonist is like the bad girl lazy trouble maker. usually that role is given to the best friend in the show not the main girl
Wizards of Waverly Place was also my favourite. When Juliet and Justin get together and their parents disapprove at first, but then come around, happened right around the same time I was going through something similar. I used to watch and rewatch the show when I was younger, and I recently just binged the whole thing last year!
Yes, it is called the Wizards Reunion Alex vs Alex and it was partially written by Selena Gomez to serve as the final end to the show and Alex's journey as a character.
@@AuraKumo104 I think that a Wizards reboot would hold a much better candle to the show, though, and would explore Alex, Justin, and Max’s lives as adults. Much better than the Villains of Valley View show, huh?
@@akrzton1 I don't know what that other show is but a Wizard's reboot might not be a good idea. Every single reboot we have gotten so far wasn't nearly as good as the original and is written more to appeal to the new generation of children rather than the adult fans who watch the shows in the past. That means Wizards might be targeted at even younger kids than the original show like Raven's Home or Girl Meets World. Reboots tend to make the shows even more child friendly than the originals and they often focus on new characters, most often they are the original main character's kids. Even the best reboot, the new ICarly, is dragged down by it trying to appeal to the current generation of kids and it added a really obnoxious child main character with no respect for the original adult characters. Disney also refuses to allow creators to make their reboots targeted at an older audience. Disney canceled the Lizzy Mcguire reboot because they wouldn't let the creator of the show give it a TV-14 rating and target the show at the adult fans who liked the original when they were kids.

Alex‘s mom was able to find the magic location of Alex and Justin‘s wizard battle because she got the stone and made a wish to bring the stone to Alex. The stone transported her to Alex‘s location

The only problem I had with the movie were the camera shots. But only because the show made me used to a static camera angle, that only slightly changed. The movie had it's camera shots in the world itself, which made for really uncanny camera angles of a scene you are used to see from only one angle. That feeling got better when they arrived at vacation
i actually said that once, at work. people at the center, were looking at me like i was nuts. i work with adults with handicaps, most of them are strange. i was trying to bend a table, in referrence to spoon bending.
Alex was the one who won the second tournament, but she helped Justin because he got stuck, so he ended up winning. But, Justin told the professor what Alex did, so she won and Justin became a professor, so they both kept their powers

I know this has nothing to do with anything, but I still feel like the family wizard thing isn't fair. Bam they can't be a wizard anymore? Someone else said this and I liked what they said so I'm gonna resay it also, when Aunt Megan got mad at Jerry and Kelbo she wasnt mad because she didnt win. She was mad that he gave the powers to kelbo who was obviously unfit. I think the whole system wasnt fair. Yes the people who would be irresponsible with the magic like max shouldn't necessarily have ut, but what about the people like stevie? The only reason she started her revolution was cuz she felt everyone should be able to stay wizard. I think that's the fair way.

Alex wins the wizard competition in the series but Justin keeps his powers as he replaces Professor Crumbs
Harper NEVER disappears from the series, and neither does Lily in Hannah Montana!!
The competition part of the storyline felt more like an Avatar The Last Airbender episode than an actual family tournament.
A classic.
I love how you have the himym kids in the background and didn't even have the change the boy's face
because the boy is david henrie aka justin
i'm always amazed at how much wizards holds up, and it's the only shiw where the protatgonist is like the bad girl lazy trouble maker. usually that role is given to the best friend in the show not the main girl
I have also stated how these characters were the top 10 in their grade level and how Alex got nominated for Outstanding Young Citizen one year.
Wizards of Waverly Place was also my favourite. When Juliet and Justin get together and their parents disapprove at first, but then come around, happened right around the same time I was going through something similar. I used to watch and rewatch the show when I was younger, and I recently just binged the whole thing last year!
Wasn't there another wizards' movie too, Seamus? It deserves a try😁
THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING IT! I wasn’t sure if it was just some kind of fever dream or something.
@@candiedcockroaches literally same. I got hyped up about watching selena gonez x2 but...
I knew Vegard was magic all along. And Seamus is...well, doing his best...and that's commendable. Good job! Seriously loving the dynamic between you two, keep these coming!
What always confused me is the wizard competition here and in the show were completely different.
Just in case no one has mentioned this yet, but there is a 2nd Wizard movie that they released after the series ended. It takes place after the Wizard competition. It's called Alex vs Alex. Both movie are good and I still watch the series as well as the movies every year
Jerry represents Justin
Kelbo represents Max
Megan represents Alex.
Megan represent Alex, but Alex gets really upset later in that episode cuz she said she doesn't wanna be like megan.
Also anyone who didn't watch that episode would be so confused
Alex‘s mom was able to find the magic location of Alex and Justin‘s wizard battle because she got the stone and made a wish to bring the stone to Alex. The stone transported her to Alex‘s location
I love this movie! I love watching you watch my childhood
Yes nostalgia is definitly my feel for that movie. Also i always rooted for Alex - her magic during the tournament felt more natural. Just doing it .
Also mom get there thanks to the wish
ok but are yall forgetting about the other wizards of waverly place movie where there was an evil alex or smth? i don't remember much about it but I think it took place after the show. I don't remember why there was an evil alex tho, that movie felt like a fever dream
The only problem I had with the movie were the camera shots. But only because the show made me used to a static camera angle, that only slightly changed. The movie had it's camera shots in the world itself, which made for really uncanny camera angles of a scene you are used to see from only one angle. That feeling got better when they arrived at vacation
This was one of my favorite movies when I was little. It felt like a fever dream.
The last time i watched your video was back in 2016 omg u’ve change a lot
Photoshopped Selena on the computer screen is amazing 😂
I’ve been waiting for this one!!
I was just gonna say that
Wizards of Waverley Place, Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, and Lab Rats where peak Disney shows
I'm going to start saying that too. "My magic isn't working! This place must be enchanted." 😹
i actually said that once, at work. people at the center, were looking at me like i was nuts. i work with adults with handicaps, most of them are strange. i was trying to bend a table, in referrence to spoon bending.
THANK you Seamus I’ve been waiting SO LONG for someone to talk about this film
10:23 RIP, this actor. I never heard such a nonchalant roast
15:21 i think she used the stone to wish herself to find wherever they were.
Alex was the one who won the second tournament, but she helped Justin because he got stuck, so he ended up winning. But, Justin told the professor what Alex did, so she won and Justin became a professor, so they both kept their powers
to be fair, when the spells are in Latin they are saying the same these ones say in English, it just feels stupid when you actually understand 😅
I always think of the episode where they say that as long as you can come up with a rhyme, a spell can do anything, and that fact about the magic system has been stuck in my head for the past 10 years.
Yeah but they're short and not rhyming. If they were rhyming sentences then it'd be the same annoyance.
I loved this film (and the show) so much as a kid, I watched it over and over again and I even had the novelisation too and I read that quite a bit too, I loved it! This brings back a lot of memories!
Please watch Lab Rats! It's Disney XD rather than Disney Channel so it's more action-oriented, but it's made by a lot of the same folks who made Wizards of Waverly Place (e.g. Victor Gonzalez is a director on both shows). It's super fun!
You should react to the whole show. I used to watch this when I was younger, and when I went back to watch it, I did not expect it to be so good but it was.
Who else has been here since "ello there, how're you doin'" and braces?
me.
man I remember this movie so fondly, I didn't even really keep up with the show but the movie was so hype. you laugh at that bridge scene but man that did it for me as a kid 😂
So mg Disney channel era was like 2015-2019, and then I got Disney +, and I watched all the old shows, and that’s when I realized how terrible modern Disney channel is, wizards of eagerly place, good luck charlie, and suite life are the best Disney channel shows of all time
The only more modern Disney show that I love is kc undercover
I totally agree however the only modern disney show I liked was Austin & Ally
Hannah Montana, that's so raven, and both suite lifes were what I watched when I was younger
My mom was leery towards wizards of Waverly place
But I saw a few episodes
I know this has nothing to do with anything, but I still feel like the family wizard thing isn't fair. Like in the end Alex and justin both win, but that's the only family we know of that it happens and it's not fair. What about all the people who tried hard and didnt win. I think that's the fair way.
okay but this movie caused me to beg my parents to buy the Walmart exclusive dvd bc it came w a stone of dreams mood key chain so I could act it out w my Alex wand and also get the wowp build a bear and put this version of the song in it
One of our other favorite places to visit is Kennywood Park in West Mifflin. We go once a week, mainly on Fridays. In the next chapter of The Edge of Normalcy: Part 1, Jill talks to Sarah, James, and Henri about her birthday party the day before at Kennywood Park. That’s exactly why I am here- because I saw this show’s top 2 best Liberty’s Kids episodes, which are Going Home and We the People. The latter episode will most likely be referenced in the chapter, as the former is typically referenced in the crossover series on Kennywood Day.
The competition for their powers was far better in this movie than the series finale gave us
not to clock you but Alex won the family wizard competition in both the movie and the show! 😂
You are correct!
I think the princess protection program would be really funny for this series!!
Wizards of wave rly place was my favorite Disney sitcom. Prob my favorite sitcom of all time.
The only “musical number” I remember from the show was when she had to break up with the werewolf and they did a whole end credits music video to one of Selena Gomez’s love songs.
They also had a musical number called make it happen where Alex and justin created a band
Wait what??? Which episode was this?
@@clarascats1365 season 2 episode 11 is the episode with the band called make it happen, and I think the other episode where it plays Selena's song (a year without rain) is season 3 episode 28, puppy love, but I'm not sure about the second one....
@@clairemaddison8386 thx
to the point at 6:30, yes that is the entire plot of the show lmao. i even recall there being an episode where they meet this other kid at school who is a wizard and he got away with using magic all the time by using magic on his parents to manipulate them. alex tries to get him to do the same thing to her parents but for a reason i can't remember they don't go through with it in the end.
If you liked this Dcom you’d like Avalon high. One of the best in my opinion. And it has the British guy in it as well
I remember buying the movie on dvd and it came with a mood necklace
I you should watch lemonade mouth. Top tier Disney channel movie
I loved this series and the movie so much growing up!!
I remember when it was mentioned somewhere that Selena was crying for real at the ending scene.
She was supposedly remembering a dead pet or loved one when she cried for that scene. Her acting was so good in that movie.
I should watch all of it again one day.
Day one of asking Seamus to watch Barbie princess and the pop star
17:30 Alex did win, Justin also kept his powers
I must be around the same age as you because you've perfectly described my Disney channel era as well. Started and ended with this show that happened to be my favorite
4:08 I would definitely match outfits with my family too
I'd love to see you react to some starkid shows! they're on yt for free, I'd recommend 'The guy who didn't like musicals' first, it's from the same group as A Very Potter Musical
I remember Selena crying in this movie made me cry so hard
In the show Alex won the family wizard competition, not Justin lol
I’ve loved watching you react to all the recent franchise DCOMs. Now do back to the beginning: under wraps, mom’s got a date with a vampire, smart house, P.U.N.K.S., phantom of the megaplex, genius, the thirteenth year, etc etc. the days of old before Disney tried to make a franchise out of everything and they actually had a story or plot…as much as a kids TV movie can have plot.
I saw this movie before knowing wizards of waverly place and I was very baffled ngl
15:44 I literally listened to this song earlier today😱
My day just got a whole lot better
2:40 Uncle Kelbo is a Genderfluid Icon. No, I will not elaborate.
Can you rewatch Wizards of Waverly Place and make a retrospective? Or maybe review season by season?
Yess
Day Twenty-Six of asking Seamus to watch Ever After High!
Great video seamus and vegard...
Wait what video am i talking about?
Selena Gomez was the staple of my childhood 🥲❤️
You should do Twitches. Personally my favorite DCOM 😁
I've always had a girl crush on selena gomez!
Wizards of Waverly place was such a good show, this is one of my favorite movies to come from a tv show!
13:02 I know it's completely irrelevant but I searched it out of curiosity and apparently the word "gaslighting" originated in 1938
THE ENDING
thank you i worked very hard on it
Your next dcom should be lemonade mouth or starstruck! I have a feeling starstruck would drive you crazy 😂
idk if this is just me, but Vagard's little additions make these already videos so much funnier
Can we also talk about how different this wizard competition is to the end one at the end of the show
You should do a video for the Halloweentown DCOM movies. As a kid I loved them and would like to hear you opinions on them.
HOW ISN'T ANYBODY COMMENTING ABOUT THE HIMYM SELENA GOMEZ MONTAJE IN THE BACKGROUND?! GENIUS
Suggestion: the American Girl movies!
This movie is the reverse of DCOM the Poof Point where a time machine was making the parents disappear, and the kids had to save them.
there definitely was an episode with a boy alex liked that was a wizard, and he was constantly using magic on them to make them not tell him what to do, or something. i don't remember much of the episode, but the message was essentially "this is why the kids don't use magic on their parents". but now i've gotta rewatch the series because of this video, so thanks /j
damn seamus unlocked a core memory there
Spoiler alert!! (About the show)
Just one small thing, you said that in the show justin wins, so actually at the end of the episode he let's Alex win and then becomes the head professor
This was ngl one of the best if not the best disney channel original movies and WOWP was epic!
In the show Alex wins the tournament but Justin gets to keep his magic so he can teach at the wizard school bc the old teacher is retiring
He should watch Julie and the phantoms, it’s not Disney, but it’s Kenny Ortega so close enough
If Seamus started doing “Cosmonaut variety hour” type content with just him watching movies and fully reacting to it i would love that
I thought Alex won both and Justin was kept a wizard by the leader of the wizards, so him and Alex were both wizards
Yeah that was how it ended, I think he was just mistaken because Justin still had powers at the end of the show.
